I think this was added because of an ODST's luck to not get sliced in half in the map-pack movie. His BR was chopped in half, but he was lucky enough to just be knocked back, and picked a Plasma pistol up. I could be wrong though. The short was of the ODST's crashed just on the beach when you pass through the hotel.

Lamest thing ever! It's bad enough you give up range attacks and now the fucker can block you and have his gay teammate kill you. I have to whip out my needle or assault rifle to kill the douche since they back off. I hope 343 does the energy sword justice in Halo 4. For now, it gets raped by shotguns and even gravity hammers since the swing counts as a block.

Besides that the timing required is very precise and many people are off on the timing. Heck I even punched a guy with a sword when his shields were down, which didn't kill him for some reason, then he swung and killed me.

Yeah, I hate campers. "F"ing losers. Kinda like shotgun campers. I finally got the hang of blocking the sword myself after some Invasion haha. I know, that crap happens to me. I'm killing him with a DMR or AR and I need like a few more shots to kill and try to block it. It makes the block sound but I still die since his douche teammate lowered my shield. OMG. I was point blank range with a hammer and hammered this guy in the face it lowered his shield and the sword killed me. >:(
