I remember watching this back when it was first uploaded. I thought it was the finest piece of animation that I had ever seen. Today it's still my honest opinion!
This was all done in Maya 7.0, but I treated it heavily in After Effects to make up for the very "inexpensive" renders (basically just minimal-shadows beauty pass and an occlusion pass, with a Maya depth of field pass that was controlled in After Effects.) Thanks for watching! :)
