@Broadwayidol91 I'd be interested to see them interviewed. It would be valuable for other parents of LGBTs to see it too, so that they could know the consequences of intolerance before it's too late.
EricJames Borges is in Hell. he flipped off God by posting a pro glbt, pro sodomy vidoe and Godsmacked him with a delusion and drop-kicked him into the lake of fire, where the worm never dies and the fire is never quenched. he is gnawing his tongue in pain and if he could he woudl come back and warn you not to come where he is.
When I was around your age Stonewall happened. Until then it was as if it was like being in a secret society where gay bars were out of sight and their location was known through word of mouth only. I was very hard to come out. Even today there are still many older closeted gays. Society is slowly becoming more tolerant.
What a wonderful video. Good for you. So much has changed. No, not enough, but it's coming along and you list a lot of reasons one can see to give hope. I'm seeing anti bullying messages in mainstream tv programs now. Hopefully there will be more resources for parents soon too. A lot of people may have no clue how to go about accepting their child but if they saw psa's and even sitcoms showing them that it's okay, that loving them is the best response, perhaps that will help too. Well done Jim!!
@thizizliz Thanks, my dear :) I'm glad the mainstream media is educating people about this issue. I agree that sitcoms have the ability to make a huge difference in public opinion. People are always more afraid of things that are unfamiliar. Seeing LGBTs in the media, even if only in sitcoms, makes them more familiar, and therefore more accepted.
@Jimplicit Oh wow - it won't let me delete the duplicates; please feel free to do so. Yes, I think tv is a big start - and it tells you how many people are already accepting or it wouldn't be shown, you know? Awesome; the time has come!
@Jimplicit Glbt is an abomination. teaching kids that its a good thing to mutilate your genitals, jet pumped with hormones and masquerade like a freak as the opposite sex. God judged EricJames Borges and dropkicked him into hell where you all belong for promoting this sick evil filth.
I am old enough to remember that there really no openly-gay figures. No one was really 'out.' People were rumored to be gay more than anything else. Teen suicide was very rare or you never heard about it. Many times when someone showed homosexual tendencies they were committed to mental hospitals or insane asylums. You had bullying, sure, but it was out on the playground. (Of course back then no one even knew what a computer was.)
@westsideed I can hardly imagine how terrible it must have been to try to come to terms with one's sexuality during such a time. I wonder why teen suicide has become so much more common these days.
@Jimplicit guilt and shame and death are the direct consequences of proud defiant sin. God does not change ,sin is sin and laways will be. the more you promote and encourage this sick perverted filth called GLBT the more you kindle Gods wrath - the more will die.
@westsideed You got it , the more you promote flaunting open proud defiant sin the more God picks you off and sends you to HELL. God will not tolerate ''gay'' marrage and will nto tolerate glbt filth . the destroyer of Sodom is not dead.
so sad. i agree. sometimes being disowned by your parents shouldnt be the deciding factor to harm yourself. parents need to seek help if they are not sure how to act or react. its sad that this guy was going thru so much especially at home. they need to start punishing the parents not only for ignorance, but for child abuse. i hope kids out there here yours and everyone elses message and seek help or guidance before harming themselves. things are getting better indeed! houston's mayor is gay!
@greatesTXever I had no idea that Houston's mayor is gay! So exciting! I'm amazed that such a thing would happen in TX. Perhaps the speed of progress is finally picking up :)
Great vid. I have to agree that I believe it would be better if some would get out of the house. The problem is making sure they have a place to go. I hate telling them to leave but there was just no reason for his parents to react like they did, He definately had people that loved him, they just weren't close enough for him to run too.
@jwo92911 I agree, there need to be more places for them to go if they have to leave home. It's one of those situations in which they're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
There is hope, hope is everywhere, you just need to know where to look and it will follow you around everywhere you go :)
not forgeting Lady Gaga's appeal for the repeal of the DADT law, remember people are on your side and are willing to fight for your rights wether they to are gay or not :)
Argh not another one :( , and only 2 years younger than me. I wish young LGBT people would just wait a couple years to move out and make their own lives before coming out. I'm not out myself, because I want to wait for this just in case I have any problems at home with it (and compared to a lot of American families, I doubt I have anything to worry about). It's hard but it would be worth it for those who would be in such situations, and it would keep them alive!
