all the big shopping streets have lightts like that. the stores pay for it. kudamm and unter den linden have lights, too.

at 18.00 the huge party starts at Brandenburger Tor, they expect 1 Mill. people again. and it is darn cold.

ich weiss auch dass es wenig nützt.

Dennoch nützt es ein klein wenig, wenn man sich dann mit einzelnen Leuten ein wenig näher beschäftigt und ihnen zumindest ein klein wenig andere Sichtweisen vermitteln kann.

Es sind immer ganz ganz kleine Schritte.

Von den "hohen Herrschaften" erwart ich mir da nichts.

Dec 1 to 24. Anticipation. That is what the numbers are. "We had a lil pretend cardboard house that had lil boxes behing each window holding candy and you open each window as the days unfold to Christmas.." We call it Adventskalender...

we have many streets like that until new year`s day. huge electricity bill ;-) you do not need a flashlight to find your key here.

I was wondering what the numbers were in the tree lights? Do they count up or down to something? Days to new years maybe?

We get our presents on the 24th, evening.

Children get a calender that counts 24 days from Dec 1st to 24th, every day they open a little box and there is candy in it.

From Dec. 1st till Christmas anticipation...

that is what the numbers mean (counting up).

I bet that makes it even more a special time of year for them...the anticipation would be great...I love that commercial with the little boy saying "we're to excited to sleep".

we have Advent. 4 Sundays before Christmas we light candles. First Sunday 1 candle, 2nd 2 candles... well adventskalender opening little doors and finding chocolated on 24 days for the children is similar.

Yes the children get all excited. It is cute.

Was a rough year but counting my blessings it was a good one.

Christmas I spent with my stone old parents and loved it.
