I used to like them, and then sadly I was made aware of their Nazi affinity and naively finally connect their lyrics (Klaus Barbi) to the intent. To me anyone who thinks that killing children in death camps is an inspiration, a fashion statement, being "hard core", or simply holding an “opinion”, whatever, is weak, disconnected from enlightenment, downright mean and chillingly cynical. I took my DIJ LPs and put them in the trash where they belong.
@MrBigTAB u missed the part where he said he was GAY and made friends with a black convict in tx .The nazi shit is all imagery and for artistic purpose
@MrBigTAB Maybe it's not an inspiration, fashion statement, being hardcore, or holding an opinion - but rather confronting how absurdly violent and delusional humans can be, particularly when motivated by ideology, in a poetic medium. The ironic thing is that the Nazis themselves would have agreed you with - if Douglas P. had been alive in that era and making similar music, he would have been persecuted as a "degenerate artist" with the very same statements used as justification.
art is a tricky bitch isn't it.
calm down...
