  • harper is french, english and native for shit

  • I voted conservative because I liked their logo better.

  • Its amazing to me how vicious the left can be in its hate for the right while proclaiming the universal values that of course they will leave the conservatives to preserve and fight for when the time comes.

  • @zzzak123 What an ignorant comment based on absolutely nothing but misguided opinion. Maybe you should have a talk with an intelligent, educated person from the left and have them explain what they believe in and why. Once you've done this, then you can intelligently and coherently debate why you think the ideology of the right is superior to that of the left. Until then, I suggest you refrain from commenting because you come across as an idiot.

  • if it was a joke that did not hit so close to home i would laugh I never here u mention Senator Jack Austin in your skits, or is that the list out of your networks reach after did not he start the dealing with China, or his uranium price fixing

  • The only thing Stephen Harper cares about is staying in power. I predict that, come next election, he's still saying that we're in an "economic recovery" and that voting for anybody but him will create chaos.

  • @Wallyrus igantieff, didnt get elected, moved away didnt get elected there, cameback and failed for the third time, I think iggy cares about power just a little bit more.

  • @zeratul1356 The word "conservative" means restriction, supression or control. Conservatives don't require a smaller government because they want to control you LESS. Democacy is a lot of work, and it's work that Stephen Harper is trying to avoid. Threatening people and making them afraid is the cheapest and most effective way to make them "conform". In movies and literature the conservatives are the bag guys for a good reason.

  • @Wallyrus you should never base politics on movies, because movies are not real life.

  • Im perosnally a conservative but I do think that every poltical group are led by crooks. There is absolutely no "good party" and dont let those ads make you think otherwise.Harper is bad, but do you think Layton or Ignatieff would do any better?I think not.

  • NDP loves rub and tugs ;)

  • Do you want your kid in jail? If so, vote conservative.

  • @Uncle5cary Really. Your a dumbass. Liberals are to frickin soft on Canada's Criminals. and NDP's are lead by a pedophile. It was the liberals that removed Capital punishment though we should still have it!

  • @UEGXKotor Why should we still have capital punishment? You know there are numerous studies that prove the crime rate is higher in regions where the death penalty is used. But of course, nobody listens to studies anymore unless it proves the point they're trying to make.

  • @UEGXKotor Do you think the cons (or any other politician) will tell you the real plan? Frankly, violent criminals are tiny percentage of the population. Do you think all the cops, prison guards, lawyers and social workers will quit once the violent offenders are locked up?

  • @UEGXKotor And someone was soft on your education.

Why is capital punishment such a good thing? It's nothing more than revenge. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

  • To all my beloved fellow Canadians, you deserve better. Go out and vote on Election Day. Change is in your hands. The destiny of Canada is in your hands. Whether you're a New Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, or Green, go out and vote. Vote for the truth. Vote for the one that will represent the will of the people in your riding and not just sit on their asses waiting for the next election. Vote!

  • Rick Mercer is a partisan fruitcake collecting a government cheque.

  • @pwnyourpuzzhole How is Rick a Partisan? he gives sh!t to both sides.

  • anyone debating that harper is a bad pm is a moron. you need to read a book. if you can give me an economic reason why he is a bad pm ( well, worse than the opposition) i will vote for who you say. read some milton friedman/ go get a degree then come talk to me.

and if youre majoring in global development or politics, your iq is less than 60 and you should not be allowed to vote.

  • @Theperfectlifechanel notwithstanding the fact that his government is rife with corruption and deception, of course.

  • @Tasselhof of course goverment is corrupt. it is inherently creating distortions in the economy. thats not the issue, the issue is that steven harper would create fewer distortions than any other pm that could be elected.

  • @Theperfectlifechanel Distortions in the economy??? Hahahaha that has to be the greatest sentence ever: "government is corrupt because it is inherently creating distortions in the economy". Seriously, if you are supporting Harper because he will "create fewer distortions in the economy" you need to go back to school. I never thought I would say this, but this youtube discussion might be a bit over your head. And please dont vote.

