Thank you very much posting. Placido is just fabulous here ! His last Otello... very beautiful.

Though I still prefer the Govent Garden version from 1992 because of Kiri Te Kanawa. They had such a chemistry together and she was more tender and sweet.

it's simply not true that he had a heart attack... he ate too heavily after a stunningly successful opening night, and then fell ill from the rich food. he was back at the following performances later in the run, he just missed half of the second one.

What peculiar staging...I like her "Ave Maria" but this stylized movement is in contrast w/Domingo's naturalism. Not so sure I prefer it. Thanks much for posting, though. Makes for interesting study.
