tommy would have won whether goldar takled too much or not, it was at the point when he realized there was no hope that he bounced back, if goldar wouldnt have talked so much tommy would have gotten to the point quicker and did exactlly what he did. Tommys character was meant to be the "harness the loner emotion and make it a weapon" so he would have won either way
