This one was made at the G&L factory on Fender Ave in Fullerton, CA. It's suffered its share of abuse, falling from a trunk onto asphalt and once from shoulder height onto a wood floor. Still stays in tune forever. For a bunch of wood sewn together with bolts and glue it has stayed true.
Love the pickguard - is this an American made model? I guess the Tribute line is non American made. I hear good things about the American made G&L line and I think they are also a great value for those looking to stay American made. What is your experience so far?
Great playing & gorgeous guitar! I had a gold sparkle ASAT with P-90's and a birds eye maple neck that was gun oil tinted like yours. Great guitar; I will always miss it.
@dragonboy2992 A G&L is as good as, or better than, its Fender counterparts. As the saying goes, most of your tone comes from your hands, not your equipment.
Nice playing, i was looking at one of these at a very good price as an alternative to a good quality mim tele, does it have the tele type feel, that larger than tele headstock would make it more strat like I would imagine, what do you think ??,
Phil--It's an extremely light guitar, made with swamp ash wood. I'm not an expert on what teles feel like, but it does feel "tele like" to me--thin, 7.5 radius (though comes in diff ones, and can really nail a tele snap. A little more flexibility in sound than a tele with the humbucker and the hot Leo Fender MFD pu.
Thanks for your reply. I received my ASAT Classic (Tribute) last week. Those pup's really are hot....alot of range, and they retain their character with differing volume settings. This guitar is a nice addition to my collection...and i got it off of eBay for $300 to boot. rgds, Andrew B.
ASAT single coil in bridge position has a great cut-through tone. Very hot. Not as fat as Les Paul, but same razor effect. ASAT humbucker though not at all hot. Needs lots of drive.
Great job figuring out this solo. After listing to Live at Fillmore recently, it stands out as being Betts' best fast solo on the album. I'll be studying your vid for tips. Any chance you can show some of it at a slower speed without backup tracks?
Thanks man. The tricky part is 0:23-0:30. I still don't hit it everytime. If you can get that the rest isn't bad. Let me see if I have the wherewithall to slow it down into an instruction.
i dont hear any problem at .23 to .30---it is spot on,

is it good for other genres like indie and alternative??
dragonboy2992 2 years ago
I don't know. You'd have to put one in your hands and see how it goes with what you already have, if you get the tone you're after.

Nice. The price of a MIM squire!

does an ashtray bridge fit over those?

Not sure. Never seen one on a G&L. But who knows.

Now, that's a rockin' tone! Q: How does the "Bluesboy" ASAT compare to the two-single-coil, in your opinion? Rgds.

Dickey and Duane probably are the most creative guitarists to walk the earth. Excellent work!
