  • Probably the uselessness video yet on youtube about lightning.

  • @bereamikebassmaster : Don't like it, don't comment!

  • i fell of my chair lol

  • I love storms but I got hit by it 2 (lighting) and I was in the CAR!!!!!!! :'( SCARY AS HELL:'(

  • that wasnt close. That was a one second time difference- abt 1000 feet.

  • @awesomelightning It's not as close as some of the most respected lightning strike video's here on YouTube, I know, but still I wasn't too happy to be around the windows this close, that's all.

  • @Dutch3DMaster true. and I've even seen vids on here of lightning actually zapping a peson. I am careful of what I click now XD it was VEEEEEEEEEEERY disturbing XD

  • aw man if only the side of the window wasnt in the way

  • Godslastering! XD

  • the thunder was scary :(

  • Cool...i think

  • maybe from where he was at it was close

  • ik hoorde je wel "JESUS"

  • @Augurk6 Vandaar ook dat ik excuses maak in de videobeschrijving...

  • you didnt curse??

  • I do, but "Jesus" in Dutch has a different tone, listen to the video, it's really there :P.

  • Damn, this is the Purmer-North. Not?!

I have a lighting-show taken at the 26th of May and this day there were at least 75.000 thunderstrikes in Holland!

    later

  • This is filmed in the Purmer-Noord indeed (Nice job recognizing it :D).

If I recall correctly I have a lot of thunderstorm photo's from that day, was a very active storm, there was no way in missing an oppurtinity to take a photograph from some awesome strikes :).

  • Your awsome! =D

  • one time I had left a metal shovel standing up in my backyard then a huge thunderstorm came that night. the next morning I come down the hallway from my room and a huge bolt of lightning just nails the shovel and I was only like 8 or 9 I cant remember and I screamed then my dad came running out into the living room with his 45 I'm like dad it was just lightning it scared me. lol

  • I can remember that, when I was 7 or 8 lightning struck the chimney from a house nearby where my grandma used to live.

Allthough there was like a kilometer distance, it scared the hell out of me and my brother.

A couple of days later we went to visit my grandma and me and my brother could see the destructive power of mother nature.

The lead plating around the walls of the chimney were molted together with the bricks and some metal parts of the chimney.

Since then, I respect Mother Nature...

  • Lmao His 45 ...

  • I don't see your point ?

  • once, i was in my room trying to sleep when a freaking strong thunderstorm was going on. (freaking strong, for germany at least).

that was the time i was most frightened of a t-storm ever. suddenly, outside it was all illuminated green and the thunder was SO loud my heart jumped up to my head!

  • dat was geinig

  • DAMN! wait.. that was at noon? it was pitch black!! talk about a nasty storm....

  • Yea, it was frightening to see it coming, allthough I'd never expected it to become this dark.

  • I would have one word on my mind...supercell.

  • Supercell??

There are no supercells in the Netherlands!!

  • I think were not far away from actually having supercells, it seems as if the weather is going through some kind of cycle and is increasing in strength every year.

    But to give an example:

We don't really have tornado's here, but we have "windhozen" and they are reported more and more in the last couple of years.

  • Mja, en Waterhozen. Alleen noem ik die liever Waterspouts. Klinkt leuker =P:P

    AND we got Waterspouts! 8D:D

  • this may me jump out of my skin as well

  • holy fucking shit!!! were you scared!!!

  • Yes I was :P.

Most lightning storms pass without nearby strikes.

I was a little disappointed at first because in the original movie file (a MJPEG) there almost wasn't a strike visible.

After rendering it in MPG it suddenly became clearly visible haha :P.

  • very cool green sky white lightning XD cool.

  • that was louder that a 22 rifle id say

  • I can't judge haha. I have never heared a gun shot in real :).

  • one time lightening struck right in my dads freakin property... it sounds like 4 sonic consecutive bangs, that sound alot like beating tin with a metal bat, then a huge roar. its really freaky lol

  • The Thunder was like a bomb

  • Don't forget that the microphone sucks, even though it's relatively good compared to my digital camera.

It has no capability of setting a maximum audio level or something so loud sounds can easily cause sound buffer overflow kind off effects.

  • Lighting is pure raw energy. It can get up to 30,000 degrees Farenhight. It is so cool. NO generator made by us can remotly compare to the power of lighting

  • 100% true :)

  • tering man!

    maar wel netjes

ik zat nu net ook te filmen want het zit hier nu te onweren

maarja minder geluk dan jij heb heb alleen maar wat flitsen en missers en geen harde knallen =P

  • woooow!

    i would've cursed aswell!

    lol

  • that was cool, but you should look at my works bomb video and comment it

  • nah i have seen more closer than this one..

  • You're absolutely right. This was the closest one for me to record on video till a better one comes up.

The title is only like this because it scared me big time (the recording of the thunder doesn't do it good, it was extremely loud in real life).

But once again, there are closer ones here on YouTube.

  • damn

  • lightning is awsome

  • Waneer was dit? ik ken me maar 1 shelfcloud herinerren in NH en dat was op 16 juli, anyway nice bang ^^

  • dude,i've been closer to a lightning stike

  • I've been too once while at the hockeyclub (lightning hit "something" extremely nearby) but there wasn't a camera which registered the strike.

Let's say it was the closest strike I recorded on "video." ;)

  • omg on the ridar scale thats about 8.4!

  • Ehm, come again ?:)

  • dude...is the door open or something?

  • At the right of the picture you can see a part of my hand holding my PDA near the opened window (PDA acting as a second microphone).

The sound on my digital photocamera is (typically for digital photocameras) extremely bad, has auto volume reduction and has a 22050 Hz frequency range.

  • That was really close. In 2005 a lightning hit the ground about 10 meters in front of me when I went from railway to my car. That was really shocking! 5*

  • I love it when it's so close that you hear a sizzle and snap! :D

  • That sound!

  • Alittle to far next time make ssure you guys get somone tolding something.. that attracts lightning, and stand a cm away :) thats VERY close

  • yay!!

  • that was awsome i had a simalar encounter on my b day

  • wow ... thunder was goood

  • Dat was een zieke storm die dag! Mooi gefilmd trouwens man!

  • Wanneer was dat dan? Kan me niet herinneren

  • @ 200twistatwista: We all curse and it's a big problem!

  • Tering..... wat een facking harde knal

  • I remember that day it was as dark as it at night! lol...

  • Great sound quality! lol sounds like a freaking band inside a cathedral, lol you get the great CLAPING sound echoing like all hell on the loose.

  • Its supposed to be noon? They be some dark clouds!

  • We all curse it's no problemo.Wow!that was a quick cool white Cg Lightning Strike, you can see the streamers at the very left part of the video.Nice gr8 catch.
