heh kind of a funy story behind this, there was supposed to be a fight scene here, but Harrison Ford was sick that day. They wanted to keep shooting on schedule so Harrison said why don't we just have Indiana Jones shoot the guy? Turned out to be one of the best scenes of the movie!

Actually (Confirmed by snopes) They were filming this in the Middle east, and Harrison Ford had gotten sick with dysentary or soemthing.. He was suffering from "the runs" and really needed to go... GO...When they went to shot this (supposed to be much longer scene) but he improvised by "shooting" the guy, to cut the scene length.. they liked it and kept it as is..

The reason this fight is so short is that whilst filming Harrison Ford had Dysentry and had to be about 30 seconds from a toilet at all times. Thats why instead of the two to three minute long fight he simply shoots him rather than scuffle.

Indy's gun is a Smith and Wesson revolver. In the film they used 2 different guns for Indy. There is a scene in the film where uses a Browning 9mm Hi power. His revolver used a British 455 cartrige although in the first part of the movie his gun uses a Colt 45 cartrige.

I've always loved Indy films and was so disappointed that G. Lucas didn't do a tribute to this scene in SW Ep. III: ROTS by having Obi Wan just casually push Gen. Grevious over with the force when the latter started waving swords around, as Indy does to this guy. But I guess this stuff isn't PC anymore and good guys have to wait for the baddies to make the first aggressive move.
