  • ex air nz 747 200s

  • Brings back memories, great job of filming this takeoff, well done!

  • I went from orlando intl. to gatwick

  • fast 200 series do :D

  • I went on Island Lady !

  • @acerm101 Vicodin. Either that or take two doses of man up.

  • oh they're still flying the 200 s

  • when did virgin get rid of their 747-200 series? great video!

  • this is a brill vid, came back a few weeks ago frm barbados with virgin, tho no one seems to get a shot of the air hostesses................

  • I just hate when the plane is only a few mins away from landing and it makes your ears hurt

  • Love flying on Virgin atlantic, Going to Orlando, mco, again in June, Can't Wait!

  • Nice hum. Got to love Rolls-Royce!

  • @VIR092 They don't use RR they use GE engines

  • @AAL395 Sir, pardon me but this is a B747-200, not a B744. VS used the RB Rolls-Royce turbofan on the -200's until they were sadly decomissioned. The -443's however are outfitted with the GE CF6-80E1. Hope that clears it up. Regards.

  • Aren't those clouds just beautiful :)

  • my stomach does somersaults when i hear the power in those engines...love it!!

  • were you in first class? Lucky guy.

  • wow, I loved it the sultry, sexy british accent in the starting. Was it the CAPT or a male Cabin Crew advising the crew to take the seats for takeoff? I believe it may have been the CAPT.

  • did it have seat back tv

  • Nice to see a 747 'Classic' used for passenger service. Very rare nowadays.

  • I was on a virgin 747-200 from MIA to LGW back in Dec. 1986. They only went to ewr and mia and mia was 3 times a week . Back then Virgin was new and really packed the seats on those planes. I was horrified to see how little space between the seats. My knees were jammed into the seat in front of me the whole time. But they had better cabin service in coach than any other airline in the sky. It was a great flight.

  • i hate take off i dont mind landing though

  • By the way I noticed you took off from RWY 18L. That must be rare as when I go to MCO all the heavies depart from RWY 17R.

  • Old school 747. Love it! Great video!

  • i went on a 747-200 with virgin called, boston belle, on holiday to orlando. it was ace still all kitted out with the latest media entertainment in the seat headrest things.....but that was like 10 years ago, 5 star airline even when your in economy, love the take off run because its nearly a minute long :D

  • wow this is old a 742

  • virgin atlantic getting a a380 in 2013!! :o

    yaaaaaay virgin!!!!!!

  • What A beautiful BIRD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • was this taken from] the upper deck?

  • Virgin Atlantic ROCKS!!!!!!!

  • I am a VERY NERVOUS PASSANGER ! I had to fly 4 times with Virgin Atlantic to Orlando and they were SUPERB- Wonderful airline.

  • VIRGIN ATLANTIC'S THE BEST

  • I miss these old 747-200's, I wish I had appreciated my last ride on G-VSSS a little more. That sound at 4.55.....lovely. This one had better entertainment than some of the 747-400s they use on the Orlando route today, atleast G-VSSS had games unlike G-VROS/ROM/ROY/LIP/GAL

  • my god, those engines sound so danm good. the power.......

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! RR BABY!!

  • This plane is G-VAST girlfriend LOL

  • That is a 200, if you can't tell by looking at the wings, look at the upper deck less windows!

  • now here is a nice easy listen song for this vid. type in sleepy time gal- hear jerry vales version of it. i htink it goes good with it .let me know .great vid too.

  • haha perhaps not. it looked like it untill they were in the air haha

  • isn't this from manchester airport?

  • i'm stupid

  • where were you flying to?

  • very nice videos, the 747-200 is long gone but the videos live on.

  • lol but you cant hear the engine sounds that good haha

  • if you dont mind me asking are you sat in the first class? upstairs?

  • yeah he is.u get a nice view of the engines from up there XD

  • i love virgin atlantic there a very good airline and ive been on island lady before very nice 747. i think the last time i went on island lady was departing from manchester to orlando so preety cool. nice vid

  • were there winglets on the plane?

  • No its a 747-200 so it would not have winglets.

  • Yes it is a 747-200. Now Virgin retired them, they used to have 11.

  • Its a 400 face it.

  • it's a 200 it doesnt have winglets

  • I realise that now.

  • i have never flown with them befor i wonder if they are good cool vid :)

  • no i a pilot

  • great vid, wow i never realized how good of a view u have on the upper deck of a 747. When was this flight? cause this is an old plane.

  • that's the 747-200??!!

  • I FLEWED ONE BEFORE

  • hahaah flewed ha!

  • I Flewed form BWI to New Orleans

  • Check your grammar!

  • ok i flew a airplane

  • Check again!

  • ok i flown ed a airplane

  • Ok I'll do it for you as it is Obviously hurting you:

I once flew on an aeroplane. See not that hard!

  • I LOVE THE 747

  • I LOVE THE BUTT

  • I love going to Orlando, flow with Virgin just the once, also have used United, US Airway & British Airways. I preferred US Airway because there on board video system is better & the have laptop connections in the cheap seats.