@Fr4yTheStrings I cry every time I read about another gay suicide. It really breaks my heart. I too wish they would be patient and hang on until they are out of the house and independent. but it's so unfair that they should have to hide who they are for so long. Kudos to you for hanging on, buddy. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and a well thought out plan.
@Jimplicit It sucks so hard. It's like they are so so so close to getting out and creating an awesome life for themselves, but are falling at the final hurdle. And that makes it even more clear when this happens, of just how much of a hell they must be going through at home :(. I wonder when people are going to start being real parents to their children.
I relly feelz bad for Eric... Like WooW Exorcism. We're all bound to love our parents no matter what(deep down), and the people he loved gave him so much pain that he couldn't bare anymore :( how f'up is that?? I agree with the positive progress the world is slowly marching through the right direction!! Global Human rights and equality will free us all then maybe humanity focus more on protecting the earth... Make an ideal world!! LoL I think I'm being delusional o.O
Better isn't good enough. It seems like yesterday I marched in the first gay pride march in NYC. It's been over 40 years. The time is long overdue. Kids shouldn't even think about suicide, let alone do it. 40 fucking years is TOO MUCH. Just my opinion. THanks for the video Jim.
@cjay2 I agree. It is ridiculous and shameful that progress is moving so incredibly slowly. I wish I could reach out to each of those poor kids and give them hope. Kudos to you for being involved in the movement for such a long time! You are a pioneer, and should be so proud!
It is getting better, but it should already be a lot better than it is. I'll say it again....you can't call yourself a parent if you don't love and accept your kids unconditionally.
@HotMissa I agree with you 100%. I am very disheartened by the glacial pace of progress so far. But I have to remain optimistic, and I have to send an optimistic message to today's youth, so they will have something to live for. :/
Yeah, I just went and saw J. Edgar and it implied that he was gay and when he was attempting to "come out" to his mother, she said, "I'd much rather have a dead son than a 'daffodil' son." 'Daffodil" implying gay, of course. Great message, Jim!
@OneAndOnlyBillyJ Thank you, buddy. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read a very interesting biography written by someone who worked closely with him in the FBI, and there was a lot in there about his sexuality and how he attempted to cover it up. So interesting.
before I even came out, my father told me that he would disown me if I ever told him I was gay. This kept me in the closet for YEARS! I never felt safe to come out, even when I finally did it was the most stressful and scary experience. My father came to accept me, but he still has a hard time understanding. You hit the nail on the head with this video. thank you Jim! eye heart u
@bulldawg570 Thanks buddy! I heart you too!! I'm sorry you had such a tough time with your father. Mine threw a lot of fear into me too. I can at least take some comfort in the fact that he never attempted to perform an exorcism on me (or maybe he did, but I've been able to repress the memory).
@Jimplicit - let's hope he never did and exorcism. that would be a terrible thing to relive. I know it's not quite an exorcism, but when I moved to Europe my father told me to visit Our Lady of Lourdes, or was it Fatima. I don't remember which one he told me to visit, but apparently there's a magic swimming pool that cures sick people...and my father told me to take a dip, that maybe it would cure the gay. I told him, knowing my luck I would come out of the pool as a straight woman. LOL-
Heartbreaking. As I said on HotMissa's video they don't deserve to be called his parents. Dare I say it, they should be strung up for torturing this poor kid to his death. My opinion.
@Fightdog Harsh words, Bob, but I don't disagree. It's hard to feel anything but disdain for people who would destroy their own son's emotional well being.
Its so sad! D: i hate hearing about all these suicides out there! ive been getting bullied recently in the past few weeks especially bad, and i know home is where i can wind down and forget about it :] i dont know what i would do without my parents! R.I.P
@RegularRuss I hate that you're being bullied. I wish I could have a few words with those sons of bitches and see to it that they leave you alone from now on. I'm so glad your parents are supportive of you :D

@veganmadi Yeah, progress happens far too slowly, and there are so many people working to reverse the little progress we've made. It's a shame. I'm glad your parents are willing to have an open dialogue with you.
hope his parents are proud of themselves..:( poor kid.
