  • Nice playing ... great tones!

  • great sound

  • mmmmmmmMMMMMMM!ARBYSSSS!!

  • Is it hard to install? Do you need to program the Roland GK-2A to one of the switches on the toggle switch? Also, can you just plug it straight to the amp and it would make that synthesizer sound? If you would reply to this, that would awesome. I am planning to buy this so Thanks

  • Man is this awesome.

  • I wonder if this would work with a electrocustic nylon string guitar

  • @valleMECHATRONICS Stairway to Heaven, Led Zeppelin.

  • I never considered buying a guitar synth, you just convinced me. :-)

  • you pass! no stairway rule does not apply to you my good friend... carry on.

  • Dear Santa...

  • I'M GONNA BUY ONE RIGHT NOW!!!!

  • I WAN'T ONE XD

  • oke'... this is straaaange...

  • First: Great video! Thanks!

Secondly: How does the GR-09 differentiate between the strings (adressing the 2:40 part) ?

    And third: Yay for Tenacious D (4:01) !!! :-D

  • @faselblaDer3te it uses a special pickup that picks up each string separately

  • @faselblaDer3te oh, and thats stairway to heaven not anything by the D. they just use it in tribute occasionally

  • @rickyjshiznit

    Thanks for the reply!

Oh, my bad, didn't know that =)

  • awesome! i just wanted to know what a synth guitar would do/ sound like, and this video was great! nice ending with stairway to heaven :D

  • hahaha so these are the guitar abominations my theory teacher was talking about Lol I'm definitely gettin me a synthesizer :D

  • these soulectro beats are free on mee: kickthecan.bandcamp.com

  • no way

  • 1:48 wad if the organ sound on backing and with distortion guitar?could it works too?

  • Very nice man, keep it up!

  • How the FUCK!!!!!!!

  • sound like Mr. Crowley

  • Hola Raulin,

  • Hola Raulin,

  • The last song was Stairway to Heaven?

  • Cool as shit

  • Que bueno!!

  • This is basicly Sound Canvas for guitars.

  • this is really great... wow. its like spot fucking on organ tone... damn

  • 666 like is mine

  • That was really cool! I like how you finished off with Stairway to Heaven XD

  • like the song at 2:24 very very much..

  • MR CROWLEY!!!

  • How much money is all this?

  • what is the song at 2:50?

  • #CUTE

  • how in the world can a person do that?! I really wish I could do that with my guitar T_T

  • what does the guitar player in the strokes use for 12 51?

  • Amazing

  • we have one of these, its awsome :)

  • I request this man to go do a Hollywood movie backup music

  • i was sitting there with a big grin half expecting you would pull a slide on the zepplin part just cause i was curious on if the piano synth would skip the pitches between the half steps but seriously, would it just play a bend in a string exactly like a guitar or does it 'compensate' when you play the piano synth?

  • @Ele3tricEye Thanks for commenting.

With an option called 'chromatic" you can choose if the sound "bends" guitar like or if it plays the next note in the interval when it is off or on. For piano sounds and the like the chromatic option should be on.

    Best Regards,

    Raulin

  • It's like keyboard for the guitar player. lol

  • 3:25 = Runescape

  • That has got to have a hefty pricetag... i can't wait till equipment like this is affordable..

  • @drpeppa2357 The GR-09 is under $200 on eBay since it's discontinued. Newer models, like the GR-20 are between $500 and $800. That's pretty affordable - about the same price as a new guitar, amp or other effects processor (like the Line 6 XT)

  • wow this synth's sounds are pretty bad compared to the other synths

  • Can you hear when you vibrate your fingers while using church organ?

Sorry for my bad english.. Great playing.

  • @DanskeSange Do you mean if it is sensitive to finger vibrato? Yes, it is, as well as to most playing nuances typical in guitar playing.

Don't worry about your English, mine is not better.

    Thanks for commenting!

  • You shread, keep rockin' :)

  • Would you say that the GR-09 is better than the GR-30?

  • the church organs sound like "Mr. Crowley" by Ozzy.

  • how much did it cost?

  • whoa........... that was cool

  • I'd love one but the problem is these cool things only come right handed and I'm a lefty and rarely do they come lefty

  • @MegaCrowman what do u mean? how can a pedal only be right handed :S

  • @trigea I meant the whole guitar

  • @MegaCrowman its very easy to get a left handed strat :S

the guitar isnt a special guitar for the pedal :S

  • 1:50 That's where it's at!

  • I NEED BAGPIPE!!!!!

  • 1:19 simply gorgeous

  • Oh..Roland Gr9 is Amazing!!!

  • I really gotta get one of those!! :O

  • The processor that alters the sound must be amazingly fast.

