  • i wounder if that dreamcast you brought over from japan, could you change the languages at that time or where you stuck on japanes cause that would seem like quite a pain

  • The Dreamcast launch was so exciting, eh?

  • Dude! My parents sent me to Vegas for my Graduation from film school last year :)

  • Not so expensive, here in Brazil the launch price was R$1200,00 or roughly 700 canadian dollars today, ONLY the system, no games and only one controller. =(

  • i had mine for christmass in france when the console just lunched,i was so exited!

my longest play ever was on this console (1000 hours on pso !)

  • I remember buying mine early it was really awsome, i think those days of excitement are kind of dead now though. Consoles used to take massive leaps into the unknown and now its far too predictable with effortless high res graphics and no gameplay.

  • @MrSplodyboom could not agree more mate i have never been soo exited for a system before the dc and never since

  • @segafan1986 If all of a sudden sega or nintendo or a new game company came out of nowhere, not taking itself seriously in a crazy looking box, with back dated graphics and game carts i would jump on it over any next gen console lol.

  • The Sega Master System is STILL the best video game console ever.

  • Getting a Dreamcast was the greatest gaming day of my life, I got Sonic and Blue Stinger, faked illness at school for a week and left my room only for the toilet and food. My fave games on it are Shenmue, Street Fighter 3 and SEga Rally. Great times, I wish there would be a Dreamcast 2, will never happen, but still nice to have dreams!

  • i know that true sega fans like myself , are waiting for the next sega console (dreamcast 2) i hope , rather than the next nintendo wii wii U or what ever its gonna be called, or the next xbox , and sony has not mention anything about the next ps4 , they're too busy right now promoting the ps vita .......SEGA

  • @argedismun2 as cool as that. its for the most part not likly. sega crashed and they dont really have the sales to launch another console. and i dont really think most people would buy a new sega console. ps3 and 360 are at each others throats. and nintendo needs to start getting more adult games. in todays market sega would fail

  • @mak7070 @mak7070 theres no argument on that , but dont forgrt how sega fail with the saturn and came back with the dreamcast and it was so innovating ahead of its time and change the whole video game industry, if only they would install a damn dvd player ,, well just search for this video on youtube an one on one interview with Aaron webber ( sega's brand manager) when asked about a new sega console perhaps the dreamcast 2 he reply " i ca'nt comment, so from a solid NO to this , theres hope

  • thanks for these great stories. me I will never forget the dreamcast either and in fact I was just playing it some minutes ago. power stone thanks to this video! I got one at european launch from my mom and remember being impressed by the graphics and gameplay. I had ready to rumble boxing and virtua fighter 3. I've never seen a bigger revolution in a new generation as with the dreamcast

  • I liked the stories. Cool vid.

  • my favorite game on the dreamcast was giga wing, oh my god

  • umm PS1 is far more superior

  • @HoldThisHandTightly yeah keep on dreaming beacuse us dreamcast onwers were able to play tekken 3 metal gear soild and a racing game on the dreamcast and the disc was called bleemcast tdon't belibb=ve look it up

  • THIS REVIEW made me bring out my Dreamcast after over a year of not playing. Thank you.

  • You never mentioned Phantasy Star Online! :O But I saw it in the pile. :P

  • Lol i loved listening to you guys, you are true gamers... Yes i know this kind of super fucking happiness, only a new console can bring it to you

  • Dreamcast is indeed one of the best consoles ever.. Along with ps1 they are my two personal favorites

  • Aaaahhh.. the Dreamcast, I think it's the system with the best good vs bad game ratio of any console made thanks to it not getting the attention of the shovelware companies since even as it was on it's way out was still a bit too high end in development. It's also one of the only systems that I can think of where I can honestly say that I've played everything that I wanted to play on it, a hard thing to say on any system.

  • is there a nuba 4

  • Subscribed ; )

  • Dc is still alive in us all. It will. Never die

  • It's thinking.

  • You make me proud to be a gamer, sir.

  • I have dreamcast, buy it in 2001 (just when sega announce they STOP making dreacast and just moment after that, dreamcast price drop almost to $99 per-console.

But honestly, dreamcast is pretty good system, my favorite dreamcast games is Sonic Adventure 2, Soul Calibur, and Dead or Alive.

  • The Dreamcast was easily the best console of its generation, it really set the bar. The original Xbox was just a big black chunky Dreamcast clone.

