i want to be a Registered nurse but i thinking if i will do RN it take a long years you have to spend much money to that course maybe i will tried a surgical tech it look like kinda interesting to see the body organ of human...
I want to get into this, but i'm kinda nervous about the blood and the smells... the thing is, i hear there are a lot of first timers that vomit or get dizzy their first few times. I'm just wondering if there's anybody out there that went into this field not sure if they could handle the blood/smell or even if they did vomit/dizzy/faint and just got used to it after a a while?? Please Reply.
i've been a tech for 10 years and the hardest part is dealing with all these damn doctors who think their shit don't stink,i feel like knocking them out every day
From the Southeast Tech Surgical Technology instructor: Always puts the patient first in every aspect of the surgical procedure. Follow this closely with knowledge of the instrumentation used during the procedure and knowing the sequence/steps of the procedure.
I was considering this job but I really have no idea if I have the stomach for it. I'm fine seeing videos and researching on it but it's different seeing this in person, you know. Also seems pretty depressing.. how can you not let this stuff get to you.
between 25k and 40K, depending on where u live. You can also specialize in a certain type of surgery when u graduate and then u make much more... sometimes 100k.
Hey, thanks alot for the info Wicked...question...do you know what type of surgery you'd want to specialize in to make the 100K? I've heard a figure for Surg. Techs around that high also, but sources I check say more between the 25K to 50K range. P.S. Easy rocks meng!
yes, for a 2 year degree you take the average state salary minus 2 dollars ... for instance, here in PA the average is $17.50 so the starting wage will be around 15 if you're certified. I love this field and i recommend it!
I'm going in for the Surg Tech program at my College...I live in Indiana...the career advisor said starting pay (yearly) is early 30's.....but I know in Indianapolis...you can make 45k a year.
Best thing to do is to contact your local hospital, tell them you have an interest in becoming a Surgical Tech, and then ask if you could "shadow" a Surgical Tech for part of the day. You really need to view an actual surgery to know if you have the stomach for it.
well u are going to have protection for u not to smell the odor that comes from human being...as well as surgeon...im thinking getting into this field as well..but u need to be strong to get into this field as i search a lot already
I started the program this semester and so far I like what I am learning. The difficult topic is the history of surgery. Knowing the names of the surgeons that created the instruments.
im gonna start studying surg tech now not at this school thou vids really help to start knowing what im gona have to see my stomachs feels uneasy but its great cause that way by the time i acutally see it ill have a stronger mind/stomach for it thx for vid =]
You shouldn't let crabby surgeons and nurses discourage you, its like any other job, somebody treats you badly and you stand up for yourself. Some good things to consider: the pay is competitive, you see different things everyday, there are advancement opportunity's, and you have excellent job security.
too bad they dont mention instruments thrown back at you by surgeons or the yelling, just the way surgeons act towards a surg tech. first hand accounts
I've thought about looking into both. I'd rather mess with blood than puke anyday. I accepted your friend invite thank you for doing that I'm new to youtube. I used to have my own business and work 70 to 80 hours a week so I never had much time to spend on the computer. I wish I could give you and pboisei my email address without posting it up here.
actually we have had techs walk out at the busiest time and tell everyone to fuck off, only to come back to work the next day. i guess it all depends on the boss and situation, but definitely dont let them run over you cause they will if they can..also like i said if your a male your alot less likley to get shit from surgeons.
can you please tell me how it is for a surgical tech I'm thinking about going to school for this but I'd end up hurting someone who yelled at me. Thank You

I would like to pursue this career after high school. I heard you get treated badly though. I guess I wouldn't be the only one.

this vid doesn't even really begin to cover what it's always like to be a scrub nurse. it's much more intense.

surg tech's are not nurses. We work under the supervision of RN's and Surgeons. But we make the same as Nurses.

where are the condescending, self righteous circulating nurses? where are the violent surgeons? other than that, this video is almost accurate.
ORnursemurderer 3 years ago
i have seen violent surgeons but many nurses i have worked with are great.

your right i have seen this happen many times, surgeons and anesthesiologist flip out its sooo awesome.
pboisei 3 years ago
i didn't think it so awesome. i thought it was so immature.
blooddudemagic 3 years ago
well i was an orderly, so at the bottom of the food chain it s pretty awesome to see your jerk boss get yelled at by a doc.
pboisei 3 years ago
you mean they flip out on the surg tech????
when somethings my fault....i could take some
heavy heat....but when stuff isn't my fault and someone yells at me....HULK SMASH.
what if a surg tech yells something like....hey!!
stop yelling at us fuck face!! do we then get fired?

and that really makes me mad...
that they would try to intimidate women
in the feild...(any feild)
with temper tantrums and verbal abuse...
thanks for the insight...

can you please tell me how it is for a surgical tech I'm thinking about going to school for this but I'd end up hurting someone who yelled at me. Thank You
kaley3646 3 years ago
alot of memory is good, and smell tolerance...
burnt flesh,body fluids,poop,pee,puss,blood,
i guess not all surgeons yell and throw fits...
i can't wait to begin courses...
cheers!! and goodluck.
:o)
00MORDRED 3 years ago
Are you still doing surg tech? I was thinking about going to school for it but I'd hate to put up with a jerk surgeon. Thank You
kaley3646 3 years ago
I agree it probably would be awesome to see docs and nurses flip out as long as we get to flip back at them?
kaley3646 3 years ago
there isn't always timeto flip out on the rest of the team. it's not professional and the patient is the firstpriority.
