Yamaha PSR E423 Keyboard presentation

if you use any yamaha as a midi controller (including this one) you have to install the usb midi driver on the disk that comes with it (or get it on the website), turn on pc, plug in/turn on keyboard, after 'new hardware detected' put disk in and select 'install from disk' or select folder if downloaded(remember to unzip the file first!) , then it'll work as a controller, i use mine with reason and it all works flawlessly

CAN THIS BLOODY KEYBOARD BE USED AS A KEYBOARD USB MIDI CONTROLLER LIKE A M-audio oxygen or a Novation Remote SL ??? IF SO , HOW CAN I DO THAT? Connected the usb to the pic-keyboard but no "driver not installed" appeared. Like it isn't even connected !!!

he goes with an autofill in automatical to main b... but i only whould have a drum set from a to a, or b to b

i heard same common problems like for most of the users stating styles from 162 to 174..all are blank..no sound,does your 423 has the same problem

if not why is this so ,am i missing something please explain please sir,

I thinks styles 162 to 174 are reserved for user styles, it seems to be a good solution. My e403 has only one so I have to wait a bit each time I replace it with a new style.

hey pcguy1961, I have one problem and I think you could help me solve it. PSR E-413 is the older keyboard, PSR E-423 is new, has more effects, sounds etc etc than PSR E-413. STILL Even though PSR E-423 is better than E-413 they cost the same (in Poland it's ~1150zł). Is there some hidden defect that lowers it price or is it that 413 is expensive in production? I want to buy one of those 2 Yamaha's, but the price makes me wonder if 423 is realy better than 413 :/ big thx in advance

the 413 is not in production anymore, they give the price cut for that reason, for a little more this one is much better, more storage , more styles etc, I will get this one

423 is better than the 413, more room capacity and more sound, the 413 is an older model not manufactured anymore and obsolete, next year maybe the same thing for the 423...

@aydinliosman09 Uploading sounds to psr e423 is not possible but higher level (and cost) keyboards only have 128 or 256 Mbytes which isn't enough for a good pad like polymoog strings or something like that. Keyboards with more than 1Gbytes are good but very very expensive. You can think MP3 are a solution but they aren't because keyboards would have to uncompress files in realtime and timer would lost too much cycles. Nevertheless, I think the best for your needs is Yamaha DJX.

And yes, PSR-e423, just as its predecessor e413, has it, thus you can play with expression.

they are song you download for free on the internet, just put the name of the song and .midi and the end and you find almost all of them, in midi format (the format made for keyboards), also there is style format but that's another story...

@ABSTRUCTIO for a little more the psr 423 is much better, just for the flash memory, you can keep almost 30 extra midi files on your keyboard vs only 4 on the psr 413, plus the arpeggio is much better and more effects/istr. are available

Hi, Is it possible please to post a video of what happens when you select a split voice with left hand being one of the arpeggios (say voices 234 - 238) and right hand being a standard voice. Being a PSR-E403 owner I hated not being able to play arpeggios with the left hand and a normal melody with the right. Can the E423 do this? Can you play chords with the left hand arpeggio? I wish that Yamaha had put a USB to device on this model as it makes saving your own songs as a midi file much easier.
