  • Does anyone know of any beauty salons in New york that do the Brazilian Keratin?

  • i was told they might ban this hair treatment in the u.s. also they banned it in canada!! lol crazy, y!!???!?!

  • is it easy to see regrowth difference when natural rooots come in?

that was a huge prob for me with japanese straightening

  • I LOVE getting keratin treatments done. My hair is fabulous, and as for any nay-sayers who talk about the formaldehyde need to understand just how minuscule the amount is released. It's practically nothing. On my hair, there wasn't even any sort of smell, no stinging my eyes, no problems at all.

  • ww.tietowel.com its a must...

  • I want to highlight and color my hair too.Should I do all this before or after the keratin treatment?

  • @STARSHINE852 Yes. Any chemical processes and dyes should be done before the treatment. Keratin treatment will also "seal" color into hair, so it'll actually make it last longer. :3

  • i did the brazilian blowout too! love it! i even made a video to show people how it's like after two weeks cause some people may wanna see how it looks weeks after the service or how long it takes to get ready after doing the treatment. :-)

  • I just read an article that said that some of these products contain unsafe amounts of formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen. I am interested in this treatment, but would rather deal with frizz than cancer. Still researching.

  • @Newlyblond I've researched this in detail. The formaldehyde is how the keratin is bonded to the hair. There are claims that you can get "formaldehyde free" products but it instead they hide the formaldehyde in other ingredients. The formaldehyde comes out in gas when you flat iron. As long as you use gloves and are in a well ventilated area, you should be fine.

  • Keratin treatments for smoothing and straightening hair often utilize either formaldehyde or glutaraldehyde.

The most effective measure of safety to avoid the excessive levels of these vapors can be obtained by using a chemical source capture system with one or more salon room air purifiers.

These systems have been tested by scientific expert Doug Schoon and have been found to be an effective means for lowering exposure to safe levels.

  • how much does it cost for the keratin treatment?

  • @Arabian22princess somewhere around $400-$600 and i guess it varies on ur length

  • are brazilian relaxers good for ur hair or does it make it fall out?

  • no, it non chemical product contains keratin (protein) all natural. its way far BETTER then the old straightener and relaxer products

  • i had this 'treatment' done at a dominican salon last year. while my hair felt very soft, and was very straight, my hair became very thin! it took about 3-4 months before my hair returned to its normal and curly appereance.

  • If it's so great, why isn't the stylist using it???

  • how do you undo the treatment to get your hair back to before?

  • @surferwatcher i would say use a sulfate based shampoo when you wash your hair, and it would return back to original state.

  • Uh... that has formaldehyde in it, you would think gloves would be necessary. That shit will give you cancer.

  • is it safe for kids to get this?

  • I'm not a hundred per cent sure about this, but I've heard that it is safe for children twelve and over. Again, if I were you, I'd check with an experienced hairdresser first.

  • @MoneyBEATSsoul the treatment is strictly made of conditioning proteins && preservatives. Im n cosmetolofy school and we are learning and performing this treatment application...It can even be done on colored or chemically treated hair but it is very costly.

  • She said, "no chemicals" EXCUSE me! She said that right after saying there is formaldyhyde in it. That's like breathing in poison.

  • this seems realy kewl and all but my ? is why da fuck does it cost $250 wen u can do they similar aphogee treatments at home for way less!

  • this is also a straightening treatment, not just a conditioning treatment.

  • well when i went to the salon they said the same thing at first then they said after a week it would go back wavy??

  • it shouldnt. if it did happen to you they did it wrong, or theyre using a bad brand.

  • i thought the hair is straight afterwards for like 4 months??? shes the only person i've heard say its not straight after :/

  • the treatment is done with or without Formaldehyde or Ether. The one without will only help smooth out the hair and works as a great conditioning treatment, the one with 2% or 4% will straighten it more.

  • if you live in CT and want this treatment done call 203-215-5525. I charge $200.

  • is this treatment okay for african-american hair? and how long does it last? Thanks!

  • If it's Brazilian, more than likely it will work on kinkier hair types.

  • isn't the hair suppose to be washed and blowdryed before the treatment is applied?

  • does it have any negative effects like a relaxer?

    chemicals?

  • never mind, you answered in the video lol.

  • no. is better.

  • This is a great concept! She does an excellent job explaining and demonstrating the technique.
