I was there when this video was made. A friend was a member of his fan club who were all invited, along with a friend to Shepperton studios where they played this track about 20 times, until they came up with the version they wanted to release as a video. Takes me back.
I saw Dramatis in `82, a really good night. I managed to play Are Friends Electric on their Pro.5 synth on stage before the roadies took it off me and then went back stage and ate and drank all their food and drink. A great bunch of blokes a lot more entertaining than Numan ever was. I thought their album For Future Reference deserved better but that's my opinion. Its a shame they're still not around. They're a damn site better group of musicians than the toss Numans got now.
@dramatis3 I agree with all you said........i also saw Dramatis in 1982, it was at the Venue in London somewhere, might have been in Victoria....but anyway great band and brilliant album and MOST DEFINATLY a million times better than the shite he has as his band now.
Dramatis - For Future Reference was the orig title of
the LP, this song is the only one Gary sings and frankly, the only one that's any good. Dramatis is a GREAT group of musicians IF Gary writes and sings the songs. Without him, they are merely faceless new wave.
I have the Dramatis album too and i saw Dramatis play at the Reading Hexagon and as my mate was working there at the time we went back stage to meet the guys and Rrussell Bell nicked my damn pen he used to autograph the album dammit! mind you Ced Sharpley most of the time carried a bottle of run in his breif case and was a chain smoker like i was - great times fondly remembered
the album was also released on cd. called "tubeway army featuring gary numan - the dramatis project". a bit of an odd title but the band dramatis is actually tubeway army minus GN!
Numan's finest hour in my opinion. I remember having trouble tracking this song down because I searched all of Numan's album never knowing it was under Dramatis until years after hearing it on KROQ back in '83!
Good song. Video looks at little grainy now - good old film.

My auntie Veronica's in the front row. She was very excited seeing herself in a video on the internet with her clothes on.