  • Im building my dreamcast collection right now, message me if you have anything you might want to let go. anyone....

  • My favorite game for the dreamcast had to be either street fighter 3rd strike or san francisco rush 2049.

  • Comment removed

  • grandia 2 is one i just discovered. great game

  • The road to Hell is paved with Dreamcasts.

  • If the Dreamcast was so amazing, why was it not successful? I just fail to understand it!!

  • @joaovictor1994 lack of sales in japan and other things

  • @Th3Sabator45 aww =/

  • @joaovictor1994 in 2001 the xbox was coming ps2 gamecube and there was tomany and one had to go

  • @theretrogamerno1 Hmm. But SEGA was one of the big guys! SEGA, Nintendo and Sony were already in the console business, and already had a crapload of fans. If one had to go, it shouldn't have been any of these 3.

  • @joaovictor1994 yes thats true who was microsoft? but maybe it was just that they didn't sell enough

  • @theretrogamerno1 They weren't in the console business, dude.

Its like Mcdonald's decides to make pizza and Pizza Hut stops making it, because Mcdonald's sells more food than them.

Just doesn't make sense. BTW I am aware that Mcdonald's has already tried to implement pizza to their menu and failed but that's beside the point xD

  • @joaovictor1994 Well that's not really true microsoft did pc game's

  • @theretrogamerno1 Yes they did. But not any console or console games that I'm aware of. They were new in the console world, dude.

  • @joaovictor1994 Well if you saw the card's on the table at that time you had a very sophisticated online service so there's the answer mate

  • @theretrogamerno1 Dude, the Dreamcast also had online capabilities.

  • @joaovictor1994 Yeah read my message again i said sophisticated online service's and they had more money

  • @theretrogamerno1 Sophisticated or not, it worked. Besides I'm sure that wasn't the reason why the Dreamcast failed. I mean nowadays there's a crapload of games with some sort of multiplayer on them, but back then few games had online features.

    My question is still unanswered.

  • @joaovictor1994 Well i no the answer just like everyone you just keep asking question's

  • @theretrogamerno1 Isn't that what makes us human? :)

  • @joaovictor1994 you don't make eny sence

  • @theretrogamerno1 Oh I do. More than you can possibly imagine. But hey, let us go about our businesses now. This conversation won't lead us anywhere, so we might aswell just let it die. It was nice talking to you though.

    Merry Christmas :)

  • @joaovictor1994 u r a a bit funny is it because your wrong

  • @theretrogamerno1 Thank you, and no, if I'm funny as you say, it might be because that's just who I am. Who knows.

    Also Happy New Year :)

  • @joaovictor1994 yea ok let's just agree to disagree

  • @theretrogamerno1 There we go, see it wasn't all that hard was it?

You should rest now, your mind has worked too much for today.

  • @joaovictor1994 i like the fact you use your other account to thumb your self i mean who the fuck does and don't bother to reply i no your little secret

  • @theretrogamerno1 Other account? Nah buddy this is the one and only account I've ever created since 2007. I don't need other accounts, why would I. Someone's thumbing me up I guess. Or maybe you are, and you're making this up.

Besides I'm looking at my comments now and none of them have any thumbs up, so it might be just some kind of bug, maybe?

  • @joaovictor1994 what ever don't care

  • @theretrogamerno1 Of course you don't.

  • @joaovictor1994 ..i..

  • n64 is better!!

  • stop using the word nostalgia!!!

  • 5 people are from Son...err Dogma!

  • @MrCrackersncheese or trolls

  • Dreamcast flopped in Australia. Too expensive.

    Great console though

  • Resident Evil Code Veronica. BEST GAME EVER!

  • powerstone kicked ass.

  • I hear sonic adventure station square music in the background :D

  • I loved this console.

  • i got my Dreamcast and i came out from the store with an big black plasticpag and my Wife didnt like it (actually she was pissed) (we had short of money at the time) but later she said that ill had to make sure that she learned to play it allso!!

Got Sonic and the VMU...but i couldnt play it cause i needed an RF adapter cause my TV didnt have an SCART. an d i had to wait it for a week.

    Ah the memories

  • You'll never see another EB games again.

  • man this guys really have hard ons for eachother, I bet they did some freaky sex, VMUs up the ass, clamping their balls in the disc tray, bonding their dicks in the dreamcast controller wire.

