  • sooo....SCIENCE!

  • i know what i'm doing when my mom tells me to throw away the old microwave >:)

  • yo that crazy

  • I have the jar and matches, I just need a microwave I can destroy, NOW! I wanna do this soooooo bad!

  • If they used a small tea light candle under the glass it was the metal around the wax of the candle that did that.

  • pre sure its not the match but that metal foil

  • wow

  • may I use part of this footage in a video I'm making?

  • @kokogirl42 yea, go for it.

  • #LOL

  • #LOL

  • I never want to do that by myself and never tried, never will

But you in the party, it brings out the entertainment :D

  • is the cast of jersey shore in the background?

  • "That's what it did on that video on the Internet."

    WHICH ONE? THIS ONE? #LOL

  • LOL Disco party in the microwave !

  • learn chemistry first. a combustion reaction where there is a small supply of oxygen creates carbon monoxide, which is toxic as it is an odourless and colourless gas

  • @alen132465 Whats that gas that comes out of your cars silencer?

  • talk about a badass fire cracker

  • dude dont do that its dangerous

  • Nice

  • cool

  • It's just super heated air or plasma it's actualy what lightning is so u have seemed to catch lightning in a jar

  • It takes a lot of heat to melt glass...

  • man the flame would burn out because of the small oxygen supply in the cup, this is FAKE!!!

  • @JesseRothrock how the HELL could this be "Fake"

i understand what your saying but its some uneven glass in a fucked up nasty ass microwave, i know there is air in it AND if it was fake (which it isnt) they would have spent some serious cash on movie editing software and would be totally stupid to do for just one one-minute video.

  • that is the carbon dioxide from the burnt our match causing nuclear fission.

  • @dipu94321 "nuclear fission"? seriously? that's retarded.

  • @dipu94321 Yes, because all you need for nuclear fission is a match, a glass, and a microwave. No biggie or anything. I bet you pronounce nuclear "nu-que-ler"

  • i pronounce nuclear as new-clear.and fuck u

  • @dipu94321 hahahahahaha

  • its not he match it is the tin foil

  • Yea tin foil doesnt matter, Done the same thing with tape, its the fire

  • Lol. It wasn't the match. If you look in the first three seconds or so, you'll see that the match is stuck into a small pile of tin-foil. But great anyways.

  • it still does make plasma, just a normal match in a microwave

  • ..or the glass just got too hot and broke .-. XDDD

  • uhm... plasma is an atom that is so hot it threw off all of its electrons, leaving a nucleus to run around and have fun on its own. i doubt thats happening here... anyway, exactly what is happening here?

  • plasma is a term which is also used for the fire ball like stuff in a microwave.

    not literal plasma.

I have no idea who started calling it that though.

  • Lol you guys have no life. (In a good way.)

  • lmao "yeahhh make that noise" haha this was so cool!

  • thats what they do on "is it a good idea to microwave this?"

  • ummm that looks like the microwave that those ppl on "is it a good idea to microwave this?" used ^^

  • you can do the same thing with an acrlyic glass cup but the acrylic glass cup will not shatter. in addition, plasma, superheated air you had seen in the video inside the glass cup, is a toxic ammonia gas.

  • Comment removed

  • what I was trying to say is plasma produces a toxic ammonia gas. plasma itself is not toxic. the gases it produce can. it is best to have proper ventilation before opening the microwave to let out the ammonia gas that overtime a small amount of ammonia gas can be toxic.

  • ammonia is not CH4 u retard

  • yeayhah make that noise ....... rofl

  • Furthermore, you need not use a match, the carbon released by the burning wood is the catalyst. The energy causes ions in the air to bounce back and forth, breaking and reconnecting at high speeds, which in turn excites the gas (similar to what happens in the grape-plasma experiment, except we're using a gas and not a solid 'substrate')

The temperature could be anywhere from 1500 degrees F to 4000+, so be careful. You can easily destroy your microwave with this.

  • i think if u read th description, ther tryin 2 destroy it lol

  • It is a plasma, or the fourth state of matter. You know, solid, liquid, and gas? Well, Plasma is the next one.

Nothing is 'burning' per se, so much as a ball of superheated gas is collecting at the top of the glass spraying off electrons. The reaction continues until you turn the microwave off (or the magnetron fries) because electrons in the air react with the nearly pure proton ball floating around.

The gases released in this are O3 and NO2, toxic to humans, but not enough to kill you.

