If I go to San Diego and look only for bars, prostitution or drugs, I will find it, but that is only one face of San Diego. when I lived in Tijuana, I wasnt aware of things that exist, you learn from tourist. In the south of Mexico,,Tijuana is considered a place of high income, with a lot of work in the factories or "maquiladoras" it has become home to hundreds of people from the south. Tijuana has an economy of its own. tourism is only part of it.

I used to live in Tijuana for 13 years I owned a printing company and my wife and small son lived there very happy. On Sundays we would go to the coast at Rosarito or we would go to fine restaurants, locals dont ever go to Revolucion or to the tourists bars you dont even think they exist. We would go to church or visit our relatives. My brother or I would do bbq's for birthdays, we went to weddings, first communions at church. in other words there is a different world for locals, not tourist

This is not really Tijuana or Mexico, what you saw on this video is simply a small area of the city that is frequented by Americans seeking cheap bars, sex and drugs. There are nice areas that the locals frequent, and tourists are unaware of. I'm from Cd. Juarez (a border city with El Paso,Tx) and I study in New Mexico. when i was in TJ it was for a two day "adventure" on el mexico border. i arrived late in the morning as the shady locals seemed tobe sleeping off there nights prior. a friend and i got a room(each) fr about $75 usd which included a queen bed and huge spa-tube(it was a clean room?). after wandering through shops and repeling many offer of drugs, women and what i was sure was stolen goods we met some locals and soaked in their traditions with language being not such a problem. my bro was robbed...
