I looked at Your Teacher . com, and it says you have to pay money for this! I'm not trying to spam; I don't own the website I am about to refer to, but if you want math help, I highly suggest you go to Khan Academy. They have easy to understand videos, and it's all free! I just watched one of their math videos earlier, and I understand and remember every bit of it. Just look it up, it should be easy to spot.

I recommend this excellent Math channel: ( Mathmatchpoint ) to everyone who wants to become good at Math. He is going to teach you Math the EASY WAY, from the basic to the advanced topics. The great thing is that his videos are categorized within playlists. It is easy to know which video to watch next. This was the least I could do for him (let others know about his videos). Thanks to him, I got 97% on my Math test.

@yourteachermathelp you said at 3:08 the second equation was(-2a+8b=28). But how did it become 8b? You multiplied both sides by -2 so (-2)(4b) = -8b not 8b. So it should be -3b = 39 after you add the equations. So b= -13 (not 3). And a= -168. Correct me if i'm wrong I'm just a 6th Grader. And also please like this so this will be on the Highest Rated Comments and This will be seen easily.

Change the subtract (-) to add sign (+)

And change only the second sign to neg -4b

just do not forget to change the two sign to the opposite

It is easier to add then subtract sign number.

Example: 8-5=3 you get the same answer as saying 8+-5=3

I dont understand Why you add (-2) to the second equation before figuring out the first equation then doing so allows you to figure out the whole thing?!?!?!?

Just looking at this to me 2a +5b = 11 means that a = 3 and b =1, but for some reason you pull a (-2) out of nowhere and say this will make it easier to figure out. WHERE DOES THE (-2) come from!? why (-2)..... It doesnt make sense!!!!! it's like you know the answer and so you use the (-2) from the beggining?

@landoncrosby It does make sense. The "a" of the second equation is the same as the "a" of the first equation. The "a" of the first equation has a "2" in front of it. So, to get rid of that "2a", he put a "-2" in front of the second "a". It allowed him to cancel both 2a and -2a (because they are opposite). It is like saying you have 2 dollars.....then you have a 2 dollars dept........at the end, you have 0 dollars left (2 dollars and -2 dollars cancelled each other) see?

2x=4

that means that

4=4 {i know, it seems useless}

very very simple, so do this

if 4=4, then (4)=(4). so if (4)/2=(4)/2, then (2x)/2=(4)/2. therefore, 2x/2=4/2, x2/2=4/2, x=2

seems simple, but this is the basics for solving any algebra problem!

2x=14

(2x)=(14)

(2x)/2=(14)/2

Its Algebra its Elimination one of the three ways you could solve an equation like this. The other two are graphing and substitution. Its in the somewhat middle/later chapters of the Algebra book if you have one

It's as they say, the (-2) is just a tool to simplify an expression - by not altering the value. it's like 14/64 - it's equal to 7/32, but still, I seem to get a 2 out of nowhere to divide BOTH the denominator and divider to get a simplified ratio (in this case). It's just how the rules work. My best advice to you is to get a local college course on a suiting level and practice - it will become clearer when you are used to the thinking pattern...
