  • So calming.

  • wow. Love the background of this. Song is ........ Gotta love it.

  • Really this is a battle theme? It´s beatiful and so sad...

PS: I never played before a Xenosaga game

  • I´m not have a soul if I don´t played this game yet.

  • Wait a second... it's Shion right...why am I doubting that that is Yeshua...?

  • does anyone knows the lenguage of the lyrics??...

  • @Chox100

    italian

  • @killy00 oooh...ok...thank you so much...

  • @Chox100 Actually, that's a custom language Kajiura created, so that the phonetic be perfect in her songs.

That language is a mix of Latin, Japanese and Italian if I remember well.

  • @AmoureuxdeKOSMOS hey..thanks...that makes more sense..

has you said, i only were able to recognize a few words in Italian, but i didnt knew about all that mix of lenguages...pretty amazing though...

so..i guess is kinda imposible to hard to translate her songs or something?? :p

  • @AjiraCtelin1993 lol i dont know but i think this song is not focused on the battles bombing, blood, and the carnage... the point of this peaceful battle theme is revolving around the sadness of the people dying.. how peaceful they feel as their spirits ascent into the death realm, escaping life, living in pain, hiding from death.. maybe they're embracing death thinking that life's finally over... but one thing i know for sure is, this is one'a the best battle song i've ever heard :D

  • First off, HOW CAN THEY MAKE SOMETHING THIS CALM A BATTLE THEME AT ALL!?

  • @AjiraCtelin1993 It's really not one of the battle themes, but it is a character theme.

And don't be hatin', 'cause this is probably one of the best themes I've heard in a game.

  • @MIRApoid Then why is it a battle theme? It's not a battle theme sounding piece.

  • @AjiraCtelin1993 it's a battle theme because it plays during a BATTLE. not all battle themes need to sound hectic and intense. this piece was gentle, calm and spiritual for a reason. i don't wanna give spoilers. i suggest playing the game yourself.

  • @saginging I actually don't mind spoilers.

  • does anyone know the language this is sung in?

  • @missNewVegas Japanese, by Eri Itoh Japanese voice actor.

  • @OmNiVidGG um... from what I can tell, its not in Japanese... sounds more like Latin...

  • @Elc22 Well it might sound latin.. but it is japanese XP... I can tell by Eri's voice D: (Fan btw).

  • @OmNiVidGG It's Kajiuran actually. All Kajiura-sensei's songs have it. XD

  • @Elc22 The vast majority of the words sound mostly Japanese to me. A few sound more Italian and it is sung with the overall accent used in Italian songs. From the perspective of someone who is familiar with both languages though, there are far too many T sounds and not enough M sounds for it to be Italian. The words with T sounds on them are very distinctive of Japanese. I actually recognize a few of them as legitimate Japanese. So more or less it is Japanese with a heavy Italian accent.

  • wait... isn't KOS-MOS and T-elos the will and body of mary magdalene... this game is kinda creepy in a sense of its religious symbolism... but that what's make it great!!!

  • @scorpioninpink I think thet anyone that's here already played the whole series but you gave a HUGE spoiler there. XD

  • This was an excellent boss battle, the music is so invigorating. Makes me sad that they had to end the series :(

  • 24?! This should be 1!!! Not that dragon thing.

  • Where is this tune being played?can anyone tell me?

  • Comment removed

  • @Fook1991 it's when you fight Telos the 2nd time near the end of the game

  • Years passed since I was a kid and have moved, a few days ago I looked in my basement and found a Box inside the box was a smaller box with the words"Take care" written on it. I opened it and found Xenosaga I, II, and III and their respective strategy guides. I freaked out I was sure I had lost them and was so happy. These games remain my favorite RPG's

  • i love how number 2 was only released here. and it bombed? i wonder why?

  • love love Kosmos. you'll always be in my heart <3

  • Yes I found IT!!!! XD

  • This song is similiar to the one that was played when Yuna fought against the Aeons :'( It simply makes me wanna cry...

  • this theme makes me want to cry

  • Chick robots going at it. F*** yes!

  • For people who dont know about this song, play the damn game and you will see why this is an EPIC battle!!

    -X-

  • @xman9669 SO EPIC

  • This is battle music? Huh. Interesting.

