  • PLus nice que le 2012

  • wow that's like the size of the honda fit we have today

  • My first car was a '78 Accord hatchback. Bitchin' little car, with the rear seat folded down I could crash out in the back after a night of partying. Not to be confused with a sports car, or a car that can go fast, this car had some getup. I had the manual though. I'd love to get one of these now and put a small block V8 in it. If it's fit, probably not. To this day I have a fondness for Honda and hatchbacks, One day this shitty style will come back around...

  • wow it can do handbrake turns

  • From day one, I had my 1980 Accord rust proofed by Ziebart. I had no issue for the 10 years I drove it. I then gave it to a buddy of mine and he drove it for another 6 years, totally something over 280,000 miles. Awesome car.

  • Let me tell you I had one and it was a rust bucket for sure and it always had problems

  • RUST BUCKETS.

  • OHIO?!?!?!?!

  • @SquireBob2764 Lots of Accords are built in Ohio.

  • @SquireBob2764 From the mid 1980's on, Honda was manufacturing Accords in Marysville Ohio.

  • oh how I wish I had my old 81 4 door, please someone find me one :(

  • back then, this car was tough. Awesome

  • back then, this car was tough.

  • I wish when I drove music orchestrated to everything I did.

  • in the 1980 with Ivan Cabrero

  • lol this reminds me of the Enzyte commercial.. "This is Bob. Bob is doing great, that's because recently Bob....."

  • Remember what happened to those cars when you slam the brakes at 40-60 mph?

  • amazing that over 80% of these are still on the road. honda all the way baby!

  • Used to own 4 of these. Two were hatchbacks (A '78 and an '80) and two were sedans (An '80 and an '81). Miss them, shouldn't have sold them.

  • Mom flew to Washington, drove one back, I drove it for 3 years... then sold it like a dumbass :(

  • -This car was so cramped it felt like a dog house on wheels,it was so slow it had a calendar instead of a speedometer, total disgrace...

-Economical though, but not worth the suffering.

  • 1981 Models weren't Bad....79-Earlier Models were Like that !!

  • My first new car, a 1980 Honda Accord. Awesome car. I sold it 10 years later with 187,000 miles to a friend of mine. He drove it for about 2 years more, adding another 40,000 miles or so. Then a much larger car broad sided it while it was parked.

  • Rack and pinion steering!? WOW!

  • Wow, a Terra Cotta one. I thought all those Accords back then were that funky light green color.

  • @crysisdood i guarantee that that's one of the most ridiculous comments ever.

  • It runs like a top - totally mint

  • my parents had one of these cars mint m8

  • I love this car. My friend just bought one for $370 at a dealership, except it was a 1982 model and came in black. The only problem is that is has 198,000 miles and will probably die soon. But overall the car is in great condition, it even rides nice!

  • @mypassmark1 I was constipated once- really bad! Doc gave me an industrial strength laxitive.... soon.. out came a 1981 Accord!. Now I know their origin...... Also explains why most of them were only in various shades of brown......

  • this is a 81 honda how dare you!!!

  • thats ugly

  • lol , the guy across the street has one of those 81 honda accords , he wont sell it either , still running

  • I owned a 1985 Honda Civic hatchback--loved that rack & pinion steering!!!

  • I used to have one of those except it was electric green..cute little car but it wasnt very reliable

  • @Prizm2356 yeah you don't see to many of those anymore

  • Oh yeah!!

  • Remember this car, but it's funny and odd how even when I see it brand new in this commercial it just looks old and used to me.

  • @lcvd1 I'm the same way with a lot of these '80s car ads, and even some '90s ones now. What's even stranger is cars I remember as being brand new nowadays being rusty and have peeling paint.

  • @lcvd1 must be the terrible video quality lol. You cant really see any real features :[

  • @lcvd1 you must be young those older cars look better then that new trash they build now your brains are used you doing drugs lol make sense it's probably the old commecial that make you think that

  • Wish they would offer the Accord hatchback again in either 3 or 5 dr.

  • Remember the 3 door 85 Accord? It always reminded me of Inspector Gadgets car in the cartoon series of the 80's. I'mnot sure how old you are or if ya even seen that cartoon series, but the Gadget Mobile resembled that Accord a lot.

  • @GatorsNation The Gadgetmobile turned from the US 3-door hatch into the Kammback 3-door wagon that most of the rest of the world got!

  • The 1985 Accord Hatchback with the long-stroke 1800 cc 12-valve engine was the most amazing cars I've ever driven !

Engine characteristics was I-D-E-A-L , and the progressive servo steering nothing short of Perfect (!) - yes Sir! I said PERFECT.

