5800 kv means 5800 rpm per volt so if you run a 3s1p lithium pack that motor will do 62000 rpm ! so good luck i use 3s on my mamba (8900kv) and its silly
jees man you give us English a bad name, it's milli amps not mega amps stoopid! and brushless means the motor has no brushes inside, it is a servo motor, it runs by electronic pulses to a number of coils. are you sure your safe with thing?
Oh behave! I'd only just got that motor second hand off ebay and it had no instructions so I didn't know what mah ment. Because of everybodies comments I do now. But who cares it runs very quick now!
oh sure and if they cant get justice for the officers behaviour after being tazed , what chance do you think they have of any other complaint being taken seriously einstien? wake up and realise these people are the only people defending YOUR rights against living in a already declining police state. wake up!
Well that was bit of a marathon commenting session. I never really set out to cause such a candid debate. Only to make my rc bike go faster. Good luck to you and have a fantastic day!
2 words for ya.... LITHIUM POLYMER!!!! lipo batteries are the ONLY way to go if you're going brushless.... and the 5800kv rating on your motor is more or less an RMP gauge... it tells you how fast the pinion turns w/o being reduced...
true, but you get alot more power per amp w/ lipo batteries than you do nimh or nicad batteries. trust me i found this out the hard way on my Team Losi speed-t..... it says its rated for 65+ mph out of the box..... 15c 3s 1500mah pack *box says the esc can handle up to a 8000mah pack* gave me soo much torque i completely stripped my differential gear out... what sucks, the truck has been out less than a month and there are NO SPARE PARTS OUT FOR IT YET!
I've been running this bike recently with a 11.1v 3 cell lipo and to be honest it's far too over powered. I managed to flip it over completely the other day during a wheely and it severed the riders head off and (strangely) distroyed the TX crystal. In BRCA racing they limit the batteries to to cell 7.4 V lipos.
A standard Thunder Tiger brand new is about £150 ($250?). Thats a complete bike motor, radio, the lot. A brushless system (that will make it go a lot faster) for it would cost about £150 ($250). So about £300 ($500 +) for a quick brushless bike. Most dudes selling a tt with a brushless set up are getting about £150 max. So it's much cheaper to buy an uprated one on e bay. Happy biking!
5800kv means 5800 rpm per volt the battery puts out.just if you were wondering:).and the 4350 mah dosen't make it go faster its the voltage that does that mah means the capacity of the pack (more capacity more run time).nice project by the way i enjoyed you transformation of the ricky carmichel bike and i think i will enjoy this one just as much.

kv is revolutions per volt in the case of brushless motors.
The motor shown will do 5800 revs on 1 volt. Or 41760rpm on 7.2 volts.

@JonskyGBR thanks man thats really helpful i always wondered what kv meant.

More or less an RPM gauge, that my friends is one of the dumber things Ive heard in a while, congrats.

actually its rpms/volt..... look at any rc site and it will tell you the exact same thing... i was just trying to put it into lamens terms....
