Another way to do a dolly is with a used wheelchair with cameraman seated. Ground should be smooth though.and need someone pushing who can follow same line of shot each time. Also used wheel chairs that are cheap are harder to find.
if I were to want to make some video's, would it be ok to use a semi-low quality camera, if the videos are well done, will it make them bad? its not horrible quality, but it seems to be the slightest bit grainy
if it seems grainy, try to play around with the lighting and stuff like that, and if a movie is in really low qaulity it takes away from the overall film...
Sometimes with a good quality editing programme you can fix up the image later if it appears grainy or not so good. You can color correct it, apply filters and change the brightness/contrast and advanced conditions
@LucasCinema if you use a tripod or some sort of stabilization you'll be fine, you can always add a very slight blur in editing to counter the graininess in your footage
? is a dolly shot the same as a hitchcock zoom? a hitchcock zoom, zooms the camera in as it goes forward vice versa. how does it differ from a dolly if it even does at all?
The width of your back ground, beside other things. Just take any cheep camera and practice. It is a legitimate question. Keep asking and you will grow. Have fun learning.
no the hitchcock zoom is also called a dolly zoom, vertigo shot or zolly... if that is what you mean, it's basically moving the camera forward while zooming out, or viceversa. there are some great examples right here on youtube... just search dolly zoom!
i think even people who aernt into film would know this! why not tell them stuff like when shooting 24p dollies are essential to eliminate judder and the need for swish pans. and shooting in 1/48 shutter will also reduce smear in video.
Nice job using a photo tripod for video
