@svensverigeqx I wasn't just comparing this one song, I said Mesiner's voice is better than any of the other Eagles. His "Take It To The Limit" blows away anything that Henley or Frey has done as an Eagle.
In my opinion Meisner had the best voice but was overshadowed by the jerks (Henley and Frey). Try and Love Again was the best song on the Hotel California LP. After he left, The Eagles should have changed their name to The Egos. Basically that is what Henley and Frey are, two big egos.
Wow This is the best song from this album that never made it to the radio. Randy Meisner should have had more lead vocal spots than he did. His voice is just as good as Henley and Frey's maybe better. I love this song along with Train Leaves Here This Morning
@dponzi56 It sure does! The 70's represented some of the very best in music. I must correct myself on this song. It was written by Gelen Frey, not Randy Meisner. I could swear the vocal sounds like Meisner though. The credits on the LP say Frey. It's interesting to note Jackson Browne wrote several songs that are on this LP.
@randlec6 , that definitely is Randy singing. I don't know who wrote it, but Randy was my favorite Eagle, and when he quit the Eagles, I stopped listening to them. It just turned into the Don and Glen show after that. Actually, they started downhill with One of these nights, in my opinion. They started moving away from what they did so well. It was a shame. I think that's why Bernie left in the first place.
@dponzi56 Randy was my favorite also. I love his solo work. I thought the band really dropped off the earth when they came out with The Long Run LP. I love One of These Nights. Take to the Limit is good even though it was played on the radio to the point of wearing the tape out. Too Many Hands is the best on One of These Nights and top notch Meisner work.
@dponzi56 You got that right. One Of These Nights was the last album before they crashed. Since Bernie and Randy left, it's been nothing but a money-music machine that has been getting fat and fatter for years. I liked Bill Szymczyk's pristine tracks and layering, but that sound destroyed what had established the Eagles as primarily a vocal band, under Glyn Johns.
The best of the Eagles was a combination of what came from the Stone Canyon Band, the Flying Burrito Bros. and Linda Ronstadt.
@dponzi56 yeah, you're right about that. It's getting worse when Joe Walsh was recruited. They got lost in the city light and big pile of money( too bad, most people loved them that way too !) : (
This gem of a song was written by Randy Meisner, an original member of The Eagles. It was written in 1972 just before the first Eagles album hit the record stores!
Meisner was the bass player. I was just a kid then and I can tell you the music today SUCKS big time if you care to compare the music of the 60's and 70's!
Nope this was never stolen by The Eagles, they did this at the end of 1971, the year I graduated from high school. N*Sync weren't even a premise. I do know that Toad the Wet Spocket did it awhile back, but with pernission.
The debut album had 3 hit songs, this was the best song on the album i always felt

@JohnPrince80 Check out Randy's duet with Juice Newton on their cover of Neil Young's Heart of Gold. It is great!

The Eagles are my favourite band, so I know almost every song of theirs. But I think this is their saddest song. And that's why it's my favourite.

This was when The Eagles were their absolute best. Obviously they went on to extraordinary success but this was their creative best.
