  • Best ost ever.. stage 1 and boss bgm stick with me til this day

  • Yo narox, maybe you could help me out here. I was looking for this side scroller on SNES that had a samurai go though these long levels. His main weapon was some kind of long weapon, and the enemies were these mystic demons and goblins. Any ideas?

  • Hmmm, I can only think of Ninja Warriors.

  • @chriscj

Musya: A Japanese Tale of Horror might be what you mean.

  • @RocMegamanX Wow man. You were dead on! That's exactly it. Took me more than a decade of looking for this. thanks a million

  • @chriscj

    No problem!

  • It's consistent. :)

  • Yeah, when I first saw the image for this, it reminded me of Spellcaster. Never knew Spellcaster had a sequel :)

  • Wow, this game looks very unique, surprised a lot of these you've showcased as of late I've never heard of.

  • I am glad you are discovering these games. There are some nifty games in the early 1990s. :)

  • looks odd

  • I love the look of this title. Very retro. I find it quite challenging, and I love it. =)

  • Man here is a blast from the past! I owned this one and Last Battle around the same time years back.

Great stuff here Narox thanks for bring back the good memories for me buddy.

  • We live through our memories. Glad to remind bud.

  • Funny that you mentioned that! When I picked up Mystic Defender, I also picked up Last Battle at the same time!

Last Battle is one of my least favourite games. I hated the repetative stages but enjoyed the boss battles. Although the gameplay is monotonous, I found the sprite designs of the bosses very well done!

  • Last Battle not the greatest game in the world but i had fun playing it years ago and little did i know then i was playing a "Fist of The NorthStar" game cool stuff lol.

  • Excellent game with very appealing graphics. It does get very challenging at times though. Took me a long time to beat it.

  • merlin196,

i am glad to hear that you enjoyed the game as much as I! I remember spending months on end figuring out how to pass the lava stage. When it got too frustrating the cartridge out and popped in Golden Axe! =P

  • At least you beat it. Well done. :)

  • Yes, and i never even owned a game Genie to do that! =P

  • I picked this up recently from ebay and the damn cart didn't work :(

  • Yee ha-a-a! Mystic Defender! For some strage reason it is one of my favourite 2D platformers! I remember picking up this game in the summer of 1990 or 91' and just playing the first two stages. I put the game down as soon as I saw the green blobs and dancing babies. How weird is that! Once you get to stage 3 and learn to utlilize the different assortment of weapons at your disposal do you truly enjoy this game! Some will dislike this game. I don't!

  • Haha dancing green babies. Since this game gets your approval the its gotta be good. Thanks for sharing. :D

  • Oh it is good! The one thing I loved doing is using that flame thrower weapon and directing it towards the enemy! The joy of this game is determining which weapon to use during a certain part within a level! At the time, alot of reviewers dismissed the game as just a regular platformer! It was not ground breaking but in my humble opinion it was a very fun challenging game.