  • @Theperfectlifechanel Judging by your logic, you clearly have a "degree" of the highest stature. Those who oppose SH's spending on military and prisons and his unsurpassed level of secrecy are clearly "morons." Those who have differing opinions than your own should be belittled and labeled as uneducated troglodytes. Why don't you run for office?

I, on the other hand, see SH's fiscal policies as having many strengths, but I prefer complete transparency in my government. But I'm a moron.

  • @Wheelcranker dude dont bother getting offended by this guy, we can all see how absolutely retarded he is. I was reading over his comments and they are absolutely hilarious. Did you read the one about the distortions in the economy? Try to get him to write more of that shit.

  • If you want worse health care, no arts, full prisons and a massive military debt. Vote for that "best" PM, Steven Harper. Oh yes, and don't expect him to disclose anything he does. "The Canadian people," as he likes to say, must truly embrace "ignorance is bliss."

  • @Wheelcranker if you want a degraded beyond operational military, debts from cancellation fees like the 1993 fiasco where the liberals cancelled the helicopter program and we paid 500m in cancellation fees, hunters and LEGAL firearm owners to have their rights trampled, vote liberal. We are a huge nation and we need a military to defend it, when will people see this?

  • Harper has been the best PM we have had in some time. All the Liberals can offer are losers like Cretien, Dion and now Ignatieff!! Talk about your embarrassments! I guess when you are young and stupid, or a new Canadian who is trying to take advantage of Canada, you vote Liberal; the rest of us will be voting for Harper!

  • Harper is such a douche. What a disgrace to Canadian politics. Even when he was in opposition, his shrill hypocritical tantrums were an embarrASSment.

  • bahahahahahah

  • There are certain types of control we can get along with, but in the end, the government should be there just to make sure the economy is in check and that we all have jobs. It is up to you what job you have. I like to work. The Conservatives saved jobs.

But I have one question for you. Do you really think gun control will stop crime?

  • @TheBattleSCAR According to every police service in the country, it is.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBattleSCAR. I, for one, have never voted Liberal. . . but are you actually arguing that Hitler, Stalin and Mousellini were even slightly liberal?!

And you're saying that increasing the number of people who own guns, designed to kill other people, will result in FEWER shootings?!

  • @Wallyrus Look at history of gun restriction Wallyrus, it doesnt work. This nation was founded on hunting and trapping, we have a right to own guns.

  • @slednecks17 If it doesn't work, then, I suppose you have a lot of neighbours who own assault rifles?

Requiring that someone let the government know that they've bought a gun isn't the same thing as "restricting" or taking away their right to own the gun. I don't understand how you get from A to B. If having to fill out a form, registering it, is enough to make you not want to buy the gun then you probably shouldn't be buying it in the first place.

  • @Wallyrus How many criminals do you know who register their firearms before facilitating a crime with it?

There is non restricted, restricted, and prohibited. The government has already outlawed the majority of firearms that sport shooters and average people would have fun with, such as anything which can have a full auto capability. What is next? Keep slowly taking away more and more rights till everything is prohibited? Something is added to the list every year.. just a matter of time.

  • @slednecks17 but what's the problem with registering them? Is it just too much work?

  • @anniem44 I have no problem registering, and neither do most people. But people who own are afraid the govt such as the NDP or Libs will implement stricter firearm laws which will only make things difficult for us. We are legal firearm owners, not criminals, and we dont deserve to be slandered as such by the ndp or libs.

  • @Wallyrus The liberal party isn't liberal.

  • "Anybody who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."

-Douglas Adams, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

  • Any society that rewards a silver-tongue before hard work and skill level is doomed to failure -- or tyranny THEN failure. The guiding principle of the job market, "It's not what you know but *who you know", is the problem. . . and it ought to be the Conservative Party's new campaign slogan.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBattleSCAR. That is to say, while you may be right wing there are other dimensions to The Conservative Party's politics to take into account here. The situation is more nuanced than simply left-wing/right-wing, as the Cons. would have you believe.

