  • Why are those dudes watching the wave come at them like idiots. I'd be like head for the hills!!!!

  • JESUS

  • How was this posted March 11, so what while posting it they got struck that's crazy talk

  • Tierra Danger Agua Muerto :( jesus earth

  • i need in spanish

  • were getting a hurracaine on sunday O_O

  • this video talks about tsunamis in japan...it was posted the same day as the earthquake in japan happened...it may be a coincidence but if it's not...i dont's know what the fuck it is... 0.o

  • oh my fucken god! 2:10

  • HOW IRONIC ITS WAS POSTED MARCH 11TH(DAY OF JAPANESE QUAKE AND TSUNAMI!)

  • that was posted... march 11th .. o_O

  • when I was in Pools hotels and resorts..

I swimmed in Kiddie pool coz im kid in real life

then we go to Beach Waves on Club Manila East (On Philillipines)

Its just like a tsunami I stop them by punching!!

  • as George Decay would say its not sunami its 2nami ahahahaha so have a deGAY old time.

  • i'm sad

  • I've got to watch this video for my social studies class, think how bad the audio is, now imagine trying to hear it over 23 other high school students.

  • 10 people trolled a tsunami.

  • After seeing the tsunamis in Japan those that hit Thailand in 2004 don't look like shit anymore.

  • @lukebccb They said the tsunami that hit Thailand killed 200,000 people, the combined people missing/dead in japan is 20,000

  • @nvidia290: couple things to your "200,000 versus 20,000". First off I'm not talking about casualty. I'm talking about the SIZE of the tsunamis we saw hit Japan versus the ones that we saw from amateur video taken in Thailand. Those in Thailand were 3-5 meters high at best. Those shown hitting Japan were 10-14 meters high. THAT'S what I'm talking about.

    (cont.)

  • @nvidia290: 240,000 persons died in the Indian ocean basin cause no country in the basin was prepared for the coming tsunami so persons didn't go to high ground and were thus millions got hit by that tsunami. Compare that to Japan which has THE most sophisticated tsunami warning system in the world and thus persons were told to get to high ground. Without that tsunami warning system the number of dead in Japan's March earthquake may very well be close to 2004's numbers.

  • @lukebccb Although the problem with the japan earthquake it came almost imediately and the tsunami walls were not big enough because they never faced a tsunami of this magnitude

  • @Hornystick with that kind of name--your comment is a piece of shit hole! Wait until they hit your fucken house...thanks to united states team dumbass!

  • being that the UNITED STATES team is working 24 HOURS to prevent such disaster from ever happening again, is a major F.A.I.L and national geographic should not market their failure ...... one word JAPAN

  • @sandouch1 Dumbass, the people that were near the Tsunami had a few, what, hours advanced notice? Warnings were going off before the Tsunami hit.

  • @CODtheater my point exactly you jackass ! they only had few hours and this team of asses is supposed to prevent it by giving them more time .... right? ..... douch

  • @sandouch1 Uhm, holy fuck.....are you retarded? Your previous comment had a shit load of sarcasm in it. Not to mention, natural disasters can happen fucking fast. Most of the times without notice. Giving people HOURS to get out of the way of the Tsunami is a really fucking good job. Most of the times it can be minutes.

So you should fucking thank them instead of calling them assholes, because they did their best to save lives and they did.

  • 1:40 man vs tsunami

  • @MrFool439 thats messed up

  • at 2:34 are those all crocodiles?

  • HARD NIPPLES

  • water is scarier than flame

  • EEEEEEEEE ASHXARH ASHXARH

  • If only we can grow tails when we need it.

  • Gooks can't swim

  • Not even The Exorcist film, mother nature can be the most spooky thing ever existed.

  • Oh...!!!. Sin palabras

  • pl. 20dollars2surf. c om /? ref=283162

  • Tsunami Center FAIL...did not alarm Japan ughh...

  • @amyOfEgypt Really, in 5 minutes you expect miracles? Get your facts straight!

