Then, in 99 they started putting the 4.8/5.3/6.0 in light duty trucks. All Gen III and Gen IV chevy small block motors have little to nothing in common with the 283/327/350 you are mentioning.

I am a chevy guy but ford makes good products maybe not as fast as chevy but still good. Hell my mustang is a good running car for what it is, nothing like my SS but pobobly a better built car. My buddy has a 08 4.8 regular cab 4x4 with 33/13.50/17 superswaper iroks and it will spin a little from a launch but not much, it wont break torque now but did when it was stock. His dad has a 06 z71 5.3 regular cab and it will just blow the ties off no matter what even from a 30mph punch.
I don't have a preference of name. I kinda just see it as they all have their own attributes. My 305/45/R20 Nitto Terra Grappler tires will spin a bit from a stop, but not enough for tire smoke to rise (which I guess is a good idea for a good launch) but it did when I had stock tires. I'll admit, once my truck gets moving, even with stock tires I never got it to spin unless I was in water or on ice. But at a stop, bare spin. No power brake here, rears lock up with the front.

Chevy SSR, 2005 and 2006 has the 6.0L LS2 Corvette engine in it. I would call it a car, but it's technically a truck. And of course I'm certain you're aware of the SRT10, made from 2004 through 2006 with the 8.3L V10 Viper engine.

@jjwa76 5.3 isnt a 327 .... if you take 61 cubic inches per L and times it by 5.3 you will get 323.3 ....someone must of told you the wrong conversion or somthing
I have an 07 sierra W/ a 5.3L and It wont let me power brake .. It has some kind of rev limiter that won't let me rev past 2000 rpm. which isint enough to break traction. Any ideas . stabilitrak is fully disabled. thanx

I have an 07 sierra W/ a 5.3L and It wont let me power brake .. It has some kind of rev limiter that won't let me rev past 2000 rpm. which isint enough to break traction. Any ideas . stabilitrak is fully disabled. thanx
