  • yes the motor dose tourque alot...but i have not gone through no motor mounts.

    The fornt mount was not there for the dyno pull...it was not finished being fabricated.

    Now i have a solid mount in the front all my races were with the solid mount too

  • I have a 95 talon with a blown motor and am trying to decide what to do. The car is an A/t with the 420A engine. I found a 93 talon thats a standard I can get, problem is, the car hasn't moved in almost 5 years so the owner says, a mechanic has it, the original owner never picked it up after being fixed, a plus is the 93 has a 4g63 engine in it and its a stick shift. My situation is, should I put money into replacing my 95 esi's engine or should I get the 93 and hope for the best??

  • If you love your 420a just get another motor for it. you can go to any local junk yard and find one. Im pretty sure you and some buddies can do put the new engine in over a weekend.

    BUT if you feel like you want a different car then get the 93 the problem is you dont know what kind of mechanical problems that car is gonna have ....it might be more than you think, then that would put you right back into the same situation your in.

    Fix your 420a the 4g63 is not the world trust me.

  • damn dude i guess on my psi im gonna do to my 420 and was gonna shoot for 500 at the wheels and i said 20psi lol and not far off so i would guess about 22psi would hit 500+ btw what internals you use im looking at je 8.8:1 pistons and eagle rods but this is just for 10psi to start im gettin the 8psi kit from hahn to bolt on for 8psi for a while and my engine is already built a lil bit but not much so if you dont mind just send me what internals are best. im gettin a stage 3 head also.

  • Im using Je pistons and Eagle rods. Arp head studs and main bolts. Oringed block and copper head gasket

  • the engines were all made at the same factory in saltillo mexico . thats why the bellhousings of the trannys are identical and the blocks and bottom ends are pretty much identical . the top end is where each engine differs . tell my why a car manufacturer would make different engines variations and code them the same ... they wouldnt . look at hondas b series engine . almost all parts between b16 and b20s are interchangeable . doesnt make them the same engine code ....

  • the 420a is the same thing as the neon engine. that's all I'm saying, if you wanna beleive otherwise that's on you. and my neon has the sport transaxle, it's got shorter gears than even a neon R/T or even an SRT4's gears. it has 3.94 final drive and an overdrive of .81 as for other neons I don't exactly know cause I haven't dealt with them, I've dealt with eclipse's though and I know that it's the same engine as the DOHC that's in my car

  • the head is mounted the same . its called reverse flow . your cam angle sensor is on the intake cam . mine is in the same spot but on the exhaust cam . and your intake manifold is plastic . the reason your engine falls on its face is due to your cams making peak lift and duration around 6250 rpm . if i was you , i would get alot of head work done and leave the bottom end alone til you wanted boost .

  • actually, I don't have a plastic manifold. I have a Dual Over Head Camshaft engine, or DOHC duh the SOHC came with the plastic manifold. I have the aluminum one

  • haha, okay. buy a neon, look under the hood. take it apart, and you'll see internals are the same, the head was arguably better, and the transaxles were just facing different directions from an eclipse

  • uhhh no . internals are the same yeah . then engine is not the same code . there are three engines that the neon came with from the factory . all were similar to the 420a but were not the same . there were two sohc engines and one dohc engine . the dohc engine in the neon 95-99 is the ECC engine . the other two are A588 , and ECH . the heads do not flow better than a 420a head either . ie flowbench test . and the tranny is on the opposite side of a 4g63 eclipse , not a 420a eclipse .

  • an A588 was an SRT4 engine. I'm talking about a 1g neon, and the engines were the same, an eclipse rs has the exact same engine just the head was mounted the other way. the transaxles were the same way too. the gs engine yes, was different and it was mounted where the front of the engine is on the driver's side. but an rs eclilpse had the 420a and it was the same as a neons

  • srt 4 neon engine is the A855 not A588 buddy . and im talking about the 1g neons also . the trannys are not the same gear ratios from neon to eclipse either . the eclipse has longer ratios . rs and gs eclipse have the 420a . BOTH engines had the front on the passenger side . that is where the timing belt is . im telling you dude . neons dont have 420a coded engines . the only thing similar about the 420a engine and the neon engines are the bottom ends .

Yes, the drivetrains were different but many people believe that the GSX engine was slightly more powerful and was better for modding.

  • one is a chrysler built based on the dodge neon motor. and the other is the same 4g63 that has been in many cars. one is left handed one is right handed. 4g63 has silent shafts while the 420a did not use them. 4g63t utilizes piston oilers to compensate for the heat caused by compressing the intake charge.the 420a's main's are actually a main girdle and the 4g63 use's main cap's and the 7 bolt's are all connected like another kind of girdle. 1 gen's use 7.8-1 while mine is 8.5-1 ratio......

I have rebuilt both motors and I could tell what I like and don't like about both. mitsu motor is way tougher in stock form and is easier to build. one day I will post more vids, when it warms up and I fix my last flat tire.

  • look at the size of the turbo on it if they cant achieve these numbers its a smaller turbo.. look this is awesome, but loook at all the work into it.. im saying that the 420 takes a lot more work just to get everything it needs to be turbo in there compared to the 63 cars.. i know what its like to start from scratch as i have 96 galant with the 64/63 the hardest thing was getting it all in there at first with the 14b.. this is awesome but most ppl turbo a stock 420 and cant get # like this

  • i know i have 2 2g's a gst and a gs and odly enuf i like the gs better and my almost completly stock 95 gs with 337xxx on the original motor will hang with 8 lbs of gst al day long im tired of spending money on that 4g63 in 5 years went threw 1 7 bolt (crankwalk) and 2 6 bolts im not impressed when i get back from iraq im gonna make some mexican rice ans see what happens?? and zero fuckin awsome man what are u using for fuel managment?

  • the only reason why there are so many haters of the 420A is how much work has to be done to it to get near what the 63 and the 64/63 setups can do.. like this is/was the record not sure but its 661 and the other setups have been over that mark 4 years and many are in the thousands.. and its FWD so the power goes to waste even with slicks its hopeless and you cant make it awd like the fwd spyders and galants cuz its not a 4g motor..

  • With an adapter plate and evo trannie and gsx rear subframe this car can be AWD with the 420a..

    and FWD is not a waste of tim hondas have been proving that for years the record for a Sport FWD right now is 8.863@176 mph...You dont need AWD to be fast

  • neon's have can go faster because they weigh less and i believe one Neon 420a made more power than me but every time i ask the neon crowd to prove they can not...so as far as i know i might be the most powerful 420a ever.....DCR might have made more power back in the day though
