This is a "white knight" issue. Aka it's one of those games reviewers bash to feel better about themselves.

Onechanbara is a decent B-movie grind-house styled budget hack n slash serving as a guilty pleasure. It doesn't hold a flame next to Dynasty Warriors 7 or Sengoku Basara but I liked the supernatural urban horror setting that separated it from the pack.

Western reviewers tend to give all hack n slashes a rather low score regardless of their quality anyway. I'd say it's a "C-" overall.

not all reviewers, some of us still have some common sense and aren't bored with our jobs yet. Hack N Slash has been around for a while and hasn't really changed. Though I don't agree with Slayers getting a 1 the game is atleast a 2 or 3. The 360 game I agree with the score, other then the great cut-scene quality and simple pick and play gameplay mechanics...Vortex doesn't have much going for it. Also the series isn't based on an Anime, it had a movie later.

I'm not one to defend the Onechanbara games (for good reason) but they really didn't talk much about it. Just how bad is this game exactly? I mean, what are the flaws? Just messed up translations and the fact that it focuses more on gore and T&A enough to make it bad? You mind telling me how broken the gameplay is or if there are a lack of modes or something like that?

I'd like to be more informed when a game is bad, thank you.

@Falcovsleon21 I agree with you but I played both games for the Wii and Xbox 360. True both games are repetitive but the one on the 360 had the worst controls and the driving part was wonky just like the camera. the wii game is fun because of the motion controls and they work better then I expected. But then again I had fun because I remembered that these games are still part of the "Simple series" so they're made on a very low-budget.

awesome... i dont know why this was brought to the states. i guess americans will never get it. the word "get" is like a l33t speak in japanese culture with a mix of making fun of a engrish. they also dont have this victorian attitude towards sex appeal so we see it as comedic reference and a tease to JP. Actually it's not that bad. It takes more skill then he makes it out to be. Mastering the “Cool Combo” is an example. As for the translation error meh it's not a big deal.