  • @blargityish Me too! Yup I finished 1 and 2 and i hope they make a 4th one at least try to lol. 1 was alright it had the same damn song everytime lol. and 2 had good music but characters looked so freaking weird lol

  • @blargityish ohhh gotcha okay okay i'll stop. yeah i got to this point in the game, and you?

  • @blargityish mind your own damn business shittt don't worry about us

  • yeah that dude that has 17 thumbs up, there are WAY better battle themes than this. definitely not the best boss fight music

  • @McScreamo totally agree wit you!!!

  • @Midgarelite not trying to wreck his 17 thumbs up streak but there are better OST songs from other games that waste this

  • @McScreamo not sure why he has 17 thumbs up.... its a good ost just not the best...

  • @McScreamo Well everyone has there own tastes, I personally think this was the best ost to me...but yes there are really awesome osts out there :D

  • I don't mean to be rude, but... unless I've missed something, you don't fight during this song. This comes in at the end of story (practically) during a cutscene when Kos-Mos and Jin are fighting off the Gnosis while Yeshua and Mary (from what I remember) contain that machine. Matter of fact, this song (in parts) shows up 2 or 3 times near the end (T-elos, Kos-Mos's proclamation, the escape from Michtam, and when Kos-Mos gently floats to Earth/or some place... if I remember) It's not in a fight

  • @KazuyaRazuKazama

It's during the final fight with T-elos when KOS-MOS awakens as Mary Magdalene.

  • where did u get the background from??

  • I barely got through part 1 and 2 because of the drawn out boring storyline of this series. 40 minutes CS of snooze. Add in some sub-par voice acting to boot.

  • @MrVilfat for some reason it happened the same to me, even though they say that the first was awesome and this and that. I personally really liked the third by far

  • Whenever i hear this song, i cant help but cry a little...

  • I remember the first time I fought this battle. It took me forever because it took me about a full minuet to select a command since I kept stopping to listen to the music.

  • I absolutely love this song! I made a seperate save so that I could go back to that fight whenever I wanted just so I could hear it!

  • @RyuuUkigo Heh, i've been doing that for a while, i can recommend it. Only problem with Xenosaga is that i don't have enough room for all the saves ^^;

  • So... Last I played Xenosaga 2.... I was fighting some chick at the end of a spaceship towards the start of the disc...this was YEARS ago. The game had a SHIT battle system and I couldn't take it. They should of kept the system from the first.... But I love the story. SHould I just read a game script and watch the cgi from 2 and go out and pick up 3?

  • @Falexxx If you can't stand the battle system in 2, (witch is understandable) then that would probably be a good alternative in order to get through to play 3. If you thought the first game was good, 3 will absolutely blow you away. They changed the battle system again, and it is more like the first game except I would count the points that are different as an improvement. And the best part, Traps anywhere!!

  • This is good stuff.

  • @blargityish agree its so annoying

  • haha 1st of all yes im lil bit crazy... but this always reminds me of ToS yuan tries to kill kratos scene in hima...

    Kratos: Lloyd...Dont Die

    Lloyd: What?

    Kratos: Dont worry about it

Lloyd: how can u tell me not to worry after saying something like that :D..

yea its funny but think about it for a sec... imagine ur dad is gonna kill u tomorrow...

  • @iisaaaaa "imagine your dad is gonna kill u tomorrow" it'll be a blessing for him then -- Thanks. -_-

it is a nice song though right?

  • Hmm, I've never played the game or anything from the xenosaga series, but purely based on the music....it seems really lacking. I feel like the list got flipped or something because the first 50 impressed me more than the second 50.

  • This sounds like a church hymn from around the end of Lent. The subject matter of that time is usually death and rebirth... so this is fitting for when it plays, I think.

  • Fuck, I NEED to play this saga.

Cannot believe this is a final boss track!

  • Usually, themes like this mean either something big just happened, or the end is near. Kinda like when your in your last moments and all your friends and family are around you shedding tears. Then you die with a smile and start to drift away into the unknown.....

  • 24?! WTF?!

  • yes this song should in the first number 10 list

  • the atmosphere of living in a dying universe, with angels of death ready to consume all existence and swallow everything into it's ark.. it really haunts me... fearful present, tragic past and uncertain future... searching for the wisdom of god, struggling for a place in the universe, looking for an answer to life

    that's what xenosaga all about...

  • @Kaiserzel ....deep.

