you should definitely continue for sure. just constantly refine your skills, go for exactness in what you are trying to do, as in set up a vision and then try to implement it, and then study the hell out of other tracks to build up your repertoire of inspiration. much love!
Hey, yes, I used Massive plugin in Ableton for the bass, because I find that the simpler tool couldn't produce the deep low frequencies I was looking for.
keep at it! don't keep going with this track, make a new project and spend an hour on it, then stop, and work on a new one for another hour .. do that over and over, it will keep things fresh and you will develop a rhythm for production, it is great practice
Hey, lol are we talking about the same track here? the drum beat in this track is pretty plain, straight forward,
just use the piano roll editor, and have the clip divided into 32 sub sections, so you have more control over the placement of the kicks and so on, make centz?
PS I have a few tracks floating around on youtube lol
Like this track a lot. Ill favorite this and if you keep 'em comin' I'll subscribe. Gimme some super duby beats and make sure you can hear them through the oscilation haha. Keep slapping
I made this track, in Ableton live 8, Ive been using the program for a week now, and I would just like some feed back, should I carry on? Has this short track got potential? "Is it a pile of SH#T? Its a very laid back, mellow snippet. Please rate. Thanks Lacey

Get some punchier drum samples. Layer at least 2 kicks one high-ish and one low.
