  • Good Ol' Grateful Dead!!!!!!!

  • Joy To The World.....

  • officially the best use of youtube

  • 1972 was the best year for the Dead, I mean EUROPE 72 is just brilliant.

  • @taariqtaariq Oh I love me some Europe '72, was PigPen at his finest, but the Brent years are pretty good to. I often wondered what the dead would have sounded like if we never lost Pigpen. They would have a lot more blues in there music that for sure

  • God Bless the Grateful Dead

  • hahaha one village idiot

  • Whoa looks like these guys pupils are huge, not really sure what going on there.

  • @ultragalaxydeath really???? Its the grateful dead...... i dont know... maybe LSD

  • @ultragalaxydeath ....Obviously cocaine....They were way into it early on

  • Blijft geweldig. Kijk ook naar : Wende Snijders. Jerry RIP!

    Duco

  • Nice!

  • ♥Pigpen♥ RIP LOVE

    Alwaze

  • Fuckin' sweet!

  • Kreutzmann is the man :-)

  • I love the Piano in this song

  • Beat Club 1978 sounds about right. That is Keith Godchaux on piano. Pig Pen was gone.

  • @gamoonbat

This was recorded April 21, 1972.

  • @hiway61rvsted - Right. I saw Pig Pen after I wrote this. Classic Dead from Europe in 1972.

  • awsome I understand, that nobody dislike this

  • Oh those were the days when you could go to the city & catch the best bands every weekend.

  • pig pen was dying kinda sad he missed the big run

  • mmmm soo groovy ;)

  • Bob's got a good head on his shoulders to remember all those lyrics

  • i guess realized if the singer had a southern accent they would sound just like Skynyrd..

  • This was the year, love anything from '72, they were on for this tour. Wish I would have seen them then. I was only 1 so don't know if it would've had the same effect

  • Fantastic clip from the awesome Beat Club archives. Thanks for posting !

  • I always thought Jerry sang this song.

  • get prepared.there's gonna be a party tonite! yeah! great rockin tune!

  • This song is actually from Bob Weirs solo album.

  • @bamdude3 YEA, but its known and recorded first from europe 72' then bobby put it on a solo album (and the musicians ARE the dead!)...like garcia's solos albume GARCIA... songs already well known..i think they just didnt want to put them out as 'grateful dead' albums due to music contract restrictions..... i do love bobbys solo version of BTW (black throated wind) from the solo album...which actually is the dead playing just as well!!! cheers!!

  • Only the Grateful Dead can get 100% positive comments on Youtube. Great Band.

  • The walk up at 3:28 still gives me chills after all these years. Nothing like it in a big crowd of like-minded Dead Heads high on the Band.

  • Bob sings greaaaat

  • Be kind of cool, if Pig Pen would have sang it.

  • One of the greatest rock and roll songs in history.

  • straight up muthafuckin rock 'n' roll baby!!!!!

  • i think that's the strat that Gram Nash gave him

  • Thank you appletecfan.. this is the Highwater Mark for sure,, and Ratdog doing Garcia songs is allmost as Bad as Phil Croaking out a sugaree..

  • bobby was so cute here. :3

  • is that a stratocaster

  • yeeeeee

  • Yes it is.

I love Jerry on the strat. '72 was THE year folks!

  • i remember dancing and spinning to this, it was one of the best ways to end a show

  • I slap myself every day for never going to see the Dead. Damn I F'd up.

  • i'd say man

  • Yes you did but I assume you've seen Ratdog. Bobby sings lots of Garcia songs as well as his own.

  • I'd give up everything, for just one more Saturday night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow!! what happened to those good times.

  • This is the tightest they ever were. Kind of their peak, in a way, although there were lots of good years ahead.

  • Jerry is playing his Alligator Strat before he put the alligator sticker on it! And, PIG and KEITH are there rocking! Great view back into time! CHEERS!

  • "and god way up in heaven, for whatever it was worth, thought he'd have a big ol' party, thought he'd call it planet earth" thts true genius right there

  • Comment removed

  • OMG bob's pretty! Where's Micky?

  • Mickey's dad stole money form the band and he was so ashamed that he left until Blues for Allah. That's what He's Gone was originally written about.

  • well you should get into them because they were one of the best bands like beatles stones who kinks zeppelin hendrix cream floyd yes crimson elp doors genesis beach boys dusty/olivia/kate cohen dylan young csn ZAPPA ELVIS and many many more and the only reason why and with my lonely boring life I haven't committed suicide

  • Thanks for the great vid! But the lyrics need some help... he is singing : " HEY another Saturday night", not "Realed another Saturday... etc.

  • never saw the big deal about this band

  • you have my total sympathy

  • I didn't mean to offend, but I just never got into them, that's all.

  • They're the greatest jam band of all history

  • The first Saturday Night was played on 10/19/1971 in Minneapolis.

  • @cablepanos ...on a TUESDAY!

  • No way on earth this is 67. C'mon, Mickey left the bad for a bit in 71, thats why he is not there. No question this is '72. Great great great...never seen this before

  • LSD for the win.

  • there's a skeleton from the closet!

  • i love the dead in '72

  • probably at their musically tightest ever was between 1971-1972. this video proves it.

  • My favorite Grateful Dead song. My God, 1972 was the year I was born...

  • just gr8

  • wow i never thought i would see keith and pigpen on the same stage

  • why I wan't a fender stratocaster

  • WOW! This is a piece of pure joy (and history)! First, you can hear Bobby's vocals and guitar. Second, Pigpen and Keith are on the same stage (I thought Pig was gone long before Keith entered the scene). Third, where is Donna?

  • this had to have been like January or February of 72 if keith and pig are there thats nuts!

  • I love it when they tighten up around Bill to strike another array of notes.

  • grate to see this video back on. love it!

  • Long live the Grateful Dead! RIP Jerry!

  • this is a great video! Thanks for putting this up. Love the amazing Grateful Dead!!!!
