  • Fantastic stuff. Overplayed? Silly monkeys! Stewart always "overplayed" during live stuff. Stewart was not into precisely reproducing the record in live shows. They wanted to do something else and to entertain. This is the live version, which WAS faster and louder and more nuts. To me, it sounds like the song speeds up a bit around the 29 second mark. But that is probably because the gig was wild and everyone was pumped. Good job, brother.

  • If you would just think of this as the live version, which it is, then the tricks and chops and licks are so Stewart Copeland and this guy nails that reggae feel ten fold over anyone i have seen on YOUTUBE...so anyone criticizing this performance needs their head examined..this guy is brilliant and the overplay people complain about is what playing live is all about!!! Wake Up!!

  • overplaying just ruins good music.

  • Hey man, you're overplaying the song. Your timing is off. Your're playing the song to fast by the way.

  • I enjoyed this.

  • you rock dude. your grip looks so uncomfortable! but least you got your own style(;

  • you have a very good technique, and your cover is original as well. congrats!

  • your left hand blows my mind. brilliant job man, sick set also

  • no drum or cymbal feels left out with you lol

  • did they speed it up when they played it live? sounds a bit too fast

  • you are amazing :D keep playing like this (Y)

  • you play fucking awesome :D

  • very good, however, bought back the hi hat rod that moves too!

  • 4:37 well thats the end of that stick

  • Youuu areee amazinng :D

  • nice, but invest in a new hi-hat stand lol.

  • You know bro that song is so old now. You have kids now hearing it for the first and only time /studio version. I remember going to see my first favorite band live. I had never heard them play live, only on an album. I was still a kid and I couldn't believe how they sounded live when i first heard it. I was like WTF is this sloppy crap!? That's probably why you got the overplaying comment. Look at it this way if you can over play Coplands drumming you are a drummer God, lol. Nice work !!

  • Awesome. Can I have your left hand?

  • what the brand drums?

  • I think it's great. You cannot overplay a Police song, because S. Copeland live plays just like he did in this video, and it's just adding to the flavor of the song. Remember, The Police was a trio, so everyone had to bring something extra, specially live.

  • Maybe time for a new hi hat stand? or maybe just stick a sugar packet under the wobbly leg. lol great playing

  • That was an awesome cover man keep it up! highly entertaining!

  • your zildjian a's sound like sex

  • I might suggest moving your ride to the left more you like your having trouble playing it

  • super

  • Whats your hi hat im looking for a new one and yours sound like what i want:)

  • GRAN TRABAJO!!! jejeje eres un master!

  • good job, and nice job you kept playing while you stick broke, i think that happened, but good job

  • i truly don't see how this is overplayed. it's more than the original recording maybe, but Stewart Copeland is known for abusing that hi-hat. haha it's one of his trademarks.

i thoroughly enjoyed the cover. :)

  • Overplayed???? How do you Overplay Drums?? the more the better!! GO ANTHONY!!

  • Good job man. Let's get The Patrol going.

  • Is sooooooooooooooo good maaan

  • i think that its is an amazing cover. it only sounds overplayed because of the recording quality. good work

  • Well, I think you did GREAT. I love your version of this song and "Good Times Bad Times" by Led Zeppelin. I think you're the second best drummer on YouTube. madmaxdrums777 is the best but you and him are close. Two totally different styles. I would put you both in my band if I could but sorry...I'm the drummer for my band! You don't know how much I respect you for your ability on drumming! Keep drumming and putting up videos. Go to my channel and send me some of your other drum covers!

  • Great job! You were in the zone and that's what matters. Great style. There to many critics on youtube that judge the "pure copy" of the origional. As for me, I like when a drummer adds his/her style with flow.

  • Overplayed? No. Awesome? Yes.

  • excellent bud.true to the spirit of the live version of roxanne...play what you feel...

  • Phenomenal drumming! Well done. And I like the traditional grip. Don't see many do that these days.

  • hey, who cares if you didn't play it spot on like the actual one, still sounds good to me...great job

  • MAS O MENOS..

  • With Stew 99.9% of the time it's actually a "4 hit " like a horse gallop on the hi hats and you gotta be even more suttle in bringing up your left foot. He doesnt do that bounce roll that i see you doing. IT'S RLRLR R R that starts on roxanne. or (RLRL) most of the time that he does it's actually less notes but harder to play.

  • goood

  • fricken awesome mate, would love to be able to play like that :0 x

  • sick!

  • absolutely fantasitc !!! I love Stewart Copeland drum style.

  • cool style with one snaring hand and one normal

  • Check out Astrotama - Rush cover drummer. Hands down, one of the best on youtube.

  • interesting setup, i really really like it

  • ....from Spain I like it, how play boy, cogratulaions.

  • hands down the best drummer on the tube. positively forceful. thanks for sharing anthony, you are a drum god

  • shut up

  • Nice....you broke a stick....What did the stick ever do to you?....haha.

    Brilliant playing, though.

  • Dude I cant enough of your playing man...simply amazing.

  • I haven't been this inspired by a drummer since I first saw Tommy Igoe play. This is a fantastic rendition.

  • Nice kit!

  • Copeland overplayed all the time Especially live !!! Great playin' dude....I thought you nailed it !!

  • i could understand people saying you over played if this was the original record your playing along, as its live i thinks an excellent rendition of one of the greatest drummers of all time.

I enjoy this video and love the work on the roto toms you nailed it! 10/10

  • thanks- everyone's got opinions, I'm certainly open to them and see no need to be a jerk just because I don't agree

  • @specialanthony did you take lessons? did they help? any tips to a new drummer?

  • Normally I'd say to each his own but Overplayed? I respectfully disagree! Are you referring to the hihat and rototom fills? If so than take another listen to this version off the LIVE album(disc 1). While I may not have played it note for note, fill for fill, Stewart "overplayed" it just as much. ;)

As for the meter- you got me there. I was certainly off a few times, but hey I never claimed to be a machine! I'm a drummer! ;)

  • @specialanthony dont listen to him dude, this is sweet!

  • @specialanthony I think its obvious this clown is not a follower of copeland, this is exactly his style, he would be proud, great cover bud:)!!!

  • @specialanthony I am sorry, it seems my comments have sparked quite the debate, I know my guitar playing could use a lot of work, I should not have judge so quickly.

  • @specialanthony I'm afraid ukaxeman is somewhat correct. You obviously have studied this particular live version of this song. However, your meter is all over the place. Back to basics, my friend. Practice simple patterns with a metronome. Less is more. You certainly have very good skills, but great timing is what makes a great drummer. I don't agree with the overplaying part of the comment, though. Very tasteful fills, very well executed. Post more. I'll be checkin' em out. Peace.

  • @specialanthony are you using mics?

  • @specialanthony I think you did great, at first I thought you overplayed it but then I was thinking that it IS a live version, and Stewart does play like that live. I did a drum cover of the studio version on my channel.

  • Keeping it simple, ya right. You're supposed to have fun when you play an instrument not be generic. If he likes to "overplay," than let him be.

  • @ukaxeman

I'm pretty sure stewart copeland overplays it even more.

there is no such thing as "overplaying" bud.

  • awesome Simply great

  • Awesome tom and splash work.

  • amazing

  • like always amazing job! check out my bands vids the channels called headlightshl.

  • yup, you're still very good at drums. lol good job man
