People have near death experiences where they go up the tunnel and towards the light, which they described as the center of knowledge, consciousness and unconditional love. These people went to heaven and didn't want to come back. Hicks believed in this. Everyone will have this experience at death no matter what. That's almost proven. So what happens if there is no other side? You hit the light, and you're brain whispers "oh sorry, you're coming with me"? I couldn't cope with it, by definition.

@kingfappington Actually you can be a Christian and an atheist in a way. Being a Jewish atheist has been a well accepted label for a while as long as you are talking about being a cultural jew. If you celebrate Christmas, go to church, take part in church activities, not because you believe but because you like the community then you're a cultural Christian. In fact most of the Western world is culturally Christian which makes me a jewish atheist cultural christian... eek. Which is good.

People have near death experiences where they go up the tunnel and towards the light, which they described as the center of knowledge, consciousness and unconditional love. These people went to heaven and didn't want to come back. Hicks believed in this. Everyone will have this experience at death no matter what. That's almost proven. With the truth, religions will be reborn, and there will be an explosion in spiritual growth. Religions will no longer be based just on blind faith. I love how Christian often means Fundamentalist in the States. In the UK everyone is Christian. Heck, I'm Christian and I've been an Atheist for 5 years. Not possible. Christianity is a belief in God and Jesus Christ as the creator of the universe. Atheism is a lack of belief in deities. An Atheist Christian is an oxymoron.

@kingfappington Actually you can be a Christian and an atheist in a way. Being a Jewish atheist has been a well accepted label for a while as long as you are talking about being a cultural jew. If you celebrate Christmas, go to church, take part in church activities, not because you believe but because you like the community then you're a cultural Christian. In fact most of the Western world is culturally Christian which makes me a jewish atheist cultural christian... eek. Which is good.

@Saddamuel Interesting concept. You would have to add the prefix "Cultural" though, as just being "Christian" is a belief in God and Jesus Christ as the creator. I am still sceptical of the concept though, as this pretty much already has the name "western" culture.