  • I've been on Virgin Atlantic from Manchester to Orlando loads of times and it's excellent every time.

When I first went it was a 747-200 but I don't believe they operate those anymore.

  • Was this on 30th of november 2007 because if it was i am on it. Coming back from orlando.2 weeks wow i had jetlag for 10 days

  • no it wasn't, they started flying the -400's a few years ago. I uploaded it january of 08 because i found it on my computer that day lol. but nope i dont think you were on it.

  • WOW what a wonderful, wonderful video, the shots you got were amazing!!! i love virgin atlantic so much, everytime ive flown with them, it has been a service that is very impressive!!! great vid x

  • thanks man, and yea VA is so good, I see them come in every day over my house.

  • same! as they fly into gatwick at 9:30 every morning! just as i open my window to get up! nothing like it!

  • being a pilot is sooooooooooo cool!!

  • hmmm. thats a big move! yea ive been to LAX and spotted there and i didnt get to see her come in, but i didnt know ruby tuesday flew to LAX and MCO. thats cool! thanks for the information

  • Really? do you live in orlando or gatwick, because I live in orlando and I see them depart and arrive all the time. they go right over my house.

  • Our virgin plane was called hot lips!! vIRGIN rocK

  • Lol, nice that is funny. thanks for watching and viewing, and might I recomend you watching my video of Virgin Atlantic Screenshot.

  • Will do!! I liked the vid too... reminded me of my hols!!

  • i went with virgin to orlando, plane was called boston belle, it was a 747 200 although i do believe they are being fazed out by virgin, or may have gone allready

  • wow. Already?

  • i love take-off. the best part is 3:30 when they turn the engines up

  • This really must be old, 742's are mostly used for cargo, its a nice airplane, but I like the 744's a little better in my opinion :] Great vid!

  • yea they only fly the 747-400's to orlando, but they are probobly flying the 200's to shorter routes.

  • Virgin sadly don't fly the 742's anymore, 744's fly all the Orlando to the UK routes now, this aircraft (G-VSSS) now flies for Transaero Airlines Russia.

  • hmm.. I did not know that, thank you for the information.

  • This is either a 747-200 or 747-300, b/c it seems to have 200 series wings, and 400 series engines and upper deck, so it may be a 747-300.

  • I take it this is pre 2004, i love those old 747-200s vs use to fly.

  • I think so, I don't remember exactly.

  • kk, thanks

  • no problem

  • virgin atlantic has a cool logo

  • yea it does, look at my VA video i made it should be on my home page

  • Notice how Virgin have removed most the Airbourne dates from under the names of the aircraft!!

  • well i have a video of one that still does. and its on my page so look for it if you want

  • So why have they removed the dates then?

  • I dont think they have, it would cost some money to have them removed.

  • I think they have, ive worked on most of them

  • what do you mean worked on most of them?

  • It means im an engineer

  • O wow, how is that?

  • Its my job!

  • i mean, how is it, do you like it, want to be a pilot more. or what..

  • Routine work is boring, like filling up oil and walking around. I like the defects, when you have a problem and you have to think why it doesnt work.

Wouldnt fancy being a driver, its got to be very boring, even my mate who is 747 pilot says its boring sitting there!

  • O, i have a friend that does maintance, but i want to be a pilot, for the 777 series. but what airport do you work at?? Gatwick

  • Correct!

  • O ok, well VA has about 4 flights a day come here to Orlando.

  • lovely noise

  • dude i was on the exact same fights vs075 and vs076

  • Were you sitting on the upper deck of the Plane?

  • is there any way you can find out the name of the aircraft you will be flying if you have your flight number and things?

  • yea, but just to let you know Virgin Atlantic only flys 747, and A430's. but theres a way.

  • have replied to your comments astro and big, not shown up for some reason , ill give it a while if dont show up will reply again thanks

  • you can try again, but if it doesnt work, just send me an message on youtube.

  • this is the worst feeling in the world looking at the plane thats taking you home .

  • gotta agree there about it being the worse feeling

  • never been on a 747-400 before , am flying in one to orlando in april for honeymoon .... the power sounds great! ...... cant wait

  • Very nice, well I live in Orlando, so maybe i can see your flight come over my house. I see the big boy every single day. So if you know you flight number and everything i will look for it, and mabye take a few pics if you want.

  • if its flying from manchester the flight number is vs075 and the return is vs076

  • WOW! that would be brilliant! thank you , i will get back to you on number, but i know so far im leaving gatwick at 10 45 am on 19th april, virgin atlantic if thats any help, thanks again

  • ok, yea, it might be a little early to look it up now but i will keep looking.

  • i remember flying on the 747-200's to orlando from gatwick years ago good planes shame virgin dosnt fly them any more

  • Wow! Thanks for posting - poor Island Lady - hope the rest of the Virgin 747s keep flying - long live the 747s - the best of them all.

    5 star well done.

  • Trust me they will live very long.... I dont think this plane flys out of Orlando, they fly the -400's. Thank you for commenting.