  • @TheBattleSCAR. I don't disagree with you on any point except one. The Conservative Party isn't *really* conservative, they're elitist. If they were really interested in creating the most fruitful capitalist competition possible they'd spend their time levelling the playing field instead of reserving opportunity for those with cash to burn.

  • @mendelbot. Conservative elitists seek to undermine this competition by tipping the scales in their favour, by holding education and healthcare further out of reach from those too "lazy" to have been born into the better social class. They make even entering the race a lifelong project for the majority; effectively disqualifying them. The fact that the elite few are only WHO they are because they got a head start in life undermines the success of our society.

  • @Wallyrus I am very right-wing. The reason I have chosen to be right-wing is because they stand up for the man who works hard everyday. It isn't about a head start, and it never has been. Seeing people on welfare that make more than I do sickens me, and I am the one paying them. Either get a job or live on the street, but it shouldn't be the way it is. The middle class is being fucked over big time.

  • @TheBattleSCAR \\\\"The middle class is being fucked over big time."////

. . . and yet our current, conservative, government hasn't even acknowledged this as a problem! Conservatives are all about control and the "middle class" is just another fuzzy-grey area for them to find threatening. Gay people, immigrants, women who want to do traditionally male jobs -- if everybody would just get back into their little boxes!

I bet you Stephen Harper beats off to "Leave It To Beaver".

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBattleSCAR Conservative politicians try to control peoples lives to make them and, by extension, the economy predictable. Non-Conservatives want to control distractions, like crime, so that creativity and skill can be free to drive economic prosperity.

How can you criticize airport security and the screwing of the middle-class and then, in the same breath, say that you think the Conservatives are the party suited to fix these things? These are things that the Conservative Party *LIKES*.

  • @Wallyrus

Are you hired by the liberals to spred shit on youtube?Conservatives want a smaller goverment and to give the people more control over their lives.Liberals want a bigger goverment and want the goverment to control peoples lives. This ia fact, you can google it "the differences between conservatives and liberals" and you will fidn it easily.I personally want to have control over my life and not politics telling me whats right or wrong and what I should or shouldnt do

  • @TheBattleSCAR Cite your source (especially since some of your remarks can -- and should -- get you sued for libel).

  • @BoredomCorner It isn't my fault that I disagree with the Liberal parties views, and that I stand up for what I believe in. They can do what they want, but my points are valid, and I stand behind them.

  • @mendelbot. If you were trying to create as advanced a society as possible, you would want to encourage a rich competition of ideas. Competition is the heart of capitalism. The only function of the government ought to be to ensure that everybody is in the game, and can compete as fiercely as possible.

  • @mendelbot. Consider this rationally. Conservatism is a political ideology for the, morally and intellectually, weak. Seeking to remove the, already less fortunate, poor out of the competiton for opportunity isn't exactly a bold move. This fear of making mistakes is only an excuse the elitists use for tipping the scales in their own favor.

  • boorish

  • Conservatives are only ever willing to do what they know has worked in the past. They are afraid of new ideas and change and, therefore, are afraid of the future. Right-wingers live in a land of make believe -- full of leprechauns and rainbows -- where everybody fits into their neat little boxes and they can ignore the fact that the rest of the world has moved on!

  • @Wallyrus Wallyrus, And yet you put us into such a neat little box! You don't mean to say you are a conservative? Just kidding. I like to tease my progressive friends. ;-)

Are you familiar with Darwin's theory? If so, this quote from Chesterton will make sense of the creative conflict amongst conservatives and progressives:

"The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected."

    Amen.

    Take care.

  • lmao, how did dion end up in that pose.. lol he sure does regret it lolz

  • stephan dion=pussy lol.

  • i blame stephon dion for making me bald

  • Kind of makes sense, you'd have to have some kind brain damage to think CHina was communist.

