hey man I have that Kurt Cobain fender mustang it's a lovely guitar I just want to let you know both of the pots in the guitar are 250K so you'll have to change the volume to 500K to get any satisfaction with it I've noticed it sounding muddy, there's no way Kurt would have preferred the JB if his actually had 2 250K pots in it

@BrewersArcade I got the sonic blue color, I have the Seymour Duncan JB in my Les Paul it has a 500K volume pot, it's louder and has more of a punch to the sound, so when I got this mustang I was thinking why was the output lower than my Les Paul and not as punchy so the obvious thought was one of the pots needed changing, only have one pot changed to 500K otherwise the guitar will have to much of a treble sound

@BrewersArcade by the way this guitar is lighter than my 65 reissue mustang and has the best resonance I've had on a guitar and is the lightest guitar I've had

@BrewersArcade hey man I just want to let you know that there's a Kurt Cobain fender mustang that's just came out I'm not sure if it's in the shops right now but it's the same price as the 65 reissue mustangs are around its 765 pound here, it has the Seymour Duncan JB pickup and a pick of colors including the sonic blue with the red tortoise shell scratch plate and the lake placid blue one, I don't know about you but I'm buying it and selling my 65 reissue

@BrewersArcade your welcome man, well you know what you can do with your reissue mustang you could always put some single coils in it after you get the Kurt Cobain mustang and you have two purposes for each mustang, I'm gonna get a push pull pot for the Kurt Cobain signature mustang so I have the best of both in that guitar, I'll probably have that guitar soon enough but if I don't I'll keep checking your vids out

Hey, I was wondering if this guitar is also pretty decent for playing some 'softer' rock and bluesy stuff such as John mayer and such. I do not have much money to spend and will only be able to buy one guitar for a loooooooong time I need an allround guitar. Ofcourse being lefthanded I am very limited, I could pick up a standard stratocaster but I have small hands so I would prefer the smaller size of the jaguar..

@BrewersArcade i got the guitar right after Kurt died my mom an I sent a letter saying i lost my grandpa that same week so one day Craig Montgomery her an Nirvanas old manager called me up an said one of his guitars will be coming whats your address I was shocked.But then it came with a unreleased nirvana CD an her new CD pretty on the in side.His hand writing was on the side on sticker he named SKYTANG3,So i got to meet her an Frances an Hole.That was cool of her.(read next msg)

what shade of blue color on this mustang? it's beautiful.. i own the '69 japanese reissue in sonic blue color, but it looks much lighter than yours. anyway, good review.

I have the same year guitar and also got mine in its hay day. People then told me I got ripped off and paid too much which for the time I did but ha ha. Jokes on them now. I did modify it (a lot) I changed my tuner to AMS fender standards because I loved how they looked on the big apple start I couldn't afford at the time. Many pick ups later I settled on a seymour duncan screaming demon in the bridge and a 57/62 strat pickup in the neck. I use it for a lot of solos as it is a ripper now. The s

i love your gee-tar videos! but i have one question. i myself am a huge nirvana fan and have alot of other 90s alternative rock inspiration. i really want a 69 reissue mustang exactly like you've got. but i dont want to be a so called kurt cobain "kiss ass" or "wanna be". do you have any inspirational words that would change my mind over this conflict i have?...by the way i have played a mustang, and all i can say is a i loved it more than any other guitar...its definately the short scale neck.

you lucky guy a Christmas present wow is the pickup in the bridge a Seymour Duncan hot rails I have a JB jr and it doesn't compare to the full size humbucker I find it's a bit to trebly so you have to adjust your bass on your amp and I'm not happy with the output compared to the full size model I'm enjoying your interviews man

@wipers86 Hey thanks man! Yea the single coil humbuckers just don't have the same bite but I def think your JB Jr. has more output than my hot rails. My main gigging guitar is a Gibson SG faded...I'll be reviewing that guitar as well in the near future. Thanks for the support!

@BrewersArcade yeah I was thinking of swapping to that pickup so thank you for making me think otherwise I used to have a Gibson Les Paul Classic tobacco burst with the flame top but the neck kept going out in the end with it being very slim it was from the 90's a chambered model like slashes one but better in my opinion for the chambered body I wish I had kept it because it was a lovely guitar

This mustang is made in Japan. Not sure if you can still aquire a lefty version though.

@GrungeyMr If they feel stuck try putting a hand towel over the knob and using a pair of pliers...just pull straight up. You can also use a butter knife and stick it under the knob to try and get it loose. Just carefully pry upward. They should pop off if you pull straight up!