Add to the engine and the steering, a distinct, short-stroke 5-speed gearbox, and you end up with a nimble, quick extremely fun drivers car !!

Nothing on four wheels even come close re. enjoyment !

The FUN factor beat all cars I've ever driven !!!

  • Is that a side bagger or rear bagger? Does it have a mulching blade?

  • I love you, Honda!

  • i wonder how much its worth now

  • You've come a long way baby!

  • Haha, the days when all Japanese imports were tiny tin cans. I'd probably take one of those over a current Accord any day. Bet this '81 is a hell of a lot less problematic. They had no features to break! LOL

  • sounds like you had a bad experience.... My 03, 08, and 09 Accord's have all been virtually flawless...

  • You must be lucky then. The one person I know with an accord ('05 I think) has problems with hers. It makes a farting noise inside the car, lmao. She's so embarrassed and Honda won't fix it.

  • Actually, I forgot about a former friend of mine. He had an '05 Accord as well. His would stutter when he'd step on the gas, like it was going to stall. He was so pissed to have spent so much on an Accord and it still have issues like anything cheaper.

  • Japanese cars are less problematic than American cars...

  • That's the perception anyway. Don't know if it's still the case, but Accords had terrible automatic transmissions for a couple decades. 100k and then they die. Might as well buy a friggin' cheapo Taurus if you're gonna deal with that kind of crap.

  • Every car I've had has been a Honda and never had problems with the trannies. Hell, my old Accord had 334K miles on her and still ran nicely.

  • As if anyone that really wants to drive wants an auto anyway....

  • That's beside the point, but yes I agree. I drive a 2006.5 Kia Optima with a 5-spd manual. More fun to be in control.

  • It's true that first Acoord is 3 door hatch. But why still can't I accept that...

  • where is the right side-view mirror at?

  • they didn't care about those back then

  • My 04 Accord gets better mileage than the 03 Corolla I unfortunately had. Honda all the way!

  • They were better then! Not the barge they build today!

  • i think your right but why do you think that in your opion??

  • They are huge now...part of the early Accord appeal was that it was a small car with luxury features. Now it is ajust another full-size car and not a subcompact like the 81. Yeah...the new ones are nice enough cars....but the "tiny" fit is almost the same size outside as this 81 Accord. The 81 had nice interior materials and had nice lines too.

  • @jtart51 Exactly!

  • @jtart51 I'm pretty sure they weren't... Hahaha :P

  • @jtart51 ...lol what? The cars today are a hell of a lot better than those. More Safe, powerful, efficient, longer lasting, the list goes on.

  • @jakesaintsrow123 My brothers car being a 1986 Honda Civic had an MPg of 28, my old mans car being a 2009 Chevy Malibu LTZ has an MPG of 37.. the "Cruze" sits at 61... Yes MPG is much better right now then it used to be.

  • @sacr3 i agree with you to an extent. a 1990 Mazda Miata gets around 35mpg, a 2005 Mazda Miata gets around 24mpg. so in certain cars, this is true, mainly in only the eco friendly cars that are built to get the better gas mileage. but basically any other car thats considered "sport", the MPG's have dropped. but not all of them.

  • @sacr3 longer lasting my ass lol. ever hear of the saying "they dont make them like they used to".. there's alot of truth to that for certain makes and models

  • @eroc2689 Its because old folk don't want to lose their old vehicles. Just like in 40 years i'll be sitting there saying the older ones are better. Back in those days, you buy a shitty brand, you get a shitty car. Same with today, you buy a civic, you get a car that'll break down faster than others. But Efficiency, Safety, Power, its all better than the older vehicles.

  • what are you talking about. the civic most certainly does not break down more than others. it is the bench mark the measure of reliabilty that all other small cars are measured by. the civic is one of the top 10 most reliable cars of the last 20 years. have you seen how hard young people beat there civics and they last a long time fact not opinion.. one thing about old cars they were built with higher quality materials but were not as efficient or reliable

  • @eroc2689 but overall its not true. cars back then were lucky to be at 100,000 miles. now 200,000 is like the bench mark

  • very cool

  • damn thats an accord?

look at today's....weve come a long way

  • Im convinced.

  • I want one!

  • notice the Honda trademark black steering wheel

  • ?W.T.F? that what u call a box that someone gave wheels :s

  • this was a great car..fun as hell to drive and last forever.

  • lol damn sexy box.

  • Cool! Great ad to post on here. That's exactly like my car!

  • haha thats so pud..."this is an 81' honda, how dare you"lol I love employee of the month

  • wow thanks so much for adding this!
