I thought what you meant by 360 view is that you will smoothly roll on something, but you used a cd instead and spin it with your hands :D Nice and awesome papercraft! :D
@Sychazel As you can tell I reply just about to all comments on here. I truly don't remember how long it took me, especially since it's one of my first models. I'm pretty sure it took me a day to make this.
What type do you have in mind? I have a guide of what programs one may find helpful, and I have one of me drafting out my paper rubik's cube. I thought about doing a "techniques" tutorial, but it would be absolutely pointless; I can't really show or explain how to "properly" roll a paper into a tight tube, that's just something people will need to do on their own and find their own best way.
...oh I never used sketchup for those. Both of those models I just started drafting unfolded pieces in autocad without a base model. The only model (that has been posted up to this time on youtube) that I've used sketchup for, was for the rubik's cube center cube piece.
the body, arms and guns are printer paper (rolled up into tubes). everything else (head, feet) are something like 100 pound paper. Anything 80 or above would work
Why not make it? It's very easy, it consists of a bunch of tubes wrapped around a paper clip. The body consists of two such tubes with a strip of paper wrapped around them. The little feet are just layers of paper glued on top of each other. Design one and post it as a reply to this vid, I'd be more than happy to see what you come up with.
The joints in this model don't move, just come up with a way to hide the ends of each tube. Although it's possible to make a model such as this where the joints move, it makes the project MUCH harder.
So cool! My group would love it if you could offer the design for free! I offer designers a place to show thier work. I hope you consider. I left my group name on another one of your vids!

Its the one with the big paper head on the front page!
The glue is just regular water based glue found at walmart (highly don't recommend using water based products for this). The reason the model is hard is because the tubes are made using tightly rolled up computer paper. Take any kind of rod (like coat hanger) and wrap a strip of paper around it and just add a bit of glue to the end of it.
I've been promising a tutorial, but the problem is that when ever I have time to work on the tutorial, I already have an idea for my next project, so instead I work on the new project. Since several people have asked me I'll get to it, but I still can't come up with a proper format for it. The other problem is that I create these models so that people will have to stop and think about HOW it was created if only paper was used. If I reveal the techniques it'll kinda kill the point. I'll see.
hot glue is too thick, you want something that will dry quickly with as little mess as possible, and not deform the model itself (like water based glue)
If you created something you were proud of, would you tear it apart just to prove something on the internet? I will try to put up a video of the different techniques used. Don't forget that the quality of my webcam along with youtube's compression settings, the models lose a lot of detail, thus making them look like plastic instead of paper.
no, not really, but you can see one model that wasn't finished all the way in the mech video (the mech's feet weren't finished.
This entire model was pretty much made up of tubes made by taking a plastic covered paper click, removing the plastic around it and wrapping small strips of paper around it, then gluing them together. The body is made up of 2 such tubes with another strip going fully around it.
Great pose love your work. Do you have any web sites that cover this area of modeling (paper and CAD that is). I have had a shot using blender to do this but isn't easy.
For this model I never made a 3d object (in a modeling program). I just drew a sketch of it and then just drafter the parts in cad so I could print them out (I drew them flattened out). This model is pretty much completely made out of tubes made by twisting printer paper around a thin paper clip. The mid section was made using 2 of these tubes and then more paper wrapped around them.
