People convert to Auto because they are cheaper to maintain in the long run. With that much power, you need a beefed up tranny and a $4,000 triple disk clutch that isn't going to last very long.
So it's cheaper to get a beefed up Auto and torque converter in the long run. But if you don't race a lot, then it's not as critical to convert to auto.

@TheSmoonge you forgot to mentioen that the tiny 6 in any supra making over 1000 hp has a life span of about 5 or 6 runs on a track then the engine it toats, and even with easy street driving has a life span of about 5000 miles then its DEAD. Put the same amount of money and level of mods in a GM V8 and you get 2000 to 2500 hp, and an engine that will last. modded versions of LSx series of engines have been tested by Mercury Racing Corp lasts hundreds of hours at FULL THROTTLE.
@TheSmoonge like i said its no prob to get 1000 to 1300 hp from a supra, but that is a waste of money and the engine will last about 4 or 5 runs at the most. my Blown NRE 572 with 2550 bhp will eat alive any supra you can bring to me, and i run race after race without having to rebuild the motor every week. Beginners learn to race with frail tiny jap cars, then when its time to grow up and get to REAL horsepower and track numbers below 7's down to the 4's it will not be found it a jap car.
@Topfueltrooper Well, since I moved down to Florida in 2005, I've seen 3 supras on the side of the road broken down. I haven't seen one corvette or viper on the side of the road broken down yet. Like I said, I don't prefer one to the other, it's just that Supras do seem to be quicker with the same horsepower. Maybe it's the gearing or whatnot; I have no clue. Either way, I would love to have any of those cars. I used to drive a 350Z, bought in 2006 and loved it. Not sure what to buy next.

@kageryu311 Usually a Supra making that much rwtq, the rwhp is significantly higher. The spread is much wider and it is peaky at best and not long and flat. Check out the GTR R1000 dyno sheet and it's awhp and tq. It is incredible numbers, but for only about 500-1,000 rpms.
@Marc99GT With all the torque this car makes and the way its set up, this vette would have massive difficulty putting power to pavement without full slicks. Good thing is the wheel wells for the C6 Z06 can hold 345s. As far as the GTR R1K even with its powerband it would put more power to the ground than this car would. And even some of those Supras making less torque would beat this car on the strip.
@kageryu311 I agree for this particular car. Some suspension work might be needed. There are plenty of cars running 7s on drag radials so we know it is not the tires. There are plenty of ZO6s in the 9s on drag radials. The 9 second LPE ZR1 does it on drag radials. I'm sure he was stabbing the throttle also to get the tires to spin. If he rolled into the throttle it would have launched much better. The GTR definitely has a clear advantage with AWD on the street though.

Not a ZO6. They and the ZR1 all come in a manual. That's a sick car, nice build. Z06 comes with 20x12 in the rear and 19x10 in the front.

@TheSmoonge like i said its no prob to get 1000 to 1300 hp from a supra, but that is a waste of money and the engine will last about 4 or 5 runs at the most. my Blown NRE 572 with 2550 bhp will eat alive any supra you can bring to me, and i run race after race without having to rebuild the motor every week. Beginners learn to race with frail tiny jap cars, then when its time to grow up and get to REAL horsepower and track numbers below 7's down to the 4's it will not be found it a jap car.

@Topfueltrooper Well, since I moved down to Florida in 2005, I've seen 3 supras on the side of the road broken down. I haven't seen one corvette or viper on the side of the road broken down yet. Like I said, I don't prefer one to the other, it's just that Supras do seem to be quicker with the same horsepower. Maybe it's the gearing or whatnot; I have no clue. Either way, I would love to have any of those cars. I used to drive a 350Z, bought in 2006 and loved it. Not sure what to buy next.

@kageryu311 Usually a Supra making that much rwtq, the rwhp is significantly higher. The spread is much wider and it is peaky at best and not long and flat. Check out the GTR R1000 dyno sheet and it's awhp and tq. It is incredible numbers, but for only about 500-1,000 rpms.

@Marc99GT With all the torque this car makes and the way its set up, this vette would have massive difficulty putting power to pavement without full slicks. Good thing is the wheel wells for the C6 Z06 can hold 345s. As far as the GTR R1K even with its powerband it would put more power to the ground than this car would. And even some of those Supras making less torque would beat this car on the strip.

@kageryu311 I agree for this particular car. Some suspension work might be needed. There are plenty of cars running 7s on drag radials so we know it is not the tires. There are plenty of ZO6s in the 9s on drag radials. The 9 second LPE ZR1 does it on drag radials. I'm sure he was stabbing the throttle also to get the tires to spin. If he rolled into the throttle it would have launched much better. The GTR definitely has a clear advantage with AWD on the street though.

4L80E is a bad mutha. 1100+ rwhp and overdrive for the highway, incredible. Putting it to the ground will be tough, but you don't need 1/2 of it to smoke most cars on the road.
