That was a great gift of my life to know Mary, who had birthday of teh same day then me. I was in this concert and you can hear "THANK YOU? JOHN!" at 5.03 That was Peter Mary's loving husband! You can not see ,but a lot of people cried there, like me!
The night he found out that Danny Gatton had died that melody came to him in the flood of his emotions ... so he dedicated the song to his friend in the best way he knew how; the title.
I think the name of the tune is ........" Melencoly Serenade" {the theme of "The Honeymooners", written by the "Great one" Jackie Gleason. ...,But of course,If I were on the "64 thousand dollar question"tv show,I would probably say "Swanee River",by the great Ed Norton ! .....as a matter of fact,I think I kinda' remember that being one of the songs played for Ralph on that episode...'Oh Yeah ,Danny does that on one of his studio records..,either Crusin'Duces,or Elmira St.....I think
Hahaha.... emo kid. I'm 43 years old, and I am a pretty good guitar player myself. I've never heard one single My Chemical Romance song in my life, ever.
I was there for this very performance-it was an amazing hot night in Samois-I proposed to my wife later over a bottle of Rose in the grounds of the Chateau in Fountainbleu..
A monster for sure! Never the fan of country music...I for some reason caught on to The Desert Rose Band in the 80's and probably because of the guitar work and John's sideburns. ; )
i just saw him live last night he amazing!!

I've been playing guitar or, rather, stringed instruments for almost all of my 44 years.
There could be no greater, no more heartfelt or tender playing than this in the memory of that man.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
sounds like "In memory of Django" John... Why mention Danny if you are going to play like that? no relation at all.

The tune was written by John. It is called "In Memory of Danny Gatton" off his album entitled "Franco-American Swing".

"THAT'S Swanee River?"

He dedicates it to Danny Gatton but it sounds much more like Django Reinhardt...curious!

Listen more closely; you will hear the choice of notes and certain techniques that are very Gattonesque.
Ever heard Danny's version of Sleepwalk?
