In terms of content, American Dad is basically Family Guy with a bit more thought put into the characters. Not much, but enough to be notable.

Futurama, is a parody of the scifi genre itself. A great deal of jokes deal with decades old movies and TV shows that someone your age likely has never seen.

Which one is more intelligent... hmmm...

In fact, many of the references and jokes are very obscure and sophisticated for a cartoon. I've seen the new episodes, and they are frankly brilliant, and millions seem to agree. Fail. The show is funny, but this ad is stupid. First of all the daughter character is the left wing douche character, not Roger. Roger doesn't care about politics. He'll side with anyone who can get him a few lines and some booze. And I guess the whole cast is pretty much weird (including the wife which is a big plus imho), so why pick out the fish.