  • I didn't know until I watched this vid that a guitar can be made to sound like an electric organ; or just about anything. Awesome! :)

  • wow, this is so cool! :D

  • I'd really like to get my hands on one of these synthesizers, too bad they're so expensive

  • Want so much.

  • This is bad ass! I'm sure there are many more tones, but you only have so much time to sound bad ass :)

  • cool vid. . rreminds meof whn I used to jam with some guys and they invited their pal along and he had ( I think) one of these ( midi pickup seems similar). we're all playing guitar, I didn't know he could choose sounds...so I'm completely thrown when I see this guitar player playing a really cool keyboard solo..on his guitar. thanks for posting this, I think the hold function sounds really cool .

  • How does it work, are there sensors on each fret or does it recognize the notes being played?

  • @bobo123a there's a special MIDI pickup.

  • Mr. Crowley would be cool with this!!

  • When the Clean Guitar and Organ part began, I immediately was reminded of Pink Floyd.

I need one of these pedals, very badly.

  • how much it's price pls...

  • @abufender When they were new in the early 90's I seem to remember the setup was about 1500-1800 (USD) depending on which setup you got Roland made quite a few over many years and I think they still make a few.The GR-09 was ground breaking when it was released even metal bands were using it, the midi pickup was revolutionary and is still used today.

  • @Ih8stupidhumans thanx man...i like this stuff...currently i'm using zoom gfx4 which aiready out of date...hahaha...

  • @abufender I know the feeling my GP8 was 15 years out of date when I bought it but I still love it even though I paid 150 bucks just for the controller pedal that you can't find cables for anymore.

  • @abufender I didn't see any 09's on ebay but there are quite a few of the gr20-33 and some other stuff check the craiglist often in your area one may pop up, Good Luck.

  • Might be good for dudes banging around sheltered housing as a way to wow the inmates...hey, everyone has to make a living! Can't see Jeff Beck putting his signature to this thing though.....

  • @Rikk303 wow negative nancy it's just a electronic device I don't think it's worried about Jeff Beck.

  • @Ih8stupidhumans Nobody (or thing) is worried about Jeff, apart from the fact that he might die. Being a minor deity, that doesn't seem likely

  • @Rikk303 True but Jeff Beck isn't the only awesome guitarist out there I mean look at all of Steve Vai's stuff or Frank Zappa,Ron Jarzombek,Allen Holdworth,EVH,Robert Fripp the list goes on and on Jeff is worthy of serious recognition but he's no Les Paul ......or Chet Atkins for that matter.

  • No Offence But I Dont Wnt Church Music Out Of A Guitar

  • no way

  • I think the hold thing looks really cool

  • HOLY SHIT! thats so cool :)

  • @fbvideocopyleftsucks lmao he didn't even tell you what you asked... so yea google is the best answer.

  • @fbvideocopyleftsucks yea its called google

  • Those are realistic sounds, all on their own. But to be converted directly from the sound of guitar strings....that's incredible.

  • Holy Crap. Did i die and go to Guitar heaven. This thing does it all. Always wanted a guitar that can do this. HAHA. Awsome

  • holy shit thats cool!!!! I would love to get my hand on one of those!!

  • Will this work for Bass guitar?Or is there a Bass version of this or anything similar?

  • you my friend are amazing

  • awesome!

  • @fbvideocopyleftsucks theres theres an extra pickup installed on the guitar that converts audio to midi information. its the thin black strip at the bridge with the wire coming out of it.

  • Talent: this man has got it.

  • Awsome stairway to heaven on piano! :)

  • Play Entry of the Gladiators with the church organ setting.

  • Comment removed

    o no?

  • You can use vibrato on this can you? Or is that just a habit haha

  • i just want the piano :D stairway to heaven with the piano. SWEET!

  • Awesome! Digital technology rule.

  • Wow...

    Very good man ;D

  • Very Very Good... it's very real simulations...

  • Wow That was Awesome !

  • The truth is that you need to play both and find out which sounds better for you... I own a GT-10 because my setup sounds best through a GT-10. Line 6 had slightly better distortion but i liked the effects on the GT-10 better... don't take peoples recommendations for this system or that system... try it and then decided if you want to buy it

  • do you have to go into the gr20 or can u just plug into a keyboard?

  • @Leonard5555 I want a gt-10, but I am a broke mother fucker and do not want to spend that much.

    Do you recommend the Gt-8?

  • I can't recommend it because im not familiar with it.

  • @Leonard5555 Recommend it anyway.

  • ha ok

  • @Leonard5555 Can you recommend the GT-10?