  • dreamcast is the best console ever, I remember the first time I played it with sonic adventure shenmue and jet set radio wow good memories

  • @juancarlosnerv agree

  • @juancarlosnerv lets be realistic. The dreamcast is not the best console ever.

  • @B3NN10N your kidding nothing is better then the dreamcast bitch

  • @juancarlosnerv Jetset and Shenmue (and their sequels on Xbox) are amongst the best games of the last 10 years.

  • dreamcast was awesome, way ahead for its time, sad it went away the way it did

  • dreamcast is one of my favorite systems :D

  • i have 2 dreamcasts and a bucket full of games for it

  • haha you guys rock. You comments are what I felt like when I bought my NES. I never bought a dreamcast but a friend of mine did and too bad it went away.

  • I'm getting a Dreamcast and I can't deside for my life if i should get power stone 1 or 2. Please tell me whichi one i should get, and why!

  • The Dreamcast was the console with the better games ever made for it. Sad its gone.

  • I would give my right eye to spend a day just "remembering" the dreamcast. I guess it's better to burn out then to fade away. I think every 6 months or so, I religiously google "shenmue 3" and "dreamcast 2", I know better but i do it anyway. I remember coming home with mine, and along with it, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur and Flag 2 Flag. To this day i will hook up my concept 4 racing wheel just to play Ferrari F355. Best console ever. Mine just bit the dust so until i get a new one, NullDC.

  • My favorite console with the Famicom !

    Fuck the PS360/WII generation !

Probably the console even today !

  • I only got a Dreamcast 3 years ago - my brother lent me all of his consoles and games while he was moving and when he was finished he just told me to keep it. Couldn't believe it - I got a DC with two controllers and two VMUs as well as Shenmue 1&2, Phantasy Star, Headhunter, Tomb Raider, GTA2, Vanishing Point and some other games... I was almost glad when I got sick during the next holidays so I had to stay in my room xD

  • I totally only own 3 consoles today. PS2, Wii, and FREAKIN DREAMCAST!!!

  • sonic adventure. damn. old school.

  • Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Sonic Adventure, Crazi Taxi, Code Veronica, Blue Stinger...

Dreamcast was jizz in your pants awesomeness!

  • i am buying a dreamcast and want to know some good games to buy for it.

    any ideas?

  • @Laytonlink Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Shenmue, SoulCalibur, Jet Grind Radio (AKA: Jet Set Radio) and many more.

  • nice video for the best console in my opinion!

    keep the good work!

  • skies of arcadia ruklz

  • The USA launch was awesome!

  • dreamcast had great arcade games especially marvel vs. capcom! some good RPGs too like skies of arcadia

  • robman with hair doesnt look so tough lol. :p anyhow yes the dreamcast is great , got it at launch and still playing it .

  • 500 dollar but still think of all the stuff you got for it unlike 600 for the PS3

The system with the best starting line up period

  • Better than any current gen console!

  • The Sega Dreamcast was a great, Arcade, Fighter, sports, and online system. I created a site called allsega.com back then with it, yup I learned html with lol. Once I bought Quake III Arena I never played another game. My best online gaming days. I still own it with pretty much all the games :)

  • I saved up all summer for one of these. I kept going back to Software, Ect. like it was a bank to put money down.

  • Funny that you brought one of the first ones, where as I brought one of the last ones.

I remember working my ass off for a PS2, but when none of them were for sale because of high demand, I saw a lonely looking Dreamcast sitting on a shelf in EB, so I thought "I will buy it" It came with Resident evil Code Veronica. I was very happy. It introduced me to Shenmue, which is a cool game.

  • best reviews on youtube. imho

  • Cool Story Bro(s)

  • Why did Rob spend that much on a Dreamcast if his brother already gave him one? Did it break?

  • Wow that's a lot to spend on a dreamcast! but I believe it. I just got a dreamcast, 2 controllers, vmu, and 15 games for a little under 100$

  • Dreamcast was the BOMB I played it when I was a kid man you guys have tha games for dreamcast I played and fell in loved with while playing the dreamcast

  • Dreamcast was the BOMB I played it when I was a kid

  • Yeah Powerstone was awesome I had the demo.

