..well mickdoo... u are right about how good these guys are together.....and... i like Dream Theater and HATE Geddy Lees voice// :P that said Pete L is truly a gifted player..and they frankly were killed in the frenzy that followed the various Seatle heroin addicts who also happened to be in bands..ouch:P...i would like to see these guys record again!
Harem Scarem was the BEST in their genre. It's a shame they broke up. Now Pete Lesperance is doing a cheesy, bland acoustic/electric singer-songwriter "thing" that frankly sucks.... bad! His strength is crunchy big guitars, not acoustic crap. His voice isn't compelling enough to carry it.
Hopefully these guys come to their senses and get back to Harem Scarem greatness. Great bands stay together......look at Rush, Dream Theater, etc.....pigeon holed or not, great music is great music.
Extreme meets Def Leppard. Great Melodic Hard Rock. Even their modern sounding stuff and their time as the Third Eye Blind-esque Rubber was awesome. Always changed their sound up a bit and executed perfectly. Phenomenal bad!
Who cares what group it is! They are all Great. If only some groups today would match the same carisma and talent. I heard this group on a canadian radio station when I used to live in Buffalo. What a band. Hey guys you were good and still are #1.
Are yoou guys IGNORANT? RUSH is teh best Band to ever grace the Lands of Canada....Harem Scarem is a good band but not even close to RUSH...Good Lord- Screw your head in straight! JEEEZE!
I thought the requirement to be a singer was that you had to have the "it" factor and be hot......musical ability or passion has nothing to do with it I was told.
The Best Band to EVER come out of Canada. I wish they got more air play in this Country, because these guys rock like nobody else can and Harry has the coolest voice I have ever heard.
Pete Lesperance is a Van Halenish, Steve Vaish, Nuno Bettencourtish type of guitarist, very melodic. he uses a lot of major scale and pentatonic scales down the fretboard.. he also had an awesome voice and sings well..can't wait for him to record an instrumental album.. if only Vito Bratta would comeback to White Lion, another melodic van halenish type of guitarist that would be one hell of rockshow. . Harem Scarem is all about big heavy guitar riffs over melodic husky voices. Great Band
What an AWESOME song... from an awesome band! these canadians really know how to rock it out... would love to see them with Kick AXE or Honeymoon Suite! ... even Helix... so much great rock from the North! ... Love the comments too! ... 80's METAL!!!!
its annoying why this band is not bigger than it is.............. ITS ONLY BECAUSE THERE CANADIAN...........IF THEY WERE AMERICAN THEY WOULD BE MUCH BIGGER THAN THEY WERE
Haha awesome that this video is on youtube. I kid you not, I'm the kid rolling in the tire with the rat tail in the junkyard. Got paid 30 bucks to be in this video. I was 9 years old. My moms friend peter directed it. Hes the guy diving into lake Ontario there.
I wish we could see more of these unbelievable musicians again..best song writing, amazing guitar sound that would tear through you like a razor...LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yup great indeed..no one better out there right now... theres not much..Shinedown..a few others...this song truly has a message as well..listen to it....have talked with Pete Lesperance...the writer /guitar player for these guys...a brilliant and humble dude ..check out these guys more..and check out Petes website
Their biggest downfall, is they are canadian. The world doesn't give a crap about us snow bunnies. I agree, they should have had the same fame, they rock hard with phenomenal vocals, guitars and lyrics
well i heard of this guys because of much retro and i thought this solo was the coolest thing ever and i looked them up and they should be more well known. just cuz they r canadian wtf that is unfair.
They actually were in existence back then... just missed the height of popularity of their genre... Their first album was released in 1991... but still one of the best bands to ever exist, and my absolute favourite.
You know what really sucks? I had never even heard of this Killer band until a week ago. The lead guitarist plays Caparison guitars and SHREDS! Damn what a cool band.
A great song. Powerful. I don't know a lot about this band. Are they like Styper? A Christian rock band? I am not planning on converting, do like the song though.
They have actually officially broken up as a band as of June, I think... but if you collected enough money to hold a concert there, I'd fly over... ;)
What a hard rockin tune mixed with incredibley nice vocal work from Harry Hess. Incredible guitar work from Pete Lesperance. These guys should have been as big as their Harry's Hair
to all the people who think they are attacking christians with the line "like religion wasting our lives on a worthless cause" they're not, and its just a song, some of you christians take songs to literally
Hmmm, well about the religion part... I hope it hits on unnecessary customs done in some religions... It's all up to your faith. :D and yeah, thank GOD for letting us enjoy great music in life!
About that religeon part in the song, let it go, like most music in the 80's early 90's, people didn't read to deep into the lyrics. Awsome band, great song,too bad radio stations don't tell impressionable youth this is cool music!
Hmmm... I'm afraid that wasn't a slam to Christians, but a wake up call to people who use their religion to hurt others. You might want to revisit the REST of the lyrics, there, Tipper.
@mattmurd0ck: German people (I don't know why...) rather stick to their pop music heroes with their shit music. That's a shame...And nobody here knows this great band!! Pete Lesperance and Harry Hess are a dreamteam, just like Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. You can see, that there is deep friendship and honest music and that's what I love about these bands. Musically, Harem Scarem are even better I think. Especially if you think about how the sound of Bon Jovi has changed...
The guitar work is awesome - amazing solo . I remember these guys in the mid 80's when they were called ' Blind Vengeance', and played the Gasworks and Larry's Hideaway in the Toronto club scene. Pete's guitaring is stellar, perfectly articulated. Two thumbs up boys, a fan from way back.

Great production and awesome tune(love this band, thx for posting) but the solo drives me nuts, its soooo un-original
@2:25 sounds like Vai
@2:37 sounds like Satch
and @ 2:47 sounds like Nuno/Extreme
Am i wrong?
Sorry, just my opinion, i understand it was the era they were slaves to. All my respect to Pete as a musician & producer!

I like Harem Scarem but I HATE the slam to Christians in the lyrics on this song. " It's like religion,wasting your life on a worthless cause"
There's alot of problems with organized religion but the hard core secular left and the ACLU are out to destory what the USA stands for.