  • you should get either a POD 2.0, XT, XT live.. you will be happy, you just need to spend some time to learn the features.. the sound is definitely better than a GT-8, i had both..

  • My god, that sounds freaking great!!! Is this available for bass?!

  • Awesome

  • @ allfatz...

your joking right? i feel sry for you if you really dont know that song. Now im depressed its even possible to not know it.

  • ok, i dont exactly understand this but is this a normal stratocaster with one of those midi pickups?

  • yes

  • What song did you play on the Piano+Strings part ? I'm planning to do a lot of covers when my camera gets fixed.

  • omg! really?!?!

    its stair way to heaven!!

  • YA RLY

    And thanks for replying.

  • hehe, no problem

sorry for being an ass, i was just giving you a hard time :)

  • Hehe, I understand, I'm an ass myself :)

I just annoy people when I'm extremely bored

  • hehe, same here

  • @allfatz Stairway to Heaven - led Zeppelin

Excelente demo, muchas gracias.

  • nice demo...aside from the guitar what does one of these things, including pick up, go for?

  • Nice playing. Reminds me of Castlevania lol

  • what's the name of the last song?? at 4:01?? THX

  • Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin of course!!!!

  • whats the name of the organ song?

  • what is that on 2:50?

  • I like to mix my GR-33 sounds with my guitar tones, i think it really fattens them up. My first

guitar synth was a Arp Avatar, what a difference

Roland made for me, my first Roland was a

    GR-700, Great Demo.

  • Genial!

Also ich glaube, ich besorge mir so'n Ding! :D

  • What is the point of learning other instrument and spending all that time learning it if you can just get this?

  • because you can't get the same exact feel, that you would utilizing that instrument.

synths are nice, but...not for everything, and they are awesome in proggresive metal :)

  • =0 stairway to heaven

  • AHHH I WANT

  • um.... because who doesnt want a guitar that can sound like either a banjo, a flute, a saxophone, a bagpipe, a piano, a church organ, a mandolin, or even strings?

  • i agree people should master the guitar first than learn the guitar/synth

the guitar/synth makes an awful lead or rythm guitar, its more for fill ins

  • People should master the guitar with a guitar.

People should master the bagpipes with a bagpipe.

This would be good if you are recording and don't want to buy all the different instruments.

No sense being able to play all the instruments on a guitar. People just laugh at one-man-bands and toss them a few coins as they strut their stuff on the street corner.

  • it's good for recording if u want a little bit more. especially if all you only know how to play guitar :D

  • Good point. You won't have to learn another instrument just to record sound of an instrument you can't play.

However if someone seems to gravitate toward a particular instrument sound they should learn that instrument. Who knows maybe in the future people will only learn to play guitar/synth and all other instruments will become obsolete. But then on the other hand maybe the keyboard will make the guitar obsolete. We will see.

  • yeah, if i was rich i'd get every single instrument i want in a recording. but this will do for now lol.

  • I would not mind having the guitar synth myself for the same reason.

However there is a thrill in learning to play the tin whistle or bagpipes using a real instrument. The synth has its place but someone would look foolish on stage if all they did for the whole concert was play the bagpipes using the guitar. People would consider him crazy and wonder why he just didn't buy the bagpipes.

  • i guess, if you think bagpipes are cool o.o

im jk, but i would use it for just background noises in my music. and if sounds good, i'll hire someone when im rich and famous to play it on a real instrument for me LOL

  • I was just giving examples. Bagpipes have their place in the world. Bagpipe players are people too.

The synth is great for recording but can it really mimic all the subtle nuances and sounds of the real instruments. Good point. Even you consider someone playing a real instrument to be the superior choice to hire.

  • its not perfect but its good enough to have some fun with. I mean you can't really learn all other instruments but you can have something pretty dam close with this =)

  • I don't deny that it is a great unit. I would buy one if I had the money. Well, I do have the money but I am too busy trying to master the guitar. I wouldn't mind having the unit for recording. I agree that the synth sounds great and I am sure that some of the voices sound better done on the guitar than on a keyboard.

I am sure it is a lot of fun.

  • that it is and it really helps you because its not forgiving!

  • @jackcarpentersax I agree that it's a great piece of gear and some of the sounds are great by themselves and mixed with guitar. Some of the effects you can use and do some lead work with and nobody will know it's a guitar and some of them are just for chords. Like the piano setting is good for some chords but if you want a piano solo the you need a pianist

  • Of course, of course for a piano solo you need a pianist. I believe there is more magic in the real thing.

  • woah O__O that is one amazing sound meh friend.

  • that piano sounds better than my keyboard!

  • The piano sounds better than my piano :P

  • OMGWTFBBQ!

  • dude those strings are super thin...