  • POwerstone was awesome

  • maybe it's just my own speculation, but i felt if sega didn't fire stolar, i think dreamcast could have been a bigger success. he was the reason why the launch in america was a success. if sega continued to keep him around, i think he could have extended that success to the rest of its potential lifespan.

  • HappyConsoleGamer YOU ROCK!! first when i saw dreamcast i thought it's lame but when saw your video about dreamcast you changed my mind....i never thought dreamcast has such an amazing games but now i do

    Thank you, HappyConsoleGamer :DD

  • Hey Snake2006 Get Off MY internet! Jackass!!!

  • I have great memories about getting my dreamcast too. I remember playing Soul Calibre for the first time and being completely blown away by what i was seeing. So many great games on what was for me the greatest console ever. Thanks for the nostalgia trip

  • I basically had a heart attack when I got my Dreamcast. It passed all my expectations.

  • HCG slips out an "eh"!

  • to me i had some good memories of the dreamcast... the awesome collection of arcade fighters along with skies of arcadia and grandia were great times. But to me they haven't kept up over the years. Sonic adventure amazed me at the time but now its a pile of garbage.

  • LMAO!! tell me, has anyone else played their dreamcast so long it kinda broke down on them?!? I was in the middle of a shenmue marathon.. I was close to the end and I wanted to finish it no matter what. I beat the game, turned off the console and it was burning as shit!! >=D

  • I've owned every SEGA system apart from the Nomad,& without a doubt the DREAMCAST is the best console I've ever owned, along with my SEGA SATURN 50/60hz(Japanese compatable)console. This is coming from somebody who's owned every home console from the major players in the games industry. It was a very sad day when SEGA left the hardware buisness!

  • That always seemed like the dream, to bring the arcade experience home. Obviously the technology just wasn't there with the Atari and NES matching the graphics. Arcade to console ports just weren't on par, but they definitely got better with the Genesis and Snes.

Now'a days the consoles caught up with the arcades in terms of graphics. I guess that was the pay off in the end, we got the arcade quality, but the arcades died out because of it. Kind of sad when I think about it.

  • i want that fucking dreamcast shirt! nice!

  • we bought a dreamcast recently, there was a family crisis when my brother broke it when he got too excited after beating sonic adventure ;)

  • thank god I still have a dreamcast

  • the dreamcast is like a real dream..it was awesome but to short!

  • best DreamCast memory, RE:CV... the best old-style RE's... first impression was the AWSOME intro cg movie but the absolute winner is the life-bar in the controller and the heartbeating when opening certain doors... DreamCast is still one of the best video game console achievments and I love you two for uploading this vid. 5/5

  • OMFG is that an Earthbound (w multitap) box I see at the left edge of the middle shelf in between u2 guys?!?!

    PS: Dreamcast FTMFW!!!

  • Sonic Adventure 2 is my favourite game EVAR... you don't understand... OF ALL TIMES!!!

  • @HaloCharisma Agreed, Sonic Adventure 2 will be always my Favorite game of all time.

  • you guys are right sega should come back

ps i heard about a console called the sega phoenix

  • I always thought the console itself was beautiful. really sleek, sharp angles and stylish. Even today I think its probably the most handsome console.

  • I really like the enthusiasm in your reviews. Reminds me of my own nerdy days with buddies back in the day. Great job - keep the videos comin' :)

  • Hopefully a dreamcast 2 is on the way.

  • 7:15 looks like the language of the elder scrolls skyrim some of the symbols

  • Ommmgg i was little kid im 6 yr old im play that game sonic im legend at 3:14 and 7:05 i love this game

  • Soul Reaver was awesome and beautifull.

  • Why did the dreamcast have to die...I loved that damn thing lol

  • He's the Happy console gamer, And his gaming neighbour Rob-Man,they play old games all day, They search the stores, also Ebay. He's got a collection everyone should see, He's retro and plays his Master system in 3D. They play games from the eighties to new releases, They collect guides, and books, it never ceases, cos he's the Happy console gamer, so do yourself a favour, when your on the tube just watch the show from Sega, Sony,Micro to Nintendo
  • 3 words: Skies. of. Arcadia.

  • memories =) , i remember when i saw sonic adventure , i couldnt believe it, it was the japanese version and i had to wait like 6 months fot the american release of both console and game, i got mine back in 99 with virtua fighter 3 and sonic adventure , i cried lol, i remember when i played marvel vs capcom 2 in my home and said dude that is THE ARCADE , I HAVE AN ARCADE IN MY HOUSE.