  • @hnlrr YES I DO EXPECT MIRACLES ALWAYS! and its a miracle how did they get through it...im just depressed. if science can track em' out as they say b4 it comes wouldn't that be better? =D

  • @hnlrr yey i thought so that someone will snap lolz

  • Nuclear Fallout!!! Nuclear Fallout! Pants on the Floor Pants on the Floor!!!

Ok, what if, this is a big what if, most of the island is inhabitable for a century, will we see influx of japs in our country? Fuck, hawaii will be so fucking crowded...

  • @siliconsurf "Japs?" how bigoted!!

  • @hnlrr japs japs japs....i'm sure they have a special bigot term for you americans too...probably in the ballpark of dumb dingo.

  • @pudgimelon Why the hate? It's just a little video on tsunami basics. Of course it's going to be rudimentary. Audio and video are quite decent. I didn't see any sensationalism or exploitation here. Saying a wave is massive is not sensationalism. Looking for, and insisting upon, advanced geological knowledge in a three minute clip with this title is a far greater impediment to your education than NatGeo is.

  • I've thought about that little child on that beach at least once a month for years since the last tsunami. I can't even fathom being its mother on the cliff with her other children. Talk about a "Sophie's Choice" situation. Agony.

  • could at least subtitles are few who understand English I am Brazilian

  • when tsunami does not come in ppl's mind and heart then it comes like this.....it's telling something to every one.......there are more coming in our way....

  • fuck

  • Crap audio. Low quality, exploitive, sensationalistic video of the Boxing Day tsunami (one wonders if they even bothered to get the rights or did they just lift them off Youtube like everyone else). And a superficial, rudimentary explanation of tsunami mechanics supported by lame, 1980's-style animations

National Geographic, you should be better than this. Do yourself a favor & take this video down (& replace it with something that's actually educational). Wikipedia has better info than this

  • I like how the archive footage from the NOAA station in Hawaii is ten or fifteen years old.

  • 1:30 TITTY TITTY TITTY!!!

  • @3560IKEY this is nothing to joke about, but when i rewinded that i LOLED. i feel like a douche bag thanks ):

  • @3560IKEY LMFAO - He said "get in" "get in", "get in"

  • @3560IKEY rotfl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EPIC!

  • i heard on the radio that the japan tsunami went 6miles inland. is that true? if so thats freakin far

  • 1:42 and on broke me down.

  • Tsunamis are the biggest bitches in nature!

  • @spookespook noo cyclones are :LL

  • So sad.

  • 1:45 is as sad as it gets, God be with that child....

  • There is nothing we as humans can do to prevent earthquakes and tsunamis, but that being said, we are in no way helping our environment with our practices. We need to treat the Earth better, and maybe it will help a little bit. Not saying it will stop earthquakes or tsunamis, but it will help global warming and we can protect our forests and natural habitats of animals.

  • @kaczurda Human induced global warming is a hoax. If you are concerned about our environment, then I would suggest rather spend your time and effort on potentially dangerous stuff like nuclear reactors.

  • @oomblikkies Regardless of whether or not we cause global warming, the emissions of CO2 by our cars and the pollution caused by the burning of fossil fuels is detrimental to the environment. So maybe there is nothing we can do to prevent global warming (I myself belief that it is a natural phenomenon, but humans have a small contribution and are in no way helping to slow it down), but that doesn't mean we shouldn't change our practices that scientists believe could be affecting it.

  • You people should be quiet, We keep hitting mother nature so badly, The japanese killed dolphins, us the people need to learn to take care of the nature around us . This was only a warning, dont be surprised that mother nature swung back .

  • get in get in get in.

  • FUCK YOU TSUNAMi!

  • I have a feeling that kid didn't make it...

  • 7 people are from Japan.

    J/K; too soon.

  • @jgq85 wtf? are you some 10 year old kid that doesnt know what death feels like? go crawl back to your fucking hole, where your mom abuses you and doesnt feed you. fuck i wish people like you would seriously die the worst forms of dying im so fucking serious

  • @luigicook that was real mature. 1. ignore them. 2. your mom, seriously? 3. that was an immature response...

  • @luigicook

Oh I'm sure you care so much about Japan.

