Footnotes and Endnotes In Word 2010

phew thanks....I've just spent the last half hour trying to get a footnote in from the "insert" options

Okay, wonderful! I now see that because I have the Starter version of Microsoft Word, I am not allowed to insert endnotes!!!!!  This is the biggest load of B.S. that I've seen come out of Microsoft for a while. Guess I will uninstall this crap version and go back to my old 2003 version of Office, it's better software anyway!

Is there a way to add footnotes without the 'reference' tool bar? I have this version, but it doesn't have the 'reference' tool bar. My college computers use the same version, and do have the option to add footnotes the way you have shown, but I can't seem to on my home computer.