  • @Kaiserzel ......(no comment needed)

  • FUCK YOU KOS-MOS IS NOT DEAD, NEVER. SHION WILL FIND HER IN SPACE IN EP 4 AND THEN THEY WILL CONTINUE TO KICK ASS T_T

  • @Hupuable Easy, friend...I'm sure they will...if ever Monolith gets its head out of its ass and bothers making the next 3 games like they were supposed to..

  • @Hupuable for god's sake at least put a warning at the beginning of your comment if you're going to spoiler something.

I was planning to play this game but by accidentally reading your comment, you already ruined it for me since it probably was one hugeass spoiler.

  • @RyodanDragonica then stop drawing attention to his post.

and you read comments in all caps that start with FUCK YOU? why?

  • @AzarrianThunda I am drawing attention to his post so that hopefully other people won't accidentally read his spoiler.

And it is simply BECAUSE that person wrote in caps that his comment caught my eye and thus made me read it accidentally, simple as that.

  • I think an instrumental version of this song was played during (spoiler) KOS-MOS's final moments when she sacrificed herself at the end, maybe even a little beforehand during Jin's death. Not entirely sure. Such a sad moment. Great song, both versions of it.

  • This is such a sad theme, but amazing.

  • The sad part about this theme is that you know you're close to finishing the game and after all that has happened, you just didn't want it to end. I still can't believe it did.

  • xenosaga 3's soundtrack is just too nice.

  • I'm amazed Hepatica is this low on the list. It's one of the most unique battle themes ever used...

  • wow this is awfully calming, is has quite the same effect on me as the "shrine of the lake" theme, both beautiful, and even more when you know what's behind the song.

    5 stars!

  • Don't know why they stopped the series; They screwed in EP II but III made up for it. They should at least make another title with kos-mos in it, but not coming from another dimension -_-'

  • It was originally supposed to be six episodes, but they were forced to cut it down to three after II had disappointing sales.

They did manage to make a decent ending to the series in III, though it's really a shame that three eps got axed.

  • This is a battle theme? o O

  • Yes; in the game, makes sense, and it's a beautiful song

  • Yeah, it was played during the final fight with T-elos.

  • yeah the fight with Telos the part with more movement in teh song is the part when you win the battle ; )

  • This is too beautiful. I'm really sad this series ended...

  • I respect your opinion, but 24#? this song must be in 2# or 1# place of course have another amazing battle themes, but Xenosaga battle themes must be more credits:)

  • This is incredibly beautiful. Seems so...tranquil.

  • It's like the same effect you get in Final Fantasy VII during the J-E-N-O-V-A Life battle when Aeris's theme is playing in the background

  • I'm shocked that people would complain about this battle theme, If I remember correctly they use it during a battle where one of your characters life is on the line and by outward appearance you have little chance of winning. I don't want to spoil it and it's been 3 years since I played it. This game had me at the edge of tears a few times and I was 24 at the time. The song was used perfectly in my opinion.

  • Noticed some people complaining about the song's speed/style...which doesn't matter all too much since a turn-based RPG can take many liberties with its music, long as it doesn't suck (which, of course, this doesn't).

Plus, I think the developers intentionally made it soft for the song to stand out more. I mean, when I finally got to the boss T-****, the first thing I noticed was how quiet the song was. It had a strange effect on me.

    Strange, yet so epic.

  • And you're so right. Battle music doesn't always have to be bloodboiling or upbeat. It's the application of the music at the right place that matters.

  • I couldn't agree with you more. I think this song fit the fight beautifully.

  • You're right, but we gotta admit that sometimes an upbeat song can make your adrenaline flow through all your body.I love this song, whether it's a final boss song or not.

  • @KousukeUeki12 Yeah I know in Tales of Vesperia when (SPOILER WARNING)- Yuri fights Estelle for the second time the theme that plays is a soft and sweet theme rather than your typical ear hammering fast pace battle theme.

  • @KousukeUeki12 mm I know what you mean. One of the few other places I know of gotta the Requiem of gemeni from soul nomad that plays during the final battle.

  • 24??? You're pretty dumb for putting this song on #24...put it on #3 or #2 or even #1...this was by far the besttttt Boss Fight ever... I used Shion, Kos-Mos, and MOMO.

  • @yusuckass8

It's just an opinion. Calm down. It's dumb to argue against one.

  • Comment removed

  • @xOmniCloudx Exactly...and I gave MY OPINION as well... :)

  • @yusuckass8 Shut up pussy.

