This final scene in the first episode was probably the most important of the entire series. If it hadn't worked, the whole series likely never would have taken off, but Julia and young Trevor Gagnon succeed perfectly in establishing their divorced-parent and child relationship, and brilliant and immortal as the character of Elaine Benes was, "Christine Campbell" consigns her to the place in TV history where she belongs. For Julia, the "Seinfeld curse" was no more.
