how does one achieve the correct bow pressure?

I've tried a violin but it sounds so terrible my cat joins in!!

No bow pressure!It is more the delicate balance between the weight of the arm and the upper part of the body.

So its more a case of having as little pressure as possible between bow and string/s?

i have the same problem with bow pressure i dont know if too much weight on the strings makes it squek or not, does it?