  • My god guys... I feel the same.

My Dreamcast experience does not compare at all to any other console I've ever owned in the past.

Not only was it so advanced for its time.. but it also had an absolutely magnificent library of games.

Thanks for this video... it reminded me of how special that winter was for me (I was in Europe, haha)

    Btw.. SUBSCRIBED!

    I love you guys!

  • Love the sonic adventure theme in the background

  • It's funny that you mention the guy at ebgames (or electronics boutique as it was known back then) with the import dreamcast... because we had the same thing going on at my local store in new jersey back before the system came out. oh and I still have that dreamcast shirt too, faded black and everything, totally wore that to school the day after I got mine =)

  • I really love my dreamcast I have about 100 games for it I FUCKING LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm buying an HTC Thunderbolt, then a 3DS, but after that, I am definitely getting a Dreamcast. xD

  • I remember waking up early back in 1999, just to go buy the Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure. I spent the whole day playing Sonic.

  • dreamcast was awesome at the time. i remember being amazed at the time. Now days most of the games are outdated or have been ported to other systems. The only one i can't think of is Daytona that wasn't ported...

  • Blows me away today how an old DC can still work been around the block few times . Compared to Consoles now days i went through 17 Original XBOXs & 20 XBOX 360s . I pop in Hydro Thunder the other day on My DC works like a Charm. You gotta love craftsmanship back in the days they cared about what they was putting out & took pride in their work . Still have My Father's Atari 2600 with all the games , controllers , & everything STILL works . Classic Consoles FTW !!!!

  • @xDOUBTMENOWx are you serious? you went through 17 xboxes and 20 xbox 360's??? You not suppose to be putting bombs in your system... i've never had a system go down on me yet, my nes still works and i own like 18 systems.

  • Sega never really gave the Dreamcast a chance. They launched the Dreamcast, and shortly after the PS2 was launched they declared the Dreamcast a failure. What the hell!

  • you should start thinking about relacing your shelves in the backround its starting to bend it will start breaking and all you stuff will fall

great vid your better than avgn

  • Till this day, still my favorite console:)

  • Long live the dreamcast

  • Best system ever. Damn you, Sony, for ruining Sega D:

  • @zomgcontraishard Sony was doing what any competent company did, and the PS2 owns, Sega made some fail mistakes that cost them, not Sony's fault, it's like saying I'm going to make you reply to this comment, it's my fault :D

  • @FeeLtheHertZ Yeah, but think:

PS2 and Dreamcast weren't cheap consoles.

Dreamcast instantly dominated in graphics, and they had, HELLO! Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Power Stone, Chu Chu Rocket, AND Phantasy Star Online! It was a great console.

It took PS2 some time to get good graphics and games in their consoles. Really, the main reason why PS2 is one of the consoles with the most games is because PS2 quite possibly outlived any other company in its generation. More time is equal to more games.

  • @zomgcontraishard The DC really did have the potential to easily have a 5-7 year lifespan, was better thought out programmability wise, had better features in some aspects such as VGA out as standard, eight MC slots w/ each having a screen of their own, model built it etc., PS2 had the HDD as standard USB slots, port for modem, DVD drive and optical out, both awesome systems, I do wish teh DC lived longer, it was a fantastic machine.

  • @FeeLtheHertZ Continuing my reply:

I do get what you mean. But, the Dreamcast was a beastly-like console with a lot innovation on it.

Seriously, I think that Sega is second most innovative gaming company ever when it involves with hardware. First is obviously Atari. xD

But, I think there was something fishy going on there in the dark realms of the gaming business world.

Nonetheless, everyone has their opinion, so I'm not going to go apeshit on ya because you prefer a console over another.

  • @zomgcontraishard Haha, absolutely, I think Sony is by far the most innovative when it comes to hardware; the Emotion Engine in the PS2 was unlike any other processors and proved to be as powerful as the Xbox when pushed to its limits, fay outclassing anything on the Dreamcast (God of War I & II, for example), then there's the Cell processor which Sony put passion into w/ the sum of like 400 million dollars and it's proving it's weight in gold w/ released like Uncharted and Killzone.

  • @FeeLtheHertZ I suppose you are right. Sega HAS made hasty decisions. (still do, they're the crappiest, really.) Yeah, Sony was pretty good in these aspects!
