  • Thanks, Vid....My mamere (grandmother) made these for me when I was little. I knew it wasn't too complicated and it was such a thrill to see a doll with such a beautiful dress come from a holllyhock.. I will now be able to hand it down....

  • this reminds me of the times when my mom told me that her mom used to make dolls out of the string like things you find in corn.

  • Thanks for sharing!! Love this! I put a link to this video on my blog!

  • how wonderful!! my daughter & I are going to try this! we like it

  • OMG!!! We used to make these years ago. I taught my daughter about them. Now I want to get some hollyhocks! thanks

  • Gee I thought I was the only one who remembered making hollyhock dolls when I was a little girl! LOL I just love hollyhocks!!

  • Thank you! My grandma used to make these with my sister and I. She has terminal cancer. Wanted so badly for her to make these with my girls. She was having a hard time remembering how to make them. My girls will get a chance to make them now.

  • wtf

  • @ferni1023 What, too technical for you?

  • cute

  • Thanks for the vid, it reminds me of the dolls my mom used to make for me as a kid. I lost mom a year ago. Thanks for the memory.

  • Quite welcome. :D

  • what a great idea

  • That was great. Whenever my daughter and I see a hollyhock stalk we steal a couple flowers and buds and make hollyhock dolls. We remove the green part from the bud though -- then the stem from the flower part can be inserted into one of the holes of the white part of the bud. You'll know what I mean when you peel the green sepal away.

  • wow thats pretty cool :)

  • Very cool...

  • Wow that was a heck of a lot more cuter than what we did as kids... Gathered moose poo, pretended we had a grocery store and sold the moose poo as eggs. Luckily I don't remember what we used for milk.

  • That is a cute little trick. :)

  • That was soo cool-never seen anything like that!!-Jamie

  • That was very cute - did you paint faces on them at all - or didn't need to?

  • oh that was so cute

  • HA! Cool. I love the things we used to do as kids. So imaginative and inventive. Now they have computers and Nintendos. They are cute :)

  • Those ARE cute.

And I totally started to lol as you cracked up.

    :-D

  • OMG! My grandma used to do that with me! So cute!

  • Aw, that's cute!! A pretty purple dress :)

  • Fun on the farm! :)

  • That's what she said!

  • thats to cute!

  • Cool!

  • That reminds me of when I was a kid in Coconut Grove and people would weave palm fronds into things and sell them. I bought a bird once, although the hats were the most popular.

  • That is so cool!! Have to do this with the grand daughters!! Thanks, Grams

  • LOL thats kinda awesomness in the highest form!

  • Very cute :0)

  • mARIA, How you dorin'?

  • cURT, I am peachy. How you dorin'?

  • Aside from hating all the stupid housework I currently have to do, I'm good.

That anakin character keeps sending me video clips of himself being totally foul mouthed though. That ginger is whack, yo!

  • Oh gawd cURT!! You want some help? Seriously. Anything I can do for ya??..

Badakin is growing increasingly troublesome. People are deceived by that innocent looking face. We know better....!! Crack is whack!

  • for the love... i thought that read homework... omg.. NO I am NOT helping you with housework.. LMAO

  • Don't be a housework h8er!

    ;-P

  • There is an Italian saying that says a messy house invites company. It scares the crap outta me if someone would come over with the house was a mess... BUT.... cleaning is not my fav thing to do.. BLAH

  • Thats so cute!

  • how cool is that?!? I've never seen such.

  • wow, that was cool! hmmm. i see a sudden loss of hollyhocks in my neighbbors future

    *runs away*

  • I can see it. They still looks like a body snatcher pod in drag. I was waiting to see the bud open and go after one of your fingers.

Excellent camera work Cam man. :)

  • Your hollyhocks are beautiful! When you were a kid did you come up with the idea for the dolls, or did someone show you? It is really cute.

  • Cool!

  • I second that motion!

  • OMG that is so cute! I never knew what a Hollyhock was..see u learn something new everyday!

  • That was very cool! I've never seen a hollyhock before.

    Sandi

  • That is so neat! They look like little ballerinas.:) Reminds me of my grandma. She had a wild rosebush (roses were tiny) that grew on the side of her garage. My sister and I would pull off the tiny petals, lick them, and stick them to our nails and it looked like we had long pink finger nails. I love hollyhocks and all their pretty colors.