  • @MaoistRebelNews ...China openly acknowledges its communism.

  • @BoredomCorner But China is not shy about using the fact that it's major companies are government owned and operated. Hmm, where have I heard this before... effectively combining the power of private capital with the centralization government control...

  • Liberal, conservative...what's the difference they all screwed up..can't say 1 to another...it's not the party to vote on it's the BS they give us at the start! but this harper guy is really putting a tight grip on it's own citizens!!...tell me why again do we pay a govement to tell us to pay more??

  • DINOSAUR DAN!!!!!!!

  • Liberal goverment had allowed the "Tainted Blood, Hepatitus, Aids" scandal and wold not even compensate the thousands of victims. It was the Liberals who had the "campaign funds" scandal, Chetien money scandal, etc.. etc... Now anyone who votes Conservative is villified as Right Wing for simply wanting integrity in Government. Go figure!

So almost a billion dollars go to CBC annually for anti-Conservative propaganda via Rick Mercer!

  • @bobisnohere1 See, I tolerate your random ravings. The least you can do is tolerate others.

  • OMG i now a guy that looks just like himmm

  • So, huh, I guess I need to see the original ad to get the librial bash?

  • That does sound like a Tory attack ad, lol

  • ROFL

  • Wow, that's exactly how those ads were!

  • haha I wasn't expecting that ending. Brilliant.

  • nice

  • i love rick mercer... ya know... if theres any people who watch this (american friends) this is a funny canadian show

  • ......i got that cow thing in a loot bag from a birthday party a few years back........ o dear....

  • Only Rick Mercer would think of this. Great Skit.

  • That was weak and a bit nonsensical

  • fucking epic, im in tears

  • Pretty stupid.

  • lol started blaming stephan dion

  • LOL oooo poor Dion they always get him in that pose.

  • @wilhelmscream25 XD bcuz he looks SOOOOOOO dumb in that pose!

  • I thought this was gonna be some stupid shit until the ending and it was sooooo funny.

I like Dion's pose were hes like,

    Uhhhh i dunno

  • Mzbebegirl, thats a little biased or close minded isnt it? I mean, heck im not buying the conservatives crappy "environmental - distractions", just feels like bull. There are plent of ideas the Liberals have that are weird , but u should at least looks at both sides. Green and NDP parties have ideas to save those who are in midium class, not just keeping rich rich, but making every1 enviro -rich with the help of sum effort. So, pls, know the facts, open your mind and stop being so short sighted.

  • LMFAOOOOO :P

  • does anyone know where i can find the RMR-on family or something like that video, where all the leaders are like kids. PM ME

  • It's on cbc

  • nice one

  • thats so funny

  • 'The man who reads nothing at all is better informed than the man who reads nothing but YouTube'.

  • I loved the ending

  • OMFG the last little bit is soooooo Harper :P

  • the comment about cutting social programs is only half true. the cuts were made to programs that were not using the money well and were wasting it, however that money was then transfered to other programs that were successful, popular and using there money correctly. Harper has done an excellent job, very down to earth fellow! Very happy to have him as a leader, it's so nice to have someone looking out for the middle class citizen.

  • If you think you have the right to be anything but a racist murderer in Canada, don't vote conservative. The conservatives are completely evil and purely destructive. My family are conservatives and have ruined my life and tried to get me killed so many times I can't count. You have the right to choose but that's why I recomend voting Liberal. Please vote Liberal.

  • hahahahahahahahaha... they tried to kill you because your SUCH A RETARD

  • clearly your a moron if you think that over taxation is a good way of running a country. Idiot.

  • Maybe if they sack Layton.

Harper has done a stand-up job. He still has several inadequacies, but he's done stellar compared to the stagnant clusterfuck that marked the Liberal's final days in power.

As of right now, he has my vote unless something changes drastically.

