Obama said Ameri Corps, Peace Corps, and Senior Corps wrong. Shouldn't it have been Ameri Corpse, Peace Corpse, or Senior Corpse, that if the Corpsman mistake was really a mistake. Why is it that community service initiatives always address people who do 1 or 2 years of community service work. What about people who go into public service fields and normally make next to nothing. They do it because they have a true calling.

I don't understand how this service stuff works. First what type of service is he talking about? Secondly, people work many jobs per day. Then Factor in the time to commute to and from work. How much time does that leave to perform some services? Not much. So how will people find the time to do this. The only alternative I see, is to quite your job and do these services full time. But if people aren't working or producing things, what good would that do for the economy?

Speaking of which, I can't seem to find his 'mandatory' selective service docs, nevermind it wasn't in that status in the year he said, he could have made a one-year mistake, he was cramming hard at Oxy. But now he wanted to serve once... first I heard.

I wonder why he held that back, since he lauds service for others?

I love how apparently National Service would help us college students. Yet for students like me who already work full time and have a full load in college just to get by, adding national service or having to do that instead is would be detrimental to our finances. Sure, support volunteering but volunteering is just that. For those that can't it should not be forced upon us, it should not in ANY way affect us getting an education though garnishing federal funds for school or any of that.

The National Service is not voluntary! It's mandatory. It is slavery and a clear violation of the 13th amendment.