You'll be masturbating to Justin Bieber and watching Jersey Shore again in a week.

  • @jgq85 That's not something to joke about... :/

  • they are wrong about the warning, before a landfall the water goes out to sea, which will enlarge the beach, why someone would go out were the water used to be is beyond me, because the water is going to come back. when the water recedes, that is your natural sign to head inland to higher elevation, or stay put and drown.

  • @zZDeMoNiCBoYZz xDDD

  • Water is very powerful! Many years ago I was standing on the beach with my kids ,Marina Beach California. Next thing you know, we were in waist high water. That was just from the tide coming in. It was pretty scary at the time when you have two little kids and you are fighting the ocean current, trying to get to dry land.

  • this video makes me sad. :(

  • 0.o Watching this I got chills. I swear I saw a guy drown.... Damn I would love to see the full version of this!

  • potęga

  • -_- omg why is that person so stupid enough to sit and wait for the tsunami to hit him

  • @AsukaTenjouSS He knew he can't outrun it... but he knew he could save his energy and out swim it XD

  • @ICU2P

I think he died either way.

  • @AsukaTenjouSS He wouldn't have the time to reach a safe place anyway

  • Build large Earth-quake proof platforms, or piers sort of thing, where people can immediately escape.

  • did anyone else notice the uploaded date .... that's kinda ironic not the funny kind either :(

  • humanity deserve to be destroyed....

  • @0652411 who are you?????an animal

  • @niku10 we are rational animals. But I think we are specialy autodestructive, we need love more mother nature

  • the audio sucked

  • GODZILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ironically Hawaii was a target this time.

  • Sigh, the audio is worthless! I think you should be able to expect more/better from NationalGeographic....

Thumbs up so we get better audio next time! :)

  • @Hornystick get new speakers because my audio is fine.

  • @Hornystick i think your computer is just shit. turn everything up 100 % oh no you might die.

  • @Hornystick you're watching it free. calm down and quit bitching for thumbs up

  • Sigh, the audio is worthless! I think you should be able to expect more/better from NationalGeographic....

  • @antonb000

    You didn't capitalize "i".

    Take that. -___-

  • why does every video of nat. geo. has this top comment damn, nature, you scary!!

  • never understood beach front properties costing so much

  • This video is innacurate. Japan's was much worse.

Kind of odd how the earthquake and tsunami videos are shown in my subscription inbox the day of the horrible happening.

  • @TheLizGang This video was actually made several years ago, but was uploaded recently because of the recent interest in the formation of tsunamis.

  • @icarus212001 Oh, okay, got it. Thanks!

  • if there's 1 thing in this world that I'm afraid about.... a tsunami, dragging everything.... :S :(

  • i loved this

  • the end is near........

  • @nabeelsteen turban headed freak

  • Poor guy!! :(

  • People don't be shock because a mega wave (tsunami) Will come to the united States!!!

  • The end is near

  • a part of me died when I saw 1:39 Y___Y

  • I've been to Aceh after they had the tsunami in 2004, part of medical & relief crew team from Malaysia. 2 months dealing with thousands dead, rotting and bloated bodies... I lost count but I believe my 20 men crew savaged more than 10,000 corpses in the worst condition from everywhere. We had to use tractors & trucks to transport the dead bodies to the burial zone. Tsunami is nothing to joke or laugh about.... 200,000 people died in Aceh alone with only 1 swipe.

  • DAMN, NATURE, YOU SCARY!!!

  • @SideSwipez77 thats what u say when ur sittingin ur fcking room watching people die ? such a idiot you got no sympathy.

  • @zerx125 yup, its called freedom of speech. whether you like it or not =]

  • @SideSwipez77 Yeah, and it's scum like you that abuse freedom of speech. Look, you've embarrassed yourself enough and have been bombarded by others who are here to learn and understand what causes such massive devastation and loss of life. Just do this tiny piece of YouTube a favor and go find a video to make Justin Bibier remarks, or ask for thumbs up, just leave this corner for us to pay respects and learn more about the world. Idiot!
