It depends on your taste Kenny. Opera, like any music genre varies as wide as can be. There's bel canto, where melody and beautiful singing is primary, all else is secondary. This one is bel canto. You can start on some popular ones for the opera. The interpreters come as varied as your taste too. There's Maria Callas whose dramaturgy is almost unequalled, at the other end there's Joan Sutherland beautiful notes is primary, to hell w/ consonants sometimes & recent others ...

Thanks for the post and translation. Ms. Caballe' is just plain excellent. The portamentos, the tonal accuracy and vibrato stay rock solid through her captivating dynamics. Unlike some opera vibratos, Ms. Cabelle' leaves no doubt as to the absolute pitch of each note. Technically, the vibrato has that head-turning characteristic of asymetrical amplitude modulation on top of the frequency modulation. In other words.....she has golden chords.