  • @GoldDragoon07 Ooooo you called me a pussy :/// lmfaoo stay outta shit you weren't even involved dumb fuck :)

  • @yusuckass8 I thought I told you to SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • @GoldDragoon07 Ohh sorry I didn't know we could actually "talk" online, so I really can't shut the fuck up...:| DUMBASS xD

  • @yusuckass8 You trying to be funny? Stop failing miserably.

  • @GoldDragoon07 Nope, the only one failing here is you. I don't intend to be funny, but your stupid actions are astonishing my friend :) Please just stfu, you fail horribly.

  • @yusuckass8 Ok, sure. Also, please kill yourself. (and your family)

  • @GoldDragoon07 Oooooo okayyy will do :)

  • @GoldDragoon07 don't tell ANYONE to kill themselves, it's not funny. My friend died last year from killing herself. Don't tell anyone to do that, it's the most unfunny and horrible thing you can say someone.

  • @yusuckass8 This is his PERSONAL list, why don't you go and make one yourself, with this one being #3 #2 or #1......I LOVE THIS SONG

  • @Ahluk1 Stupid idiot, i'm giving my opinion, now stfu, this damn convo was over like months ago...LATEEE

  • @yusuckass8 I really am sorry if I angered you, I just got a little carried away, but I really do think this is a great battle theme.

  • @yusuckass8

it's his list he doesn't speak for the entire world. dipshit.

  • @PencilShavings Yeah in case you didn't know, we're done with this "debate" like a year ago homie. I'd like if you'd stfu and mind your own damn business, thanks :)

  • KOS-MOS #1 Sexy Robot. I destroyed all 3 games and I have to agree the easiest and most fun is 3. There are some great cutscenes in 2 but you can just look them up.

  • wow...great song what kind of battle was this?! no....don't tell me i havent played the game

  • heavenly song....oh my T_T

  • (I meant to say - "..all the climatic parts are in III-" not II)

  • But also, it's not just because of this battle theme that I love Xenosaga III. (I admit II was terrible, I was 12 when I played it and i thought so.) But III somehow seems to create even more depth of feeling and complexity to the story, and all the climatic parts are II since they combined 4 games into 1. You're so connected and caring about all the characters by the end that all these feelings happen when everything goes wrong. The only game that's gotten me to cry and multiple times I love it

  • I love this battle theme. But personally I think it deserves to be in the top 10. It creates such a sense of nostalgia and feeling when you're fighting. It was the first time I had a battle that had soft music with it, and it was really stirring. Xenosaga III was, without a doubt, my favorite video game.

  • like cherish memories, how can ya say this is bad, it has an emotional effect.

  • Mmm hearing this melody makes me want to break away the plastic seal still on the case and play it, even though i haven't finished episode 2.

  • Episode II was horrible.

Episode III made up for it, though. Especially by fixing the mech system. :)

  • 2 was an upgrade lol but it has pain in the ass mini quest

  • I used to have this in my iTunes.

When I did, it was one of the few select songs I could listen to repeatedly and never tire of.

If I only had it now... : /

  • u mite be able to get it on fristwire duz dat help?

  • Meh, Kinda'. I use BitTorrent for the most part. Haven't really used anything else.

I'll probably find some other mean, though.

  • II wasn't that great, but it's worth pushing past to play III. And it's not that long anyways. You can easily finish it in less than 20 hours and most of that is cut scenes.

  • Isn't out in the Uk, I mean :/ Gahh not fair

  • Yeah that really sucks... all we got was the horrid Xenosaga 2, which made absolutely no sense if you hadn't played the first game.

I was going on Wikipedia everytime someone opened their mouth, just so I knew what the hell they were talking about.

  • Did it send?

  • I was silly and brought Xenosaga II from Amazon, I've only played a bit and I don't understand what they're talking about, even watching

the bonus dvd get's me all confused. Oh well, I'm not much fond of Sci-Fi RPG's, more of a fantasy type.

  • Wow I can't stop listening to this song, it's so sad and yet beautiful, it really moves me. I've never played the games so I think I should? Shame, cos I heard II isn't so good, and III is out in the Uk :/

  • Although Episode II was a let-down, Episode I was a great! I can't speak for Episode III though, since I haven't played it yet :P

  • Awws. Wish I could play I and III, it'd make more sense to me then (:

  • I just found Xenosaga III for $20 used from Gamestop! w00t! I'm gonna start playing it tonight!

