  • The russians came out of nowhere

  • Being tall such as 6ft is an advantage in swimming ?

  • @TheLeilisa

A little bit, definitely a big advantage for sprinters, but then again Kitajima is only 5"9 and he's the best breastroker in the world, so height is not everything.

  • @TheBradleyC4 i need to grow taller so i found this product named " helpo growth formula" it works for me.

  • dont talk too much mate, let us see you do 1.43 twice.

you make it sound so easy

  • @nahting ha. mate.

  • yea and he also went 3 seconds slower than his best time in this relay.

  • so he was out of shape. he obviously cares about his country. shut the fuck up, troll.

  • @MVPacMan23 Michael Phelps doesnt step it up on relays, thats all im saying. You would think he would be within a second of his time from a few days ago but hes not...

  • @healyc

#1 Phelps went 1.1 seconds slower than he did earlier, not 3.

#2 This was a back-to-back event with the 100 fly, which he had a phenomenal swim in, he only had a little over 20 minutes to recover.

#3 I'm tired of people criticizing phelps. He was still the fastest on this relay, as he went from a flat start. Without Phelps USA can forget the medley relay at competitions like this.

  • @TheBradleyC4

    Michael Phelps (1:44.49)

    Ricky Berens (1:44.13)

    David Walters (1:45.47)

    Ryan Lochte (1:44.46)

Phelps was the 2nd slowest time...

  • @healyc

You obviously do not swim competitively. He swam from a FLAT START. The flat start is slower than the relay takeover by 0.5-0.8 seconds, which mostly takes place in the first 50. Phelps SWAM the fastest, he didn't necessarily have the fastest time. After reseach on rankings.swimming.ca , phelps lead-off is in fact faster than any of those other 3's best time.

  • @TheBradleyC4 since when does a relay start save .8 sec??? at the most .5 seconds, and in a 200 free its negligable.

  • @healyc

Even half a second is never negligable, that half second would have made him the fastest regardless. The average reaction time for competitive swimming, from what I've experienced, can be anywhere from 0.5 - 0.8. I'm not that fast getting off the blocks, my fastest ever has been 0.67. I've seen swimmers take a second to get off, I've seen some swimmers take 0.50, it's a pretty big range. And what I said still stands, that time was faster than any of the other 3's best times.

  • @TheBradleyC4 i do swim competitively and I know that a relay start in an 800 free relay can make a difference of .5 absolute max. Even so hes still seconds over his best time.

  • @healyc

yo you know he just finished his friken butterfly race cut him some slack

  • @healyc yeah you got pwned you dumbass.

  • @dofaan

  • @dofaan Rowdy Gaines: "Not the best relay leg..."

  • @healyc

Rowdy doesn't realize the strength of the American team, and phelps' role on the team. He, just like you, have come to just expect great swims from michael phelps. He is still a great swimmer, adding some time every now and then is to be expected. Especially after coming off a world record 100 fly, a gold medal he earned in his LZR, against full polyurethane suits. So just shut up, phelps did just fine.

  • @healyc Firstly, he went just 1.2sec slower then what he did earlier. Secondly, he was tired after the 200m butterfly relay he swam 20 minutes ago, lets see you try to do your record after 200m butterfly. And the last thing, Biederman went 0.81 secs slower then his individual relay, and he hasnt swam 200m butterfly before that race. Why you dont say anything bad about him?

  • yeah and he also went 1:43.3 just off his best time in beijing in the 4x2

  • Yeah, what are you talking about? He set the American Record for his lead off leg during the 4x100 Free in Beijing before Jason Lezak came back with his 46.

  • wOW Phelps is a pussy. He cares more about himself than his team mates or his country. He can never step it up for relays.

  • What are you talking about, Phelps' freestyle was rusty throughout the 2009 WC. He just didn't had the time to train like he had for the Olympics and the 2007 WC. In the medley relay, his butterfly leg put the gold medal for the USA in the bag.

  • Do you have any of the women races?
