Dammmm, This Jam Brings Back Memmories.........Hope Someone Plays This Song For Me When I Die. Till Then I'll Keep on Partying, Keep On Rockin, and Never Look Back!
loved it when it 1st came out. looked for it for almost 30yrs. found it here yesterday. the best rock and roll ballad ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where can i download this song?
This version kinda SUCKS compared to the original off the Debut lp!!... That version Really is GREAT!! ... anyone who likes this has to find the original!! ... AXE FAN #1! .... Tim.
@gremlinjr : I bought Axe's first and second LPs from a cut-out bin at Wal-Mart back in 1983 because I thought their cover arts were very cool. I lost those LPs in the late 80s and never heard them again until very recently. I had completely forgotten this song from the first album until I heard it again and when I did it was like seeing an old friend from high school again for the first time in 20 years. Trip! I agree with you on this although it's still a very true/faithful version.
1st band I ever saw live, I was 13 years old. Wasn't to familiar with them at that time.
They opened for OZZY @ Irvine Meadows Ampitheatre 1982. Blew my mind, bought all their stuff since that time. Best concert of my life! ,,,,,,,,not including the US festival 83 2nd day! ROCK ON and luv u for sharing this!~ Stewy
Oh man this is really a very good song, thank you for uploading. I was looking for it by all means. I wish I could find a video that shows them playing... but it´s ok by now, thank you and greetings from Bolivia!!!
i graduated from wheatlety h.s. now brackenridge. let me tell you that joe anthony, the godfather of rock and roll, put san antonio on the map of great rock bands. for those who dont know he put metallica on the road to success. anyone remember legs diamond. so for those who dont know shut the fuck up and go to san anto and get the reaL ROCK MUSIC. 99.5 kiss rocks san anto.
@magicmello1 I remember him playing shit that no one else ever played or didn't play for years later like Motley Crue stick to your guns/live wire,Triumph,Rush,Legs Diamond,Loudness,Mercyful Fate,Garfield,Montrose,White Pigs,Killers and so many more!A man who actually took your requests and actually PLAYED them, then pop a cold one.Highlands high school and Military Drive on Sunday nights back in the day-peace from S.A. R.I.P. Godfather.
great song, great band. glad you chose the original version instead of the remake. hope you do more axe tunes and i hope and pray you'll do songs from "babyface" which evolved into "axe"
tasha25ify They are still around. They still play the Sunken Gardens, just one of many bands that San Antonio made famous (RIOT, KILLER, BUDGIE, MOXY, & LEGS DIAMOND)!!!
Hey Pascalometer, I painstakingly worked out Battles by ear about 15 years ago. Check out my cover above under 'Axe's Battles by David K and Friends'. If you like it, I can email you the chords and keyboard parts
Oh yeah, Legs Diamond....DUH!!! Thanks to you both.
Man, I sure miss concerts in Sunken Gardens, and Freeman....hell, I miss SA. There was always great music in SA. Do either of you remember Juggernaut?
Oops... this message is meant for both Hector and Lucas
thanks for uploading! Heard this song the first time when I was seventeen (Munic City Nights-Samplers), and since then I love it. (I prefer this version, the other one (on the 20 Years?) is not so good, I think. (Only my opinion)
Its a pity that no more than a few people seems to know this great band!
Man, I'm from Brazil and I used to listen to the Offering album 24/7 back in 1983......they were quite famous down here......almost cried listening to it again.........
I'm from S.A. and you are right, it seems like no one knows who Axe is. I travel working always calling in stations to play Axe and all the could say is who.
I've been looking for this song since I first heard it, so thank you so much. 8) lol That was so long ago I actually forget when but I remember loving this song!!!
Yeh i am so happy KZEP in San Antonio plays this along with other rarities. It really separates that station from all the other crappy stations around the country.
yeah that is true one station in san antonio really rocks and that is KZEP i made my move to the rio grande valley McAllen and the Q 94.5 rock station here dont know about our classic rock such as Moxy , Triumph , budgie, Axe , and other bands Joe Anthony the Godfather helped. Im freakin lost here no die hard SA fans i miss san antone.
Yeah, I remember Joe Anthony!!! He introduced many bands to the world. Y&T, Tigers of Pantang, Scorpions, Def Leppard.... Do you remember a song called Woman, and who did it?
I'm all shitz&giggles talking to someone from home. :~)
@swamp1985 Totally agree! I'm in Corpus Christi, Texas; the classic rock station here really sucks compared to growing up with 99.5 Kiss and 104.5 This CC station plays the same songs everyday - very little Triumph, Legs Diamond, Axe,, etc.............Move away from S.A. and you'll hear how deprived other classic rock stations are.
I must have been living in a bubble, because while visiting in San Antonio I heard Battles played and loved it. The stations I've worked at we never even played any of Axes's music....missed out for sure! I've looked for it but so far have not been able to get it anywhere....still searching! Awesome ballad. :>)
THANK YOU! I have been looking for this song for a long time. It just so happens to be my all time favorite and when I heard it, I was transported back to a simpler, less stressful time. Listened to it 3 times...cried 3 times...Thank You and may God Bless you!
I already have this track written into my will to be played at my funeral!! This is my all time fave song, just wish Bobby would put Axe back on the road and come to the UK. This song is dedicated to my gorgeous wife Lisa xx

Can anybody help me out with a song called Just A Pair of Strangers (at least I think that's the title) by a group called Axe?
I don't think it's the same Axe as this band and they might be from Central New York.
It's a mid 80s rock and roll tune - maybe a little Southern rockish.