  • Where? If it's Lunenburg It might have been Mine cause I sold mine about 1 1/2 weeks ago. LOL

  • Its songs like Hepatica and June Mermaid (Xenogears) that set apart the average RPG from the great. Not all boss battle music has to be fast and full of electric guitar. Those are nice, but emotional ones are great too. You get the feeling that your fighting a battle against your will, in a way that twists the emotions. It's so excellent.

  • One of the best games ever, if only for the story. I think it's one of those stories that's best left alone the way it is, like star wars before the prequils. But if they ever did continue, I think this is one of the few developers I would trust not to ruin it.

  • this song easily hits the core feeling of the characters in the game, hopefully namco will allow the game on a next-gen system... either way this song is great, could be used for the scene with virgil and feb too, when he leaves being a testament

  • I don't know why most RPGs do not use strong and emotional songs for some battles. It actually bothers me that they don't, stupid Japanese.

  • hearing this makes me want to cry.... it brings alot of tears to my eyes... dispite the fact this song belongs to an amazing game..... it also belongs to everyone... in a way..... this is one game i will never forget.

  • I remember when I first fought T-elos just before Kevin (who still beat until now "kevin") it was an epic fight full of emotions

  • Overall, Xenosaga was an excellent and well made trilogy unlike any other.

I didn't like Episode II that much because there was no index, therefore I had NO idea what was going on, forcing me to remember EVERY single detail. But I did like how Episode II took place from Jr's perspective instead of Shion's like in Episode I and III.

However, I do wish the series will continue with a 4th, hopefully picking up where III left off, with Shion and Jr looking for Earth, KOS-MOS and chaos

  • I have all 3 games its hard has hell. but the 3rd episode kicks ass. its the best of the series. I hope it will contunue somehow... "cross my fingers"

  • I agree. The 3rd episode was not only the best in the whole trilogy, but definitely one of the greatest games I have ever played. Episode 3 was amazing from top to bottom. I hope they start a new trilogy in the future, picking up right where episode 3 left off

  • Same here man, I wish a sequel was in the works.

But it's been said that the trilogy is finished, such a shame really to this amazing series.

I heard they're were supposed to be 6 episodes originally though.

  • ah no wonder this song is good. it's yuki kajiura :D

  • wohooo ! althought i didn really played this game .. starting only .. but any song lyke this more pls send me the link or tell me pls .... THx For Uploading ! LOVed this song

  • i didn´t play the game, but i LOVE the soundtracks is there a version for europe (germany)?

  • honestly, this should be on top 10, at least. love this song, love the game, and love the saga

  • I'm man enough to admit that this made me cry...lol

  • Oh, dear God, this fight.

One of my favorite boss fights in the game, second only to the Kevin boss fight (and that's just because I'd like to deck him in the jaw for being such an asshole). Very, very effective use of music, made it such an emotional battle.

  • I cant believe shion almost went with kevin allen is much more fitting becuas shion is strong, outgoing, rash, agressiv and trublesome and allen is shy, weak, kind, hates truble and allways stands by shion(unlike a certain boss near the end of the game in red)

  • You say that now, but what about Allen's Rambo act in the ending?

  • how dose that change anything

  • He's just not as much of a wimp as you think :)

No bearing on who she should have chosen.

  • i think she shold have chosen allen and she did plus allen wont leav shion i was surprised whan he became play able

  • does anyone have the link to the photo in this video?

  • Personally, I loved the combat systems and gameplay of all three.

This song is among the saddest and most fitting battle themes that I can think of.

  • Thank u the combat systems were actually original and made the game better

  • the first and the second were just to hard. but the combat systems has been improved by the 3rd episode

  • The pic that displays there..... is that a pic of kos-mos at the VERY end of the game, floating through space, destroyed? And is that supposed to be mary above her? i... can't.... tell...... sorry XD

  • no wait, that's shion above her i think... XD

  • this plays during the second fight with Telos for those that dont kno

  • is it really battle music??? don´t sound´s so ^^

  • This form of music is often far more powerful emotionally, during an important, defining battle.

You need to expand your mind a bit, friend.

  • I don't remember this playing, and I beat it 3 times. Maybe I just have a bad memory.

  • It was in the church against the combat realians after Feb's death.

  • Ah, no wonder. I kill them so fast, I didn't remember it.