  • LMAO. Dion is a weasel. He bragged about being the only man in his position who had the POWER to force an election. Turns out he was wrong. What a pathetic, whining weasel. Thank you Mr Harper for reducing national debt by 13 billion. Keep up the good work.

  • Clearly you don't watch the news.

When the Liberals were in power, we were running a 10 billion dollar surplus.

Now we're at a 2 million dollar defecit.

He's also managed to cut funding for tonnes of social programs, and media manage like they do down south.

    GO HARPER. Not.

  • Canada's Liberals are just like the American's GOP - they support something when it's convenient for them, and change sides when it's not.

  • clearly you watch the news. one news. the CBC. and the fat cows at the CBC are freaking out about harper, because they don't want to clean house.

i don't know if we need to get rid of the CBC, but it cannot stay the way it is. either clean up or get out, and hopefully harper will put that same fear in all the rest of the useless bureaucrats, and clean up our government!

  • media manage...what a great phrase.

  • omg thats that kid from that comercial about the white shirt thing.... omg do u know how retarded that sounded lol XP

  • OutlawTomFantasic, you're right to say that the LPC's (Liberal Party of Canada's) "we're not making this up" ad series was just as bad as Harper's ads, if not worse! The only difference I can see is that the CPC's ads are being used when an election isn't even happening, while the LPC's ads were used during an election campaign. I think both the LPC and CPC has some explaing to do, and I just hope that Mr.Dion cleans house in the Liberals, and Harper focuses on what he does best: push ideas!

  • The point of the ad is to show how ridiculous the Conservative Party of Canada's ads are, and that they'll surely backfire!

  • Huh? But it wasn't the conservative ads. It was the "We're not making this up" ads by the Liberals that went overboard and received criticism by Canadians. It makes no sense for Mercer to criticize the Conservative Party when in fact the Liberals are guilty of what he is accusing them of.

  • This is ridiculous! The Liberals are the ones who got bashed in 2006 for insane attack ads against Harper. Why is the CBC laying this at Harper's feet as though he's the one running cuckoo ads?

  • because hes cookoo lol,

  • LOL Rick Mercer is a genius. Stephane Dion is the best.

  • Who in the Liberal Party of Canada said the Chinese were contaminating everything as part of a "communist plot"? LOL! As an American, that reminds me all too well of the Republican Party. I didn't know the Liberals were crazy like that. Wow...

  • They aren't. It's more the Conservatives who do stuff like that. :/

  • Say what you will about the Liberals, But they could write a good budget

  • I agree with you. I'm a Liberal fan. Nobody mark this a a bad comment now.

  • too late!

  • lol

  • WHEN?

  • Chretien/Martin. I know that balanced budget for asshat conservative like Philipjfry is like a cross to a vampire, but for common sense folks it is pretty sound idea.

  • your a TORY! its contagious u know

  • well yeah, its in the party discription...

    conservative:little gov involvement

    liberal: gov hands in everything

The difference is conservatives let us screw ourselves over by letting businesses rip us off as much as they want, where as liberals go in and screw us up personally. Such is my understanding... cheers

  • hooting dickholes!

  • if it wasn't rick mercer we would have no idea this is a joke. very typical of the conservatives.

  • Hilarious. =)

  • lmfao thats awesome! ahahah! All the conseratives did during the election was mudsling the liberal party. What a waste of time, they are completely incompetent...

  • What are you talking about? The Liberals were the ones who got into trouble for all those "We're not making this up" ads. What hypocrites the left are. They throw the usual smears towards the right and then pretend the right is doing it.

  • as a person who knows absolutely nothing about canadian politics, i'm finding this conversation really interesting...what are the differences between canada's liberal party and canada's conservative party? i could go on and on about our politics but it would be boring no doubt.

  • bassicaly the conservatives suck

  • That was hillarious. I wonder if those kids really grasp what they are saying though. If so, they are good at deadpan humour. Lol.

  • amazing how true it is that the conservatives seem to be able to blame everything on anything or anyone. Thanks Rick!
