I wonder if Johnj1582 is from The Colony, I remember that year after the Birdville Contest when TC beat Bell by .04 points, Bell stopped fuckin' around and beat the pants off everyone else from then on. I even heard that after prelims Joe Gryzbowski told the Bell band that they had perfomed like The Colony, and said it as an insult. We hated you guys with a passion. I was part of that The Colony band and this show still amazes me. Thanks for posting.
well see here's the thing. my comment was not directed at you, or any member of the bell band. why so defensive? all I'm saying is that it's not really impressive when you do it three years running. Whether it is a tribute or not is inconsequential. It was simply a poor decision.
@johnj1582 If I seem defensive, it's because a lot of hard work went into those shows and I don't appreciate you saying it was lazy. If you watched the 98/99/00 videos on my channel, you would see that they are in fact 3 different award-winning shows.
my point was that no other band in the state found fielding a completely new show every year too difficult. i'm not saying the band isn't/wasn't good, I'm saying that it's lazy not to put on a new show.
Yep. Two spots you dont want to make a mistake in. That last move and the block just before it where the lines interweave (aka "tenor block" Bell called it), hes lucky he didnt get seriously injured.
how in the hell is it possible to be so talented and percise...love rosza's music...i am so impressed by this i am shaking. if i saw it live, i probably would have passed out....[but not till the end!]
i was just looking at some marching shows on youtube and right before this i watched exodus by LD Bell and just happen to notice that the ending is exactly the same. Oh and btw great show =D
the band im marcing with is going to be playing the introduction and the battle then the ballad which we havent got yet and movement three but our band director Mark Eck has changed some of the music around i cant wait to start playing it
Wonderful performance. The title says "King of Kings" but I didn't hear any melody from Rozsa's King of Kings. Did I missed? I hear Miklos Rozsa's "Quo Vadis" "Ben Hur" and "El Cid" though. Whoever picked the music has excellent taste!
In 2002 state was at Waco also, during that competition, as "tbonesfa" said, many people were injured during their shows. That and as well has the field conditions lead the prelim rankings to be certified as the final ranks for that year. As for 5A the alamodome was used from '04 and on.
It's at Floyd Casey Stadium on the Baylor University campus. They moved it to the AlamoDome after it rained heavily one state year, and several kids were injured during their shows.
I was in The Colony's band this year, and I was always very impressed by your performances. I was surprised that we split the 4 competitions we had that year.
I assume since you have this show frome state, that you might have others...If you have the Leander band show I would love it if you posted it...please please please...I remember sitting in the stands after our finals performance watching this and just waving the white flag in defeat...DAMN!!
That show was worth all the blood sweat and tears we poured into it. If you have any others (BOA Houston finals, Miracle and Finale, etc) please post them up.
I was there in Waco when they performed this show and will tell you this video and sound quality does no justice how musically strong and clean their marching performance was. (their spacing was as precise as I will ever see a hs marching band do - no one has impressed me since, with respect to marching a clean drill and playing it so strongly ...just watch their 2001 show... it was great, but their 2000 performance was flawless (well I remember seeing a flute fall in diagonal run at the end)
I wholeheartedly concur... I didn't even notice the fall until I bought the state video a few months later. Despite that error, there were so many things right with this show that made it stick out from all the other bands' performance. Also, I have a friend who is an LD Bell alum who marched in that show.
we're marching this show as well! it's awesome..does anybody have the exact notes for the run portion of the french horn solo? any help would be appreciated! :)
I could watch every L.D. Bell show continuously. They're all so good!

still a self aggrandizing dick after 11 years?

@johnj1582 You came to my video and started this. We had 3 different shows. Get over it.
Suriahlin 11 months ago
seriously how many years in a row were you guys gonna do the same show?
i mean, really. you put down your instruments for the "death drill" anyway. not impressed.
I will say, Bell's feet were always clean. i guess that happens when you have 3 years in a row to learn your charts...
johnj1582 11 months ago
@johnj1582 It was 3 different shows with tributes to the previous shows included. Still bitter after 11 years?

I am not a fan of LD Bell's shows of past years. They are a lot more drama than marching and playing! I have to admit though, this is pretty beast.
tootmyhorn8295 2 years ago
@tootmyhorn8295 yeah in recent years it's been pretty alright but it needs the marching band style of old... not to old I mean the 2000