  • holy shit fire ball xD

  • thats fuckin bad ass

  • did you guys just decide to do this at some party?

  • also, the gas is highly poisonous, so don't breathe it in.

  • ......shit looked like it was splittin atoms........thats how we won WW2 buncha scientists got drunk and threw shit in the microwave

  • lol they didnt av microwaves in ww2

  • Yeah, they dropped a microwave on Hiroshima...okay, so it had a nuclear weapon attached

  • dude off to the microwave

  • See this is what guns in the future should shoot as ammo.

  • lol how much would a plastic glass last?

  • plastic glass? lol

  • is bam margera there?

  • I wonder what mum said when she got back and saw her microwave ruined?

  • LOL

  • I know this. Once the glass asborb more heat in the oven, it will explode. But this video is intresting.

  • You guys are so crazy xD

  • lol "make that noise"

  • All it is is making plasma

  • lol stone-o-rific

  • Happy freaking Fourth of July 3 weeks early, America. Remember kids: Don't try this at home.

  • Aw, i love giving myself cancer!

    lol, cool vid.

  • AWESOME COLORS LOL

  • that was awsome!!!

    5 stars

  • This has to be the best video I have scene.

  • That's a dirty microwave.

  • thats really sweet!!

  • Why did god gave us microwaves you ask? theres the answere in this vid lol

  • haha thats funny as hell when hes talkin about the glass breakin the glass explodes :P

  • its not his godamit

  • lol i know wut video dey are talkin about

  • Fuckin' cool!

  • i wanna try with like two matches and a grape and sumthin flameabble in a microwave

  • OMG DO IT LOL

  • Wow, looks pretty cool :D

  • Don't do this at home, this shit is very dangerous. Superheated air changing in to a plasma gas, quite possibly a toxic gas as well, and more than likely radioactive too! And then remember someone in your family will probably cook their next meal in there.

  • FYI This is a microwave we found next to a dumpster, it is not one anyone cooks food in. We did not do this inside, we got an extension cord, took the microwave outside and then stood about 15 ft. away which is why the camera is shaky. I know it can be dangerous but we're reckless college students, what can you expect.

  • Sure thing man, not pissing on your bonfire, knock yourselves out. It looks great and its fun, I know!

Just don't want any young kids doing this in there family kitchen. Glad you explained you guys did this outside and to precautions.

  • LOL!!!

  • @phmontag fucking assho. that cooda bin a hobos microwave you meanie. >:(

  • @Danni4815162342 plasma gas is not toxic, its just ionised air, basically the same as lightening.

if you believe that, you might as well say that the air is poisonous.

2nd, plasma isnt radioactive, for reasons above, the reason it glows is because of the release of energy, like putting a piece of metal in a fire.

3rd the only reason this would harm someones food, is if the glass fragments got in it.

  • @timothyp2009 plazma is basically like fire its dangerous in teh wrong context

  • @Danni4815162342 I'm afraid plasma isn't a gas - it's effectively the state of matter above gas. It's what happens when the atoms themselves start to break apart (I think), so it isn't radioactive or toxic. Having said that, it's still bloody dangerous stuff since it's so hot and it gives off vast amounts of UV light, which can cause skin cancer with excessive/prolonged exposure. It's the same reason welders wear masks - you'd be surprised how much UV a welding arc gives off.

  • have u ever heard of a little cancerous thing called... RADIATION????

u can get a desease by doing that..

  • Damn, so microwaves can create plasma. Guess some wodners of the universe can be foudn right at home.

  • gotta love ozone and UV radiation.

  • STROBELIGHT STROBE LIGHT!!!! lol

  • ooo pretty colours :)

  • the air becomes superheated and turns into a plasma.... but you gotta be careful cus the gas that results is toxic

  • dude thats awsome lolol

  • funny dude almost like witha grape

  • ...yeah..?

  • it looked like a bunch of little nuclear explosions and stuff, kinda like mushroom clouds. hahahahahha thats good stuff, haha

  • isnt plasma like radioactiv when you touch it YOU BECOME LIKE SPIDERMAN X-MEN ETC.. SO YALL TRY TOUCHING IT

  • plasma can kill u

  • wow no shit DIMWIT

  • mmmmm plasma mmmmmm toxic goodness

  • holy crap thats awesome!

  • dude thats awesome

  • WOW plasma in a jar...thats freakin awesome you know how hot it takes to melt glass Like 1500 degrees or so

  • damn, even the glass melted...

    5/5

  • It's like a little atomic bomb...

  • awsome

  • Whoa, so weird.

  • yiggya make that noise yeeasa hehehehehehehhehehe

  • those glass pieces are an awesome souvenir :-)

  • cool, plasma

  • put a whole crab in the microwave. and get behind something. seriously.

  • next time....do it with a bigger glass item

  • put some water in the microwave somewhere tho so you wont wreck it

  • Of course your doing this at someones party, like i do lmao! that was just a match an a glass? i love microwave shitlmao

  • SOOOO FREAKING AWESOME!

  • does tht acctualy wrk?

  • what does it look like

  • YOU GOT EYES

  • dam man that SWEET

  • hehehe nice one... well try a sealed quartz tube filled with Argon an Suphur... then you'll see the sun :)

  • holly crap,thats fuckin sweet.

  • would that mess up the microwave? i dont want my mom to kill me. this match thing is really tempting

  • hahahahahah!! that was frickin sweet dude!!

  • Great mov

  • yeaa make that noise!

  • LOL... coz thats what happened in the video.. on the internet!! CLASSIC!! :D

  • that was so funny!

  • Ha Terriffoc is hecka funny! Im about to do it right now!

  • The best part is at the end, some girl starts to say "What are you guys doing?" How did she miss the last minute?

  • There's gonna be a lot of broken glass in microwaves all across America today....and one here in Japan in about five minutes :-)

  • get in closer next time you fucking pussy

  • Buy a tripod.

  • Yes. Also, clean your micorowave :)

  • They're lighting the match to release the gasses in the match head, and then they're putting the glass over it to trap the gasses. Then, the foil at the bottom that the match is mounted in starts an arcing reaction, which combined with the gas and the fuel in the match stick creates fire and the tiny little bit of plasma (the glowing light) at the top of the glass.

Any physicists feel free to correct me :)

  • the glass breaks do to its coefficient of expansion. basically glass doesnt like to be heated fast or cooled down slow parts of it expand faster then other and you get cracks or in this case with super fast heating shattering.

  • A-la ALIEN 3 o__O The critter jumps out of the molded led, gets hit with a blast of cold water and POOF!

Also what happened to my rear window in my car. It was below zero and I got into the car. Turned the defroster on, closed the door and it shattered.

  • cooled down? i don't get it. how come it kept on re-igniting? any einstein out there care to explain?

  • There was a ball of superheated gas in the glass from the match. It created a ball of plasma because of the radiation used to heat things in the microwave. The plasma heated the glass extremely quickly, and the gas under the glass also expanded very rapidly. It likely exploded from the heat though - they said it had melted the glass also. Glass melts anywhere between 900 and 3180 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Waaaaaaaat?..........

  • "'cause that's what happened on the video on the internet."

-______- Same thing those kids who made the bombs via instructions on the internet.

Eh, it's cool though. Mythbuster's type stuff. Just be careful a'ight? Don't need some fuckin' Brit comin' in here and saying all Americans are stupid because some people hurt themselves.

It's youtube folks - happens all the time.

  • Anyone know how this works? Whats burning after the o2 is used up :-/ (which is of course, why it goes out to start with)

  • Hold the camera steady is good complaint. Hold camera!!

  • AWESOMENESS!! YOU ROCK!!! i want to do that!!

  • why does everything have to be about race that has nothing to do with anything, what a wierdo lol.

  • wow youre so racist lol

  • dude

  • I guess you're first then, King Dumbass the Unique.

  • They should throw a few BIGOTS into the microwave. At least the bigots chose to be that way.

  • I hear trolls glow pink and their eyes melt first when you hit them with microwaves. (Trolls are a minority, right?)

  • nappy headed trolls

  • Just ask your mom what a few heated minorities feel like, I am sure she will say like your dad only bigger.

  • omg it doesn't stop =o

    coool...

  • HOLD THE GOD DAMN CAMERA STEADY!

  • i would have cleaned the microwave before putting it on the internets

  • LOL god only knows what else they were microwaving fore' that

  • "...that's what it did in the video, on the internet!"

Proof in any instance that what you are doing may not be a good idea.

  • OOOO fire. His mum must be so proud. I think someone is in need of fulltime employment.

  • oly shit

  • Najs

  • yay

  • i think this is called st. elmo's fire or something

  • Not even close tard bot.
